    Abstract: A fitting head has a sleeve receptacle and a widener, the fitting head being displaceable forward/backward in the direction of the longitudinal axis of a wire. Also arranged on the fitting head are a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter generates a curtain-like beam that is positioned between the sleeve receptacle and the widener and can be measured by the receiver. Like the sleeve receptacle and the widener, transmitter and receiver are displaceable forward/backward in the longitudinal axis of the wire, during the forward movement the wire fitting or sleeve being fitted onto the wire and during the backward movement the sleeve being positionally measured. The movement of the fitting head is measured by a stationary measuring head and a scale that moves together with the fitting head. During evaluation of the measurement results, fitting faults are detected.

    Abstract: A test lead assembly is provided for an electrical connector assembly, such as a terminal board. The terminal board includes a generally planar member and a number of fasteners, such as terminal screws, which are structured to fasten and electrically connect electrical conductors to the generally planar member. The test lead assembly includes an extension member having first and second opposing ends, and an intermediate portion extending therebetween. The first end is fastened to the enlarged head of a corresponding one of the terminal screws. A connection element is disposed at or about the second end of the extension member. In one embodiment the connection element is a thumb screw that electrically connects a test element to the extension member. The test lead assembly enables the terminal board to be tested, without loosening or otherwise disturbing the electrical connections of the terminal board. An associated method is also disclosed.

    Abstract: Removal of a conventional separable insulated connector from an electric power system often results in a shortened electric cable. An extender for a separable insulated connector enables the separable insulated connector to connect to a shortened cable. A conventional cable adapter is inserted into the extender, which includes a conductive connector for accepting the shortened cable and a conductive rod for carrying electric power from the shortened cable to the separable insulated connector. The extender also includes an inner semi-conductive layer that borders the conductive rod and compression connector, an outer semi-conductive layer, and a insulating layer between the two semi-conductive layers. The extender is inserted into a separable insulated connector, which is then connected to the electric power system.

    Abstract: A novel, reliable, moisture migration preventing cable connector for non-standard port attachment is provided. Such a connector device includes a deformable sealing element that is clear of mating port threads during connector attachment to a cable port, but that deforms upon actuation of a mated thread device rotated around the connector subsequent to cable port attachment. Such deformation allows for the sealing element to enter the open areas of the mated threads thereby preventing the migration of moisture into the cable connector, protecting not only the connector threads, but also the mating port, as well as the internal dielectric and center conductor of the cable itself. A method of providing a signal connection and transfer in a cable system is also encompassed within this invention.

    Abstract: A spring-loaded device is installed into a node housing at a predetermined location. The predetermined location is selected to correspond to another predetermined location into which a stinger may be installed. These predetermined locations on the node housing are selected to further correspond to a predetermined internal location of an RF interface connector. A conducting pin of the RF interface extends through a dielectric between a nail head shaped end, which provides electrical connection with the stinger projection, and an end soldered to a PCB of the amplifier. The amplifier may be installed and the node housing closed before the stinger and spring-loaded device are installed into the housing. This facilitates installation of the stinger into the housing without having to open the housing and remove the amplifier. External threads on the spring-loaded device facilitate installation thereof, but a unique torque is not required therefor.
