Abstract: A method of constructing a conveyor system includes decommissioning an existing conveyor system by removing electrification or a powered chain from a conveyor rail. Carriers of the existing conveyor system are removed from the rail. An automated conveyor carrier (ACC) is installed onto the rail so that a drive wheel of a self-driving trolley of the ACC is put into contact with the rail. A battery is installed on the ACC. Electrical connection is established from the battery to the self-driving trolley.

Abstract: Torsional vibration dampers are disclosed that include a hub and an inertia member disposed concentric with and spaced radially outward or radially inward from the hub that together define a plurality of pockets therebetween each having a spool-shaped receptacle. A plurality of spool-shaped elastomeric plugs, one each, are seated in the spool-shaped receptacles. When the inertia member is spaced radially outward of the hub, the hub is mountable on a shaft, and when the inertia member is spaced radially inward of the hub, the hub is mountable inside a shaft. Abstract: The invention relates to a support including a rail (10) preferably having an I-shaped section and provided in a channel (2) filled with concrete (4). Abstract: A method includes shrink fitting a ring member about a railroad wheel body and metallurically bonding the ring member to the railroad wheel body. A wheel assembly includes an inner portion obtained from a worn railroad wheel, a ring member disposed about the inner portion, and suitable electroplating material disposed on at least one of the faying surfaces. The wheel assembly may be heated under suitable conditions to provide diffusion bonding across interfacing faying surfaces to produce an integral wheel structure. Appropriate quenching, tempering, and finishing processes may be utilized to obtain desired properties. An article formed thereby includes an inner body portion obtained from a worn railroad wheel and a metallurically bonded outer circumferential portion. The outer portion may comprise a composition selected for desired wear characteristics.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing an all metal, single or dual, flanged composite railroad wheel for rollingly engaging a metal rail. A unitary metal railroad wheel having at least one radially extending wheel flange, for intermittently engaging the side surface of the rail, is provided with a metallic inlaid material having a coefficient of friction lower than the coefficient of friction of the wheel's main body. Abstract: A wheel has both wear resistance and heat-crack resistance sufficient for use in a high-speed railway vehicle. The chemical composition of a base steel comprises 0.4 to 0.75 % C, 0.4 to 0.95% Si, 0.6 to 1.2% Mn and less than 0.2% Cr. The wheel has a pearlitic microstructure in a region of at least 50 mm in depth from the tread surface of the wheel. Abstract: A camera dolly has a track wheel system including a kingpin pivotally supported on a dolly chassis. A kingpin tube extends laterally from the kingpin. An axle is pivotally supported within the tube on pins. A track wheel around a bearing is supported on a bushing on the axle. A knob unit threaded into the axle may be turned into a locked position wherein the track wheel is supported as in a conventional axle. For use on curved track, the knob unit is released or backed out, allowing the track wheel to shift laterally, to accommodate moving on curved dolly track, and to allow the wheel to steer on the track at a proper steering angle, by pivoting on the pins.
Abstract: A steel for high-strength solid wheels and tires for railroad traction vehicles and cars that is more tenacious at the strengths typical of existing steels, and that is less likely to fracture even at constant braking. The steel has a specific ratio between major, alloying and companion elements, so that the steel is of high purity and uniformity. Abstract: A cooling device especially adapted to be applied to railway car wheels that are subjected to heating by the application of braking pressure to the rims. The cooling structure is suitable for mounting on existing wheels as well as on new wheels. It comprises a plurality of vanes extending radially from the hub of the wheel to its rim in spaced relationship. An annular cover is attached to the outer edges of the vanes to form a plurality of channels that have an opening at the hub end and another opening at the rim end. As the wheel rotates an air stream is formed in each of the channels with the air entering the channel at the hub opening, and exhausting at the rim opening so that the air impinges on the rim to carry away the heat from the rim.

Abstract: A wheeled carriage is proposed which is capable of moving on rails to-and-fro, and of moving on a railless flat floor in any desired direction. The railway vehicle contains at least one wheel which is mounted for limited rotation around a generally vertical axis.
