Abstract: A headrest for back seats in station wagons arranged on a forwardly foldable seat back is arranged on or is integrated with an arm pivotally arranged at the top, rear edge of the back seat, to be swung out of the way from a use position to a stowage position beneath the seat back when the seat back is folded down. The arm can be articulated and be slidably arranged in a sleeve mounted on the rear side of the seat back. When the headrest is in the stowage position, the seat back can be folded forwards and the headrest will be well-protected and out of the way in the cavity under the seat back which would otherwise be unused.
Abstract: A dual use cushion and container are provided and adapted for a first use with a shipping carton. The container has a cover or lid at the top and a handle on the side. The cushion includes a retaining tab and can be folded so that it can be placed within the shipping carton along side the container. When in the shipping carton, the cushion cushions the container during shipment. After shipment, the cushion and container can be removed from the shipping carton, and the cushion placed on top of the lid of the container to form a cushioned seat. The retaining tab of the cushion can be engaged with the handle of the container to hold the cushion in place on top of the container's lid. In addition to its use in holding the cushion in place on top of the seat, the handle can be used to carry the container.
Abstract: A relatively straight back curves forward at the lower end at a small angle to the longitudinal axis of the back to form an integral supporting foot portion, and at the approximate center of the length of each side member of the back a pivot journal or stud projects inwardly to selectively engage in detents in the lower edge of an armrest when used as a chair. The armrest is pivoted adjacent the opposite end to the top portion of a pivotable foot which is pivoted to the supporting foot portion to form an adjustable cross therewith. The pivot journal engages the armrest lower edge adjacent the pivot connection with pivotable foot when used as a chaise lounge. A seat is pivoted at one end to the side member in proximity to the pivot journal and is supported in a chair position by a removable crossbar engaging the underside thereof and recesses in strips connected on the inside of the pivotable foot.

Abstract: Modular furniture elements concave can be assembled to form an article of furniture, such as, armchairs, divans, and beds, consist of elements which, in plan, have two or three different but interrelated shapes. In plan, the different shapes are all based on a circle having a radius R. Each element of a first set of elements has a shape, in plan, defined by a convex semi-circular side of radius R and two converging cooncave sides extending from opposite ends of the convex side and merging together at a blunt edge. Each concave side is equal to one quarter of the circumference of a circle of radius R. Each element of a second set has a shape in plan which is defined by two interconnecting convex sides, each being equal to one quarter of the circumference of a circle of radius R. Each element of a third set has a shape in plan which is defined by a convex side equal to three-quarters the circumference of a circle of radius R and a concave side of one quarter the circumference of such a circle.
Abstract: A "Child's Cave" provides a small "living" enclosure in which a child can work or play. In this enclosure, a seat assembly faces a shelf that acts as a working surface. Access to the enclosure is provided by cut-outs in one or both of the front and rear walls. The wall panels also define a separate clothes storage space which can be closed to the exterior by a curtain. An upper bed extends along the top of the article to provide a main sleeping surface and form a ceiling for the living enclosure and clothes storage space. Climbing holes form a ladder to this bed. The article has the further features that (a) the seat assembly and shelf can be horizontally aligned to form a second, lower bed; (b) slidable drawers are located in the lower part of the clothes storage space; and (c) the climbing holes are spaced apart non-uniformly, the spacing between the uppermost pair being less than that between the other pairs.
