Collapsible Chair; I.e., Relatively Folding Bottom, Back, And Legs Patents (Class 297/16.1)
  • Patent number: 6254177
Abstract: A foldable chair frame includes a linking unit for connecting foldably a leg member to a seat member of the chair frame. The linking unit includes a first linking plate with an upper end pivoted to the seat member, a second linking plate with a lower end pivoted to the leg member, a resilient locking plate with an upper end pivoted to the seat member, and a locking pin extending through an elongated hole in the locking plate. The locking pin interconnects foldably adjacent ends of the first and second linking plates, and has a narrower pin section slidable along the elongated hole during pivoting movement of the first and second linking plates relative to each other. The locking pin further has a wider pin section which engages an enlarged hole end of the elongated hole when the first and second linking plates are unfolded from each other for locking the first and second linking plate at an unfolded state.

  • Patent number: 6241311
Abstract: A support ring for holding a fabric seat on an inclined frame tube of a portable chair frame allows the support ring to rest horizontally on the inclined frame tube so as to enable the fabric seat also resting horizontally on the chair frame. The support ring has a supporting hole contributed by two semi-circular portions and an intermediate portion extended between the two semi-circular portions. Each of the semi-circular portions has a diameter equal to or slightly larger than a diameter of the inclined frame tube. The intermediate portion also has a width equal to the diameter of the semi-circular portion.

  • Patent number: 6206462
Abstract: A pinch preventing mechanism is provided for a collapsible chair having a backrest frame, a seat frame, two armrests, two front legs, and two rear legs. The pinch preventing mechanism includes a pin fixed to one of the rear legs, a sleeve slidably mounted around the associated rear leg, and an engaging device. The sleeve includes a compartment into which the pin extends. A spring is mounted in the compartment and attached between the pin and an end wall defining the compartment, thereby biasing the sleeve downward. An upper end of the engaging device is pivotally connected to a lower end of an associated lateral side of the backrest frame. A lower end of the engaging device is pivotally connected to the associated rear leg in a position below the sleeve. The engaging device further includes a notch, wherein a wedge formed on the sleeve is engaged in the notch of the engaging device when the collapsible chair is in an extended status.

  • Patent number: 6195813
Abstract: A collapsible shower chair is disclosed. The shower chair has a plurality of suction cups on an edge of the seat portion thereof permitting the chair to readily grip the wall of the shower stall when not in use. Each suction cup is received within a longitudinally extending slot in the seat portion of the chair and is readily movable therein permitting alignment of the suction cup with the surface of the wall of the shower stall. A ball and detent arrangement is provided for engagement of a support arm with the seat portion of the chair ensuring that the legs are firmly attached to the seat portion when the chair is in use.

  • Patent number: 6174585
Abstract: A slat (116) is arranged to co-operate with substantially similar slats (117) for the construction of structures, primarily garden furniture. Each slat defines a substantially C-shaped cross section with a central element (501) and two longitudinal elements (502, 503) attached to the central element. Locking teeth (505) are applied to an external surface (504) of the central element, arranged to radially extend about a connecting hole (506). The connecting hole receives a spindle (507) arranged to securely hold the slats in position. With the spindle loosened, it is possible to re-configure the furniture for different purposes. However, with the spindle held tightly in place, the furniture becomes rigid and suitable for supporting body weight.

  • Patent number: 6170907
Abstract: A collapsible chair includes two front legs and two rear legs. Two stiles telescopically received in the rear legs and may be moved to an extended position to form a back of the chair. A collar is movably fit over each leg. A pair of pivoted links is connected between every two adjacent legs. Each link has a first end pivotally attached to one of the two legs and a second end pivotally attached to the collar of the other one of the two legs whereby the chair is collapsed by moving the collars along the legs and the legs converge together. A flexible sheet is releasably fixed to top ends of the legs for serving as a seat. The flexible sheet may be removed from the chair when the chair is collapsed and the collapsed chair may be wrapped by the removed sheet thereby significantly reducing the space occupied by the collapsed chair.
