In the envelope opening device of the present invention, when a user merely inserts an edge part of an envelope into a guide slot of a casing and pushes or pulls the envelope, the edge part of the envelope is precisely cut by a cutting means to a predetermined length while the edge part is supported and guided by a guide wall, which is provided inside the guide slot, and while the envelope is held and supported by a holding means such that it is prevented from undesirably moving. Therefore, the present invention makes it possible to precisely cut the edge part of the envelope to a minimum length. Abstract: The present invention provides for an alignment device for aligning a punch tool to punch a design into a sheet media comprised of a clip, where the clip is comprised of first and second resilient arms meeting at a connection point. A first guide edge is disposed angularly from the first resilient arm, such that when the punch tool is secured in the clip between the first and second resilient arms and the sheet media is placed along the first guide edge, the punch tool is positioned to punch a design into the sheet media. Additionally, a second guide edge may be disposed angularly from the second resilient arm, such that when the punch tool is secured in the clip between the first and second resilient arms and the sheet media is placed along the first and second guide edges, the punch tool is positioned to punch a design into the sheet media.

  • Patent number: 6769341
Abstract: A cutting device has a body, a driving device, a moving base, a head and a cutting rod. The driving device is mounted on the body to actuate the moving base to move relative to the body. The head extends from the body and has a central hole defined through the head. A notch and an exhaust hole are defined in the bottom of the head and communicate with the central hole. The cutting rod is moveably received in the central hole in the head and is attached to the moving base. The cutting rod has a cutting recess defined around the cutting rod. Accordingly, the metal waste generated during the cutting process is kept from flying about and injuring the user, so the safety of using the cutting device is improved. In addition, the cut metal sheet can be kept from shake or vibration.

Abstract: A method and tool provided with irrigation for transection of a band, ring or the like and method of use is disclosed which includes a power-driven drill operable for driving a rotatable shaft which rotates a circular cutting blade mounted on the shaft, and a head assembly mounted on the drill includes a port structure oriented for transferring irrigation fluid from a source onto the ring or band to provide cooling to the ring or band and cooling to the cutting blade during cutting action. The transfer of irrigation fluid also facilitates removal of metallic filings or debris caused by the cutting action and irrigating a traumatized area adjacent the ring or band. The port structure is dimensioned with a bore for receiving a tubular member connected to the source, which delivers fluid to the port structure, which has an axis aligned substantially parallel to a planar surface of the cutting blade.

Abstract: A cutting apparatus for cutting a sheet material is provided. The cutting apparatus includes a platform; a rail structure secured onto the platform; a sliding member sliding along the rail structure; a cutting member movably engaging with and carried by the sliding member to pass through and cut the sheet material sustained on the platform; and an adjusting member. The adjusting member can urge the cutting member to move relative to the sliding member so as to contact with the sheet material in response to an external force, and return the cutting member to move relative to the sliding member so as to release the cut sheet material manually or automatically.

  • Patent number: 6671968
Abstract: A cutting tool and method for applying decorative patterns to floor coverings. The tool comprises a force applying body member having a slide member secure to the bottom of the body member. A knife edge secured by the slide member extends outwardly from the slide member and is used for marking or cutting an underlying floor covering. The slide member has a longitudinal channel adapted to receive the edge of a section of floor covering previously cut in a predetermined pattern and which serves as a template in order to cut the pattern into the underlying floor covering. As downward and forward pressure is applied to the body member, the apparatus is advanced along the edge of the pattern and a cut is made by the tool into the underlying floor covering at a dimension equal to the edge of the pattern. The cut pattern is removed and mated with the floor covering from which the template was cut. Likewise the template may be mated with the section of floor covering from which the pattern was removed.

  • Patent number: 6647628
Abstract: A carpet cutters includes a blade-supporting structure and a tuft-parting structure. The blade-supporting structure includes a longitudinally extending guide with a forward portion and a carpet-contacting edge that extends along a first axis toward the forward portion of the guide. A blade is mounted adjustably on the blade-supporting structure in a carpet-cutting position of the blade. The tuft-parting structure is on the forward portion of the guide where it functions as means for parting tufts on the carpet in order to facilitate cutting a backing portion of the carpet without cutting the tufts. The tuft-parting structure includes an elongated member with a tip. The elongated member protrudes forwardly beyond the forward end portion of the guide along a second axis that intersects the first axis, thereby to facilitate positioning of the tip of the elongated structure in between adjacent tufts of the carpet.

  • Patent number: 6640446
Abstract: A manually operated floor grooving tool is provided which has opposing front and rear ends with a seam-following roller at its front end and a groove-following roller at its rear end. The tool also employs a pair of grooving blades, one at the front end and one at the rear end. The front grooving blade is inclined upwardly and rearwardly with its cutting tip located just behind the forward axis of rotation of the seam-following guide. The rear-end grooving blade, on the other hand, projects rearwardly from the rear end of the tool and is inclined upwardly and forwardly and behind the groove-following roller. Since the rear-end grooving blade projects beyond the end of the tool in which it is secured, it can complete the formation of the groove all the way up to a vertical abutment. The groove is thereafter filled with sealant in a conventional manner.
