Blade Or Material Guide Patents (Class 30/289)
  • Patent number: 4143463
Abstract: An auxiliary device for laying flexible wall and floor coverings includes an elongated angle plate having a supporting surface for the material to be cut to size and a pressure strip having a lower pressure surface of approximately the same length as the supporting surface and which has a cross-sectional profile which is configured to complement the profile of the supporting surface. The supporting surface has at one end a wedge-shaped end portion, the outer edge of which defines a supporting edge, and a cutting edge defined at its opposite end, which edges lie in a base plane. The angle plate also includes a part having a locating edge disposed parallel to the cutting edge. The angle plate in cross-sections lies substantially within an imaginary triangle, with its cutting edge, supporting edge and locating edge passing through one corner of the triangle.

  • Patent number: 4073056
Abstract: A vegetable peeler with a handle supporting a cylindrical and electrically rotatable shafted cutter body connected to the handle with a plurality of spaced cutter blades extending longitudinally from the outer to the inner end of the body and a fixed splatter shield partially surrounding and spaced from the body and supported directly on the handle. In this general arrangement there is provided an improved cutter and shield release assembly of a cylindrical tapered support surface on the handle and a matching tapered support surface on the shield for telescopically locking the parts together. A cam and slot connection between the surfaces of different sized pins entering cooperating angled slots cams the tapered surfaces together and locks them. The body has a flared inner end and an abutment is provided on the shield adjacent the flared end so rotation of the shield breaks the tapered connection while simultaneously abutting the body to release the cutter without handling it.

  • Patent number: 4057898
Abstract: As a means for effectively dealing with a carpet damage, such as a cigarette burn, a cutting template is provided which produces standardized sized cut-outs. Thus, use of the within template contemplates removing the cigarette burn within a removal cut-out and, in an out-of-the-way area, such as under a furniture piece, obtaining a replacement cut-out which, being of the exact same size and shape is readily inserted in place within the carpet opening previously occupied by the removal cut-out.

  • Patent number: 3985129
Abstract: A device for protecting a patient during removal of an immobilizing cast. The device is of a U-shaped configuration and includes an elongated planar shield and an elongated planar guide connected with the shield, at one end thereof and disposed in superimposed parallelism with the shield, whereby the shield is adapted to be inserted between the adjacent surfaces of the skin of a patient and a cast to be removed, and employed for both guiding a cutter along the external surface of the cast and shielding the patient from the cutter as it is caused to penetrate the cast.

  • Patent number: 3965574
Abstract: A device for forming a jack-o-lantern, which is attached embracingly to a pumpkin and comprises two curved plates engaging opposite sides of the pumpkin and retained in place by cords which are laced through the adjacent edge portions of the plates. In one plate, called the main plate, are holes generally locating the eyes, nose and mouth which are to be cut from the pumpkin. A tool having a cutter is provided for each of the eyes, nose and mouth, and these are respectively mounted on the main plate. By manipulation of the tools, holes are cut appropriately in the pumpkin. The tools are operated individually by screw action, and after the forming operation is completed, the plates are unlaced and removed from the pumpkin.

  • Patent number: 3945117
Abstract: A surgical knife assembly in which a blade is provided with a guard for limiting the depth of cut. The guard is formed of a resilient material such as plastic, and frictionally grips the blade, so that the guard is adjustable on the blade by the application of a predetermined amount of axial force, with the force required for adjustment being considerably greater than the force that is applied thereto during a cutting procedure. An adjustment tool is also provided, the tool and the blade having cooperative engaging portions to permit accurate adjustment of the position of the guard on the blade between incisions during a surgical procedure.
