Patent number: 5386755Abstract: A device that will allow individuals to uniformly slice bread. The unit will hold a loaf of bread and allow it to be sliced by assuring the positioning of the bread knife. This will be provided for by having corresponding sets of slots located on opposing sides of the device with the loaf of bread held between these slots by a fluidly variable closing mechanism. By engaging the knife in corresponding slots the individual will be allowed to slice the loaf of bread while limiting the range of lateral motion of the knife. This will assure the user of uniform cuts to the loaf of bread whether those slices are made at a ninety degree angle to the sides or at some other angle to the sides. Once a slice is completed the knife will be removed from the device and moved to an adjacent set of corresponding slots. The process will then be repeated over and over until the desired number of slices of bread have been cut. The cut slices of bread will then be removed from the device.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1993Date of Patent: February 7, 1995Inventors: Raymond J. Schneider, Nicolie D. Schneider

Patent number: 5046253Abstract: A safety knife comprises a handle formed with an elongate narrow slot which extends transversely completely through the handle from one lateral surface thereof to the other, and extends lengthwise from a slot mouth in an outer surface of the handle to a location within the handle. The handle is formed in two halves which are clamped together by bolts, and sandwiched between the two halves is a blade having a cutting edge which extends at an acute angle across the width of the slot at a location spaced inwardly from its mouth. In use, string or similar material to be cut is passed along the slot until it meets the cutting edge of the blade, and continued pressure of the blade on the string then severs the string. Since the cutting edge is encased within the handle and is spaced from the mouth of the slot, there is little or no risk of the user being accidentally cut by the blade.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1990Date of Patent: September 10, 1991Inventor: William A. Patent number: 4300287Abstract: A tool for use in removing the outer sheet metal skin of an automobile door. The tool includes an elongated body having a generally longitudinal axis. A shank is located at one end of the body for connection to a reciprocating apparatus such as an air hammer. A cutting portion is located at the opposite end of the elongated body. The cutting portion of the tool includes a somewhat flattened area extending from the end of the tool. A pair of fingers are located at the cutting end of the tool and project outwardly from the flattened area side of the body. The fingers extend generally at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the body and are spaced apart a sufficient distance to straddle the outer edge of an automobile door to guide the tool during cutting. A narrow cutting tooth is formed on the flattened area of the cutting portion of the tool and is positioned to engage the edge of the automobile door when the fingers are straddling the edge.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1980Date of Patent: November 17, 1981Inventor: Larry T. Patent number: 4291461Abstract: A knife guide device for the opening of the paper cartons in general use for milk and other liquids. It is designed to work well with any sharp knife, and it works equally well right or left handed. It leaves a clean cut spout for pouring or drinking, and it does away with the heavy laminated paper flange sealing that part of the carton and with most of the fuzzy coat of the broken seal that remains when it is torn open with the fingers as originally intended. It makes subsequent openings and closings of the spout much easier and neater. The knife guide device comprises a guide surface with a slot that fits over and around the sealed flange of the container to be opened, a tang that hooks underneath the not to be cut end of the flange, and a handle with two gauge notches to indicate the exact point for the vertical cut to be made before applying the guide blade to make the horizontal cut of the paper flange.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1979Date of Patent: September 29, 1981Inventor: Val Hansen

Patent number: 4203561Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a plurality of identical in length pieces of yarn which takes the form of a yarn holder which is rotatably mounted on a base and a pair of stanchions with a rotatable rod or spool supported therebetween. The stanchions are also supported on the base. Crank means is connected to one of the stanchions to cause rotation of the rod. The rod includes a longitudinal groove which facilitates cooperation with a cutting device to cut yarn when it is wound upon the rod. A yarn collection container is to be mounted on the base underneath the rod.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1978Date of Patent: May 20, 1980Inventor: William G. Stillings

Patent number: 4175599Abstract: A strip cutting device for wood or the like having a plurality of parallel slots of different depths with a cutter disposed above the slots and means for holding the cutter across a plurality of the slots and at an angle to said slots and intermediate the ends of the slots so that work slid along a selected slot will be severed by the cutter and the work will be guided both in its approach to the cutter and after it has passed the cutter for discharge. There will be holding means for the cutter on either side of each of the slots and also on either side of the cutter to maintain the cutter fixedly in place.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1978Date of Patent: November 27, 1979Inventor: Eugene Dubois
