Field And Armature Both Rotate Patents (Class 310/115)
  • Patent number: 11705796
Abstract: A stator of an electric motor is rotated and a rotational force of the stator is used for a rotation of a rotor. Thus, the electric motor capable of obtaining high output is provided. A stator 40 is rotated in electric motors 80a, 80b. When rotating a rotor 30, a rotational force of the stator 40 is used for a rotation of the rotor 30. Consequently, higher output can be obtained compared to the conventional electric motor. In addition, the rotational force of the rotor 30 is accumulated as the rotational force of the stator 40 as kinetic energy. In case of a restarting or the like, since the rotational force of the stator 40 is used for the rotation of the rotor 30 as the kinetic energy, the energy loss is small and the kinetic energy of the rotor 30 and the stator 40 can be efficiently used. In addition, in the operation area where the stator 40 is rotated, counter electromotive force Ke or inductive reactance XL applied to coils 42 is reduced.

Abstract: A switched reluctance generator and devices and methods for its control are concerned with generators and controls which can operate in an aerospace environment. The generator may have: a rotor having rotor poles; a stator having stator poles; and a controller. Either the rotor or stator poles each have windings to which current can be supplied to energise the poles and from which current can be drawn to a load; and the controller is arranged to: periodically excite each of the windings in turn to a pre-determined level of current; measure the current generated in each winding; cease the excitation when the current generated in each winding exceeds the excitation current; and direct the generated current in each winding to the load. The generator may thereby avoid the need to determine the position of the rotor poles relative to the stator poles to provide the commutation of the generator.

Abstract: The Harmonic Accumulation and Relative Transference of Kinetic Energy method does not transmit, but rather, transfers torque/energy from a power source to a driven system of higher rotational speed through the use of an oscillating flywheel and a potential energy storage device, for example, a torsion spring The power source adds energy to the oscillating flywheel by applying an impulse torque to the flywheel just as the flywheel begins to start rotating, and then transfers that energy to the driven system when the flywheel's speed (which may be its highest rotational speed) matches that of the driven system's rotational speed and direction. Thus, the energy is transferred when the flywheel and the driven system are at 0 rpm “relative” to each other. Accordingly, the impulse torques may be applied using principles of electric motors.

Abstract: Disclosed is a generator that can produce electric power using water power, wave power or wind power. The generator characterized in that a plurality of magnet plates and separately-arranged coil plates are constructed in such a way that they can rotate in mutually opposing directions, and these magnet plates and coil plates are continuously and sequentially arranged on a rotating shaft, and a plurality of induction coils and electromotive coils installed on inner and outer cylinders proximate to the opposed ends of magnets arranged on the magnet plates are separately arranged on the coil plates. According to the generator, it is possible to obtain a further increased quantity of generation by means of the magnet plates and coil plates that rotate in mutually opposing directions even in the case that water power or wind power used in generation is weak.

  • Patent number: 8008822
Abstract: In some circumstances such as with regard to contra-rotating turbo prop arrangements in aircraft it is desirable to vary the pitch of the blades and/or provide de-icing facilities. Advantageously, these blade pitch and de-icing facilities could be provided through electrical actuators. Unfortunately, provision of electrical power to such rotating components traditionally requires utilization of slip rings which are subject to wear. By providing a self-contained electrical generator including a first hub and second hub with respective generator parts it is possible to utilize the contra-rotating nature in order to create relative motion and therefore electrical power generation in coils opposed by permanent magnets. Slide contacts for electrical connection are avoided whilst electrical power can be generated within the rotating reference frame defined by the hubs.

A rotor is fixed to the main shaft rotated by outer force. A main gear 25 is fixed to the main shaft. A ring gear 32 is fixedly positioned with respect to the stator. Pinion gears 43 are disposed between the mains shaft and the ring gear. Rotation of the main shaft in a forward direction rotates the stator in a reverse direction. A pair of slip collars 4a, 4b are concentrically mounted to the rear cover 71 that concurrently rotates with the stator. Output circuits 6a, 6b, 6c of the stator coils 5a, 5b, 5c are connected to the slip collars. Brushes 7a, 7b for slip collars are connected to a rear-side base member 55 fixedly secured to a base plate 50. Electricity is output through the brushes for slip collars.

Abstract: A field-oriented control method for an electric drive comprising a plurality of electric motors, for implementing a tension mechanism, especially for load cable and/or gearing means, using measurements of a polyphase motor actual current. The measured values are transformed into a direct current component and a quadrature current component, based upon a magnetic rotor field or flux angle, in a rotor flux-based d,q coordinate system. The quadrature and direct current components from the actual current are subjected to a comparison with predetermined quadrature and direct current components of a current command value.

  • Patent number: 7880355
Abstract: An electromagnetically variable transmission includes an outer rotor and an inner rotor. The inner rotor is independently rotatable within a center aperture of the outer rotor. The outer rotor is independently rotatable about the inner rotor. One of the rotors has a plurality of permanent magnets configured in pairs and facing an air gap disposed between the outer rotor and the inner rotor. The other rotor has a plurality of slots spaced about a magnetically permeable core having embedded windings. The outer inner rotors are simultaneously rotatable in one direction. In response to rotation of the outer rotor portion and the inner rotor portion, a magnetic flux path is generated between the permanent magnet pairs, the air gap, the outer rotor core and the inner rotor portion core, to induce electrical power in the windings, which transfers power between the inner rotor portion and the outer rotor portion.
