Abstract: A method and flow for implementing a “clock tree” inside an ASIC using Sub-threshold or Near-threshold technology with optimal power. The invention may also implement concurrently use of two voltage domains inside a single place and route block. One voltage domain for the “clock tree” buffers and one voltage domain for the other cells at the block. The voltage domain for the “clock tree” buffers that is used is slightly higher than the voltage domain which is used for the other cells. The higher voltage ensures a large reduction of the total number of buffers inside the “clock tree” and the dynamic and static power are reduced dramatically despite the use of slightly higher operating voltage.

Abstract: The present invention provides for a method and circuit of an integrated circuit (IC) having dual row input/output (I/O). The circuit having a plurality of dual I/Os including an upper row of I/O and a lower row of I/O, with logic arranged in communication between the upper and the lower rows of the dual row I/O. The connectivity with the logic circuits of the present invention therefore provides for improving reliability and performance through more similar and uniform pathway connections. Advantageously, the present invention also provides for the reallocation of valuable footprint space as the logic is embedded within the dual row I/O thereby creating additional footprint space for further performance and other beneficial gain where interconnects as between the physical layer (PHY) logic and I/O cells are generally similar in length.

Abstract: A via-configurable logic block architecture for a Structured ASIC has a plurality of MOSFET transistor chains connected to one another through vias. In one embodiment there are three chains and the first transistor chain is a NFET transistor chain, the second transistor chain is a PFET transistor chain, and the third transistor chain is a NFET transistor chain. The first, second and third transistor chains are formed into devices made of transistors that are selected from a voltage threshold group consisting of LVT, SVT and HVT devices, where the first and third transistor chains are formed into devices from a voltage threshold group that is different from one another. In another embodiment transistor drive strength may be varied in the transistor chains of the logic block. In yet another embodiment both voltage threshold and drive strength may be varied together in a symmetrical manner.

Abstract: An on-chip timing slack monitor that measures timing slack at the end of a critical path includes a master-slave flip-flop having a tap on the Q output of the master and a logic module coupled to the flip-flop for producing a pulse whose width is a function of the slack. A pulse width shrinking delay line removes glitches on the flip-flop output and, in combination with a digital integrator and counter, also performs a time to digital conversion operation for determining a value for timing path slack. The determined value is used by a decision module for yield analysis. The monitor can discriminate a glitch from a slack pulse at the flip-flop output for any width of glitch up to one-half of a clock cycle.
