  • Patent number: 4270276
Abstract: A workpiece layout tool for precisely but expeditiously marking a plurality of points to be machined along the workpiece. A slide housing has parallel internal longitudinal grooves which allow the insertion of a slide bar, allowing longitudinal movement of the slide bar in relation to said slide housing. The outside end of the slide housing has two lips which allow the slide housing to be engaged with the reference edge of the workpiece. The outer end of the slide bar has a tab on its underside which rests against the reference edge of the workpiece to maintain a fixed relationship between a plurality of spaced apart holes located along the longitudinal center line of the slide bar and the workpiece. The holes may be threaded to receive appropriate marking implements such as pencil tips, ink tips, or machined scribing tips. A multiplicity of interchangable slide bars with different hole spacing or patterns may be used according to the specific design requirements of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4227307
Abstract: Apparatus including jig means and associated scribing means for scribing a wall panel for insertion into a wall area bounded on one side thereof by an already mounted wall panel and on the other side by a wall corner. The jig means is preferably of overall S-shaped configuration and includes a pair of oppositely disposed open ended slots, one of which receives therein the proximal edge of the already mounted wall panel. The base portions or inner ends of the slots overlap so as to be disposed a predetermined distance apart from each other, such that the roughly sized wall panel to be scribed may be disposed in the other slot so that the panel to be mounted overlaps the already mounted wall panel a distance equal to said predetermined distance. The scribing means includes a reference line follower and a scriber spaced apart from each other said predetermined distance such that a trim line may be scribed said predetermined distance inwardly from the other end of the panel to be mounted.

  • Patent number: 4197887
Abstract: A router guide assembly adapted to be releasably or semipermanently attached to the work face of a router. The router guide assembly includes a circular base plate having a central aperture through which the cutting bit of the router extends. A pair of guide posts may be adjustably mounted to the base plate on each side of the cutting bit perpendicularly to the base plate and are laterally adjustable relative to the cutting bit. The guide posts may also be removed from the base plate so that the base plate can serve as the work face of the router.

  • Patent number: 4171574
Abstract: An instrument for making graphic designs on walls or ceilings, including an elongated member having a plurality of rigid sections joined together by a unitary, integral flexible portion, center-line apertures spaced along the longitudinal axis of each rigid section providing a pivot point and a plurality of marking points along the instrument, each section having paired edge apertures spacially located along respective, opposite longitudinal edges of each section, and a paint pad having a pair of upstanding lugs for detachably mounting the paint pad at a selected pair of edge apertures to selectively place painted arc segments or stripes on walls or ceilings. A guide member having rollers can be mounted to one end of the instrument to aid in placing vertical or horizontal stripes on walls or ceilings. For very large wall or ceiling surfaces a link member can be used to couple together two instruments.

  • Patent number: 4144651
Abstract: A device for marking opposite sides of a double-layer of materials for clothing or the like having a pair of tongs with an upper arm positioned between a transparent or translucent pattern and the upper layer of the material, and a lower arm positioned between the lower layer of the material and a work surface. A handle end of the tongs positions the opposing open ends of the tongs under the portion of the pattern being transposed onto the material. The top of the opposing open end of the upper arm of the tongs has an outer dot or point sharply contrasting with the surface of the outer end, and an inner marking substance or chalk secured precisely under the contrasting dot.

  • Patent number: 4143463
Abstract: An auxiliary device for laying flexible wall and floor coverings includes an elongated angle plate having a supporting surface for the material to be cut to size and a pressure strip having a lower pressure surface of approximately the same length as the supporting surface and which has a cross-sectional profile which is configured to complement the profile of the supporting surface. The supporting surface has at one end a wedge-shaped end portion, the outer edge of which defines a supporting edge, and a cutting edge defined at its opposite end, which edges lie in a base plane. The angle plate also includes a part having a locating edge disposed parallel to the cutting edge. The angle plate in cross-sections lies substantially within an imaginary triangle, with its cutting edge, supporting edge and locating edge passing through one corner of the triangle.

  • Patent number: 4044805
Abstract: An improved arrangement by which a router may be accurately and inexpensively used to trim the edge of a laminate overlay flush with the edge of the underlying wooden member. It particularly comprises a guide fence having a relatively long straight edge interrupted centrally by a recess for the router bit, and provided with a rabbet into which the projecting edge of a rough trimmed laminate may project early in the edging process. The fence cooperates with a sub-base attachable to a router, and retains the versatility of the router for many usual applications.
