Abstract: A coating device for coating a coating solution on a web has a roller and a weir which partially constructs a solution store space. In the solution store space the coating solution is stored. When the web sequentially moves in a direction, the roller rotates and the solution in the solution store space is supplied on the web. Thereby a part of the solution overflows the weir such that another part of the solution may remain on the web to have a constant width in a widthwise direction of the web. A drying device has plural drying zones in which the web is fed after the coating of the coating solution. One of the drying zones is neighbored to the coating device. A top of the plural drying zones is constructed of a blow regulation member so as to confront to the solution on the web. The blow regulation member has holes through which is exhausted a gas evaporated from the layer of the solution on the web.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for drying a paper to be surface-treated, in particular fine paper, in an after-dryer in a paper machine. The paper web is first dried in a forward dryer section of the paper machine by one or more groups with single-wire draw that are open downward on support of a drying wire, the paper web is then finished in a finishing section, e.g., surface-sized or coated, and thereafter, the paper web is dried by an upwardly open inverted group with single-wire draw. In the inverted group with single-wire draw, the tendency of curling formed in the paper web in the forward dryer section can be substantially eliminated and/or compensated for.

Abstract: An apparatus for drying a cellulosic fibrous structure. The apparatus comprises a micropore medium having pores therethrough. The pores are the limiting orifice in the air flow used in the drying process. The micropore medium has a relatively low wet pressure drop therethrough. This relatively low wet pressure drop advantageously reduces the energy costs used in drying, and/or allows for greater drying to be obtained at constant energy costs.

Abstract: A sheet inspection apparatus for a sheet-fed offset printing press includes an endless conveying unit, a plurality of gripper units, and an inspection unit. The conveying unit has a conveying path and a return path and conveys a sheet delivered from a printing unit. The gripper units are supported by the conveying unit at a predetermined interval along a sheet conveying direction to grip one end of the sheet. The inspection unit is arranged on an opposite side of the conveying path with respect to the return path to optically inspect a printed state of the sheet conveyed on the conveying path. The inspection unit is arranged at a position where an optical inspection operation for the sheet at an inspection position on the conveying path is not impeded by the gripper units traveling on the return path.

Abstract: An extractor and a ventilation control window are coupled to the housing of a sheet delivery conveyor to extract unwanted heat, moisture, volatile vapors and obnoxious odors from the conveyor housing to eliminate the need for a separate venting system above the sheet delivery stacker. The suction airflow is varied by adjusting the speed of a vacuum source or motor driven fans, or by adjusting a ventilation window. A sheet control ventilation window is covered by a slidable, transparent panel which permits the operator to observe the orientation of the freshly printed sheets as the suction airflow is adjusted to precision. The sheet control window is also covered by a slidable screened panel which prevents introduction of objects into the press. Volatile vapors, moisture laden air and the like are also extracted from laterally opposite sides of the sheet delivery path, thus helping to control air turbulence at the delivery sheet stacker.

The elements for loading the lower run of the pressure belt permit the removal of humidity residing in the corrugated board web and these different elements are realized so as to allow the adjustment of their pressure force on the upper face of the lower run of the pressure belt. The elements include one or more brushes mounted to act on the upper surface of the lower run of the continuous belt.
