Monitoring In Addition To Control (e.g., Supervisory) Patents (Class 340/3.1)
  • Patent number: 8860568
Abstract: A security system for monitoring alarming situations inside of a home security safe and communicating alarm activation is taught which consists of a central processor, that receives input, processes sensed situations, stores information and provides an output alarm. A number of event detecting sensors, an IP surveillance camera and an electric circuit switch provide input into the central processor. Wireless communication and a memory activity log of keypad usage input are also provided. Output from the processor sends information to a central station, having an alarm enunciator and battery backup. Information is sent through a land line, or WIFI/wireless circuit, to a central monitoring station. There are two embodiments differing only in the interconnection between functional elements. A hard wired embodiment for OEM construction and a wireless WIFI embodiment is for aftermarket installation.

Abstract: Systems and methods for wirelessly detecting area changes are provided. Predetermined thresholds may be stored in memory. Each predetermined threshold is associated with a time of day, calendar day, and/or activity. The sensor may detect a change in the in the targeted area. The detected change is evaluated to determine an applicable threshold. Then it may be determined whether the detected change meets a predetermined threshold. If so, information regarding the change is wirelessly transmitted to an associated controller that controls light in the targeted area. The operation of the light may be controlled based on the wirelessly transmitted information.

  • Patent number: 8742884
Abstract: A sensor system includes at least one safety sensor unit for monitoring a safety relevant zone of a plant. The sensor system also includes a display unit connected to the sensory unit or integrated into it. The sensor system outputs a safety switch signal on an intrusion of an unpermitted object into the monitored, safety relevant zone and the safety sensor unit has an input interface for receiving a further safety switch signal. The input interface can be configured such that, on the one hand, it can receive the further safety switch signal and, on the other hand, can also receive external, non-safety relevant signals of an external device. The display unit is designed to display internal state data of the sensor system and information resulting from the external non-safety relevant signals.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing registration at a remote site that may include, for example, a monitoring module that may communicate with a remote site. A registration protocol may be used by the monitoring module and the remote site in generating the messages communicated during the registration process. The monitoring module may gather and generate various identification information to be included in the registration protocol messages. The registration information provided by the monitoring module may be stored at the remote site in a database server having a database. A confirmation message may be communicated from the remote site to the monitoring module that may either acknowledge successful registration or report that an error occurred during the registration process.

  • Patent number: 8717145
Abstract: A system and method selectively reads radio frequency identification (“RFID”) tags within an RFID interrogation zone. A portion of the RFID tags have a first operating range and a portion of the RFID tags have a second operating range that is different from the first operating range. Each RFID tag is programmed with an identifier associated with the operating range of the RFID tag. A first interrogation signal is transmitted which has sufficient power to activate RFID tags that are located within the RFID interrogation zone and have the first operating range. A response signal is received from each RFID tag capable of receiving the first interrogation signal. Each response signal indicates the identifier of the associated RFID tag. Each RFID tag that has an identifier associated with the first operating range is selected.

  • Patent number: 8713232
Abstract: An apparatus including a first circuit and a second circuit connected in parallel to the bidirectional communication path, and one of the first and second circuits being an active circuit monitoring a value of the data signal on the bidirectional communication path while the other of the first and second circuits being a passive circuit that is not monitoring the value of the data signal. The active circuit initially starts in a low gain state, but on detection of a transition by transition detection circuitry, it enters a high gain state where the switch circuitry disconnects the transition detection circuitry from the bidirectional communication path, and the drive circuitry is activated in order to drive the data signal on the bidirectional communication path to the opposite value. Once the data signal has been driven to the opposite value, the active circuit and the passive circuits switch states.
