  • Patent number: 11161692
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for generating RFID labels using a non-RFID label printer and an easy-to-attach RFID encoder. The RFID encoder comprises an RFID controller coupled to a network, one or more antennas, a label detector, and an RFID reader. The RFID encoder can be packed into two or more encoder units that are clipped onto the front and back of the non-RFID label printer. The RFID controller receives a packet of reader settings and a packet (array) of encode data via the one or more antennas. As unprinted labels pass through the non-RFID label printer and the RFID encoder, the label detector senses tags of the unprinted labels, and triggers the RFID controller and the non-RFID label printer to encode RFIDs onto the tags.

  • Patent number: 11134123
Abstract: A dynamically transitioning system for monitoring a shipping container transported by a transit vehicle for an environmental anomaly has ID nodes within the container (at least some being associated with objects being transported), a command node on the container, and an external master node at a known location on the vehicle. The command node operates as a primary monitor for the anomaly by monitoring signal activity from the ID nodes; identifying the anomaly based upon the signal activity; generating a layered alert notification that identifies a targeted mediation recipient and mediation action, and establishes a mediation response priority; and transmits the notification to an external transceiver on the transit vehicle to initiate a mediation response for the mediation action. The command node dynamically instructs the external master node to temporarily operate as the primary monitor when the command node is within a threshold distance from the external master node's location.

  • Patent number: 11120232
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for enabling early collision detection and handling in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)-based radio-frequency identification (RFID) systems. A tag receives an instruction from a reader to reflect either a single encoded bit or multiple encoded bits. The tag then reflects either the single encoded bit or the multiple encoded bits to the reader. The reader decodes the received encoded bit(s) from the tag, where the decoded bit(s) are placed in a vector or matrix by the reader. The vector/matrix is then transmitted to the tag, which determines if the reflected bit(s) agree with the corresponding bit(s) in the vector/matrix thereby indicating whether the reflected bit(s) were read successfully by the reader. The tag will then enter a no reflection mode in response to a disagreement between the reflected bit(s) with the corresponding bit(s) in the vector/matrix thereby preventing collisions from occurring.

  • Patent number: 11063373
Abstract: A non-invasive analyte sensor includes at least one transmit antenna/element that functions to transmit a transmit signal in a radio or microwave frequency range of the electromagnetic spectrum into a target containing an analyte of interest, and at least one receive antenna/element that functions to detect a response resulting from transmission of the transmit signal by the transmit antenna/element into the target. The transmit and receive antennas/elements are decoupled from one another which helps to improve the detection capability of the non-invasive analyte sensor. The decoupling between the transmit and receive antennas is achieved by using at least one intentionally fabricated configuration and/or arrangement therebetween that is sufficient to decouple the transmit antenna and the receive antenna from one another.

  • Patent number: 11027140
Abstract: The invention provides an implantable vagal nerve stimulator having a “passive” generating power source that harvests the stomach's movements to transform kinetic energy to electrical charge without the need for a battery. In this regard, the invention is self-powering and is automatically timed to stomach peristalsis. While sporadic stimulation to the vagal nerve would seem too infrequent to cause weight loss effects, electrical stimulation delivered at the optimal time (e.g., during food consumption) has been found to optimize the effects of vagal nerve stimulation, giving the user's brain a “full stomach” signal before the user over-consumes food.

  • Patent number: 11030870
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques to deactivate security tags associated with purchased products via a mobile application by using the Near Field Communications (NFC) protocol or other near field wireless capabilities of the mobile device to communicate with a stand-alone deactivator. In some instances, the mobile device may be configured to deactivate either single tag (“single deactivation”) or a plurality of tags (“bulk deactivation”) using an authorization code. Features of the present disclosure provide advantages over conventional systems in terms of convenience for the customer and lower hardware requirements. Specifically, unlike current systems, the stand-alone deactivator of the present disclosure does not need to be part of or connected to the POS network to enable or inhibit the deactivation of security tags. The information needed to enable deactivation may be transferred to the deactivator using the NFC or other near field wireless capabilities of a mobile device.

  • Patent number: 11017349
Abstract: An RFID loss-prevention system (LPS) may monitor RFID-tagged items in a facility. An RFID reader transmits a first inventory command configured to cause tags in a first state to respond, receive a reply from a first tag, determine that the first tag has a low transition risk, and cause the first tag to switch to a second state. The reader may also receive a reply from a second tag, determine that the second tag has a high transition risk, and cause the second tag to remain in the first state. The reader may then transmit a second inventory command configured to cause tags in the first state to respond, receive a reply from the second tag in response to the second inventory command, determine that the second tag has inappropriately exited the facility, and issue an alert.
