Then, a second touch input may be made at a second position of the touch input device while the first touch input remains at the first position of the touch input device. The second touch input may be advanced from the second position to a third position while the first touch input remains fixed at the first position. After advancing, the displayed image may be rotated based on a change in slope of a virtual line connecting the first touch input and the second touch input as the second touch input advances from the second position to the third position.

Abstract: A method for image processing includes receiving in a computerized image processor a source image having a source size and a definition of a target size that is different from the source size, and defining a plurality of different sequences of two or more different image retargeting operations that when applied to the source image, generates respective target images of the target size. The different sequences are automatically tested, using the image processor, by measuring respective similarities of the respective target images to the source image. One of the sequences is selected responsively to the similarities, and the selected one of the sequences is applied to the source image, using the image processor, in order to generate a target image.

Abstract: An information display device includes: an image display unit that displays an image according to an orientation of a display screen; a terminal posture detection unit that detects a posture of the device using an acceleration sensor, an angular velocity sensor, and a geomagnetic sensor; and a display direction determination unit that determines whether or not the posture of the device changes, and determines the orientation of the display screen. In the case where the display screen is substantially horizontal and the posture of the device changes, the orientation of the display screen is determined so that, when the device moves by a predetermined angle or more with respect to the orientation (reference orientation) of the display screen before the determination of the posture change, a side of the device at the predetermined angle or more from the reference orientation corresponds to the top of the display screen.

Provided in this disclosure is selective rendering of a structured document according to the orientation of the display screen. A structured document such as as webpage is rendered (as a first rendered document) for display according to the document object model structure and optionally styles provided with the webpage. The same webpage is rendered (as a second rendered document) by removing or replacing selected objets in the document object model structure, or by applying different style directives than included in the originally received webpage. When the display screen is in a first orientation, the first rendered document is displayed. When a change in orientation of the display screen to the second orientation is detected, the second rendered document is displayed.

Abstract: Viewing of a scrolled image on a display screen is facilitated. Assume that a first image portion (81) is being displayed on the display screen of a mobile telephone and that a second image portion (82) is not being displayed on the screen. If scrolling is performed rightward in order to display the second image portion (82) on the display screen, data representing the scrolling direction and scrolling amount is transmitted from the mobile telephone to an image server. The image server rotates the second image portion (82) in accordance with the scrolling direction, reads the rotated second image portion (82) block by block and transmits the resultant image data to the mobile telephone block by block. The mobile telephone rotates the block images reversely through the angle of the original rotation and displays the blocks in order.
