Abstract: An apparatus and a method for displaying a popup window in a portable terminal is provided. The apparatus includes a display unit for displaying the popup window along a longer side of a display area of the display unit, according to a display mode of the portable terminal; and a controller for controlling the display unit to display the popup window along the longer side as well as a selected generation position corresponding to the popup window, as a reference, according to the display mode of the portable terminal.
Abstract: When the device is rotated from a portrait orientation to landscape orientation, or vice versa, the display device rotates the content items within distinct respective content regions of a page template (“slots”) that each appear to stay in their same position with respect to a frame of reference of the display device. While the content regions stay in their same positions, the content within each content region counter-rotates in place to offset the rotation of the display device. Thus, the content within the content regions maintains an orientation with respect to a constant (non-rotating) frame of reference, regardless of the orientation or rotation of the display device. In one embodiment, a slot's position, height, and width in a template in a second orientation are determined from the slot's position, height, and width in the template in a first orientation.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reorienting displayed data responsive to resizing a window in which the data is displayed is disclosed. Data is displayed in a window in a first orientation. Responsive to receiving an input modifying the size of the window, it is determined whether to reorient the data displayed in the window based on the modified size of the window. For example, if the modified size of the window exceeds a threshold, the data is reoriented. Responsive to determining to reorient the data, the window is resized to the modified size and the data is displayed in a second orientation. In one embodiment the first orientation is orthogonal to the second orientation.
