  • Patent number: 10277115
Abstract: A power factor correction (PFC) system includes an error control module that determines a first current demand based on a difference between a desired direct current (DC) voltage and a measured DC voltage. A filter module applies a filter to the first current demand to produce a second current demand. A weighting module (i) based on the difference, determines first and second weighting values for the first and second current demands, respectively, (ii) determines a third current demand based on the first current demand and the first weighting value, and (iii) determines a fourth current demand based on the second current demand and the second weighting value. A current demand module determines a final current demand based on the third current demand and fourth current demand. A current control module controls switching of a switch of a PFC device based on the final current demand.

Abstract: When recording real-time data on a DVD streamer or DVR the arrival time ATC of every real-time packet received by the recorder is stored along with the data on the recording medium. This is done to provide—by means of the ATCs—the same timing for the playback of the stored real-time stream as the timing of the recording process. However, a data stream received via the Internet TCP/IP protocol having a varying data rate is not played back correctly because the variations of the data rate of the received data stream are present in the played back signal. In the inventive data stream recording an arrival time stamp is provided for each data packet of said data stream, which arrival time stamps represent the arrival times of said data packets and are intended for temporally correct replay of the data stream to be recorded. However, said arrival time stamps are re-stamped in accordance with a desired data rate for the playback of said data stream to be recorded.

  • Patent number: 6480545
Abstract: An architecture for multi-format video processing of both high definition and standard definition television signals has a pair of processing paths. For HDTV one path processes the luminance component signal and the other path processes an interleaved color difference signal that is the combination of a pair of color difference component signals. For SDTV only a single path is used. The luminance and color difference component signals are interleaved together and optionally stuffed with filler bits to provide an interleaved signal at a high data rate, such as the HDTV data rate or one-half the HDTV data rate, for processing. After processing the SDTV components are deinterleaved from the processed interleaved signal. The color difference component signals may be upsampled prior to interleaving and subsampled after deinterleaving to simplify control signals. Thus the architecture provides a single processor for processing either an HDTV signal or two SDTV signals, one on each of the two HDTV paths.

  • Patent number: 6366324
Abstract: In a method for encoding a non-interlaced signal (60P) into an interlaced signal (60I) and an auxiliary signal, the interlaced signal (60I) is generated in dependence on the non-interlaced signal (60P), and the auxiliary signal is generated by furnishing regeneration coefficients enabling a reconstruction of non-encoded lines (o: D) of the non-interlaced signal (60P) in dependence on the interlaced signal (60I: A, B, C) and the regeneration coefficients. The invention is preferably applied in a method of processing non-interlaced signals by equipment, such as studio equipment, developed for processing interlaced signals.

Abstract: The method and system of this invention predictively encodes and decodes an image signal that has been treated with the Roberts Method. The method and system generates a noise signal that is substantially similar to the noise signal generated during the Roberts Method treatment, calculates a range of values for the original image signal based upon an image signal from a different pixel location, predicts the image signal based upon the range of values and the noise signal and calculates an error signal that is encoded. The decoding method and system operates in reverse of the encoding method and system.

  • Patent number: 6326960
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for providing video output phase control in a decoder. In particular, the present invention provides a decoder that precisely aligns output of video display data with a time stamp associated with the video display data and thereby allows for efficient usage of compressed video buffer memory in the decoder. In one embodiment, the decoder includes a video output processor for displaying video data and a timer connected to the video output processor for providing video output phase control. A method is also provided for providing video output phase control in the decoder.
