The image processing method includes receiving three-dimensional (3D) image data; generating additional information about the 3D image data; and inserting the additional information in a blanking interval of the 3D image data.
Abstract: A representative Device and Method for 3-D Display Control is disclosed. The method for controlling stereo image display is disclosed. That is, to receive an image input signal wherein the image input signal includes a first refresh rate; to convert a frame rate of the image input signal to generate an image output signal, wherein the image output signal includes a second refresh rate which is higher than the first refresh rate, and includes a first image signal, a first VBI (Vertical Blanking Interval), a second image signal, a second VBI, a third image signal and a third VBI; to output a control signal for a left eye shutter of shutter glasses during a duration between the first VBI and a part of the second image signal; and to output a control signal for a right eye shutter of the shutter glasses during a duration between a part of the third image signal and the third VBI.
Abstract: The vertical blanking period is an idle period in video transmission that was originally intended for allowing the trace back of an electron beam to its point of origin. When sending the video signal over a wireless channel, the wireless channel may remain free of transmission of data during this period. However, in wireless transmission of a video signal in general, and in the transmission of an essentially uncompressed video signal in particular, there is a need to use all the bandwidth available, especially when transmitting a high-definition video signal. Therefore, a method is taught for using the vertical blanking period of a video signal for modem maintenance.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method for blocking scenes with objectionable content comprises receiving incoming content, namely a scene of a program. Thereafter, using closed captioning information, a determination is made if the scene of the program includes objectionable content, and if so, blocking the scene from being displayed.

Abstract: Apparatus is provided by which a television viewer can view other images e.g. during commercials or main program. For example, during a commercial, a viewer may channel surf or surf the internet. A banner is provided on a viewing screen while the viewer watches these other images. In this way the advertiser providing those commercials can still reach those viewers who are channel or internet surfing. Also, the banner will indicate to the viewer when the commercial is over and the normal programming has resumed. In another embodiment, during the main program user can activate one or more small commercial windows and position them on the screen based on his preference, e.g. using a remote device. Information is communicated to a broadcaster by the viewer's video system indicating the above-mentioned commercial windows are open on the viewer's screen.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for processing a vertical blanking interval (VBI) signal and video signal are provided. An exemplary apparatus comprises a VBI decoder, a mixer, and a TV encoder. The VBI decoder is configured to receive and decode the VBI signal to generate a decoded VBI signal. The mixer is configured to mix the video signal and decoded VBI signal to generate a mixed signal. The TV encoder is configured to encode the mixed signal to generate a first TV compatible signal for TV display. After receiving the first TV compatible signal, the TV not equipped with a VBI decoder can display the contents of the video signal and VBI signal.
Abstract: A video signal and an audio signal are time division multiplexed, encrypted, and transmitted. A transmission side time-compresses the audio signal, multiplexes, encrypts, and transmits the time-compressed audio signal in a blanking period of the video signal. Control is performed using an audio signal data enable signal ADE, and an audio signal/video signal switch signal.

Abstract: A communication system and method for communicating teletext information to mobile stations. A wireless access protocol (WAP) server is coupled to a television station and receives a signal which includes teletext information from the station. The WAP server includes a teletext decoder which decodes the teletext information in the transmitted signal. The decoded information is stored in memory using a server controller. The controller receives information requests from a network interface coupled to the mobile stations. The controller accesses the teletext information stored in memory and transmits the information to the mobile station through the network interface.
