  • Patent number: 9342914
Abstract: Implementations of the present invention involve methods and systems for converting a 2-D multimedia image to a 3-D multimedia image by utilizing a plurality of layers of the 2-D image. The layers may comprise one or more portions of the 2-D image and may be digitized and stored in a computer-readable database. The layers may be reproduced as a corresponding left eye and right eye version of the layer, including a pixel offset corresponding to a desired 3-D effect for each layer of the image. The combined left eye layers and right eye layers may form the composite right eye and composite left eye images for a single 3-D multimedia image. Further, this process may be applied to each frame of a animated feature film to convert the film from 2-D to 3-D.

Abstract: A closed-loop control system for stereoscopic video capture is provided. At least two motorized lenses are positioned in accordance with specified parameters to capture spatially-disparate images of a scene. The motorized lenses focus light on a corresponding one of the at least two sensors, which generate image streams. One or more processors execute instructions to provide a stream analyzer and a control module. The stream analyzer receives the image streams from the sensors and analyzes the image streams and the specified parameters in real time; the stream analyzer then modifies the image streams and generates metadata. The control module then receives and analyzes the image streams and metadata and transmits updated parameters to a control mechanism that is coupled to the at least two motorized lenses. The control mechanism then modifies operation of the at least two motorized lenses in real time in accordance with the updated parameters.

Abstract: The present invention is for more optimally performing recording and reproduction of stereoscopic video. In the present invention, parallax information is utilized to store, in a recording medium, stereoscopic video including left-eye images and right-eye images. Particularly, for video content that contains stereoscopic images, information is obtained regarding the amount of variation in parallactic angle having a given or larger value, a variation time that the variation in parallactic angle takes, and the number of times that the variation in parallactic angle occurs. An evaluation value is calculated that corresponds to the degree of eye fatigue on the basis of the amount of variation, the variation time, and the number of times of the variation. According to the present invention, the video content is encoded in such a manner that the evaluation value is within a given range, and then recorded in the recording medium.
