Abstract: A method of processing on screen display data with an image post processor includes receiving a data stream from a video processor at a post processing device having at least one port, the data stream including on screen display data overlaid on a white background and the on screen display data overlaid on a black background, finding a difference between the on screen display data overlaid on white and the on screen display data overlaid on black, using the difference to determine a complement of an alpha blend value, performing image processing on the image data with the post processor by applying the complement of an alpha blend value to the image data to produce processed image data, and transmitting the processed image data and the on screen display data through a display port.

Abstract: A portable device includes solid-state memory, an Ethernet and/or wireless network connection, and an HDMI. The portable device receives content guide data from a first server and displays a content guide on a display. In response to a user's selection of a content item, the portable device requests the content item over the Internet from a second server. The portable device receives the content item, stores the content item in solid-state memory, generates display signals that represent the content item, and sends the display signals to a display. The second server may match the content item with relevant advertisements based on keywords associated with the content item and the advertisements. The second server may send selected advertisement URLs to the portable device. Using the URLs, the portable device may obtain the advertisements over the Internet and cause the display to display the advertisements in conjunction with the content item.

Abstract: A display apparatus is controlled using brain waves. Brain wave information of a user is obtained and compared with pre-stored brain wave information previously mapped to control signals. A control signal corresponding to the brain wave information is generated, and the display apparatus is controlled according to the generated control signal. As a result, a user may control a display apparatus more conveniently and the display apparatus may provide various beneficial applications that take advantage of the capture of the brain wave information.

Abstract: A user interface for interactive television services is represented as a visual overlay that provides a viewer with knowledge of a library of available content relating to a currently tuned to television channel and navigation options for selecting desired portions of the available content from the library, the available content being designated according to business rules specified by a provider of the interactive television services. The visual overlay may be displayed over full-screen or embedded television programming, which may be broadcast television programming or on-demand television programming.

Abstract: A portable communication device for remote control of a multimedia device includes a motion sensor, a command generation module and a wireless communication interface. The motion sensor senses various motions of the portable communication device and generates signals corresponding to the sensed motions. The command generation module translates one or more of the signals into remote control commands for remote control of the multimedia device. The wireless communication interface transmits the remote control commands to the multimedia device. A method for remote control of the multimedia device using the portable communication device is also provided.

Abstract: Described are methods and apparatus for enhancing an information resource, such as a Web page, simultaneously residing in memory on a number of remote receivers. A content creator, (e.g., a program producer, broadcaster, affiliate, cable company or satellite provider), embeds a trigger in a data service channel of a broadcast signal. The trigger includes a resource identifier unique to the information resource and a script capable of modifying the information resource. The script might be a script or a segment of a script written in a conventional scripting language. Each receiver that includes the targeted information resource monitors the data service channel of the broadcast video signal for script-bearing triggers directed to that resource. If a receiver receives a script-bearing trigger directed to the resident resource, the receiver executes the script contained within the trigger to alter the resource and/or the displayed video defined by the resource.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing user-selected color characteristics for an LCD device to a host system are disclosed. An exemplary method includes receiving user input at the LCD device, the user input specifying color information for each of a plurality of color presets selected by the user. The method also includes each time the user changes color information for each of the plurality of color presets selected by the user, merging the color information with static information for the LCD device. The method also includes communicating the merged color information and static information to the host system in a standardized format.

Each character is further assigned to a different number of presses of the respective directional navigation key. At least one press of one of the four directional navigational keys is detected and the character assigned to the detected at least one press is selected. Abstract: A software or hardware agent running on a personal computing device provides allows application programs to interact with consumer electronic devices using standardized controls. The consumer electronic devices appear to be directly connected to the personal computing device rather than being connected over a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) network. This enables a user to control the consumer electronic devices using a single interface rather than a separate interface for each consumer electronic device. The agent enumerates a universal serial bus (USB) human interface device (HID) for each consumer electronic device reported on the HDMI network. The USB HIDs represent the specific capabilities of the each one of the consumer electronic devices.

Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a method for inserting secondary content into a media stream includes dividing the media stream having a plurality of frames into a plurality of shots at a processor. The method further includes grouping consecutive shots from the plurality of shots into a plurality of scenes. A first list of insertion points is generated for introducing the secondary content. The insertion points of the first list are boundaries between consecutive scenes in the plurality of scenes. An average insertion point saliency of the media stream is generated at the insertion points in the first list. A second list of insertion points is then generated. The insertion points in the second list are arranged to maximize a function of the average insertion point saliency and a distance between each insertion point in the second list with other insertion points in the second list.

Based on a 3D display for displaying a stereoscopic image, a 3D display information supplier acquires the coordinates of portions that are not used for 3D display representation as the coordinates of the pixels with which visual information is combined. An image synthesizer combines visual information obtained at Step S2 with the pixel at the coordinates set at Step S3. Visual information is combined with all the portions at the coordinates to be processed, and the image with visual information synthesized is stored in a stereo image storage. In this way, if additional information is added to the stereoscopic image, no uncomfortable feeling will occur when the image is viewed in stereoscopic vision.
