Abstract: In a radio broadcast receiving apparatus and a broadcast frequency detection method, a frequency fm at which a reception strength (an S meter value) that is equal to or greater than a threshold value Th0 and is greater than reception strengths at frequencies (fm?1) and (fm+1) adjacent to the frequency fm by one step by X or more, is detected as a broadcast reception frequency that is a frequency at which a receivable broadcast is performed. The value of X is set so that it increases with the increase in the reception strength (S meter value) at the frequency fm. As a result, a frequency at which a broadcast is performed can be more accurately detected.

Abstract: One or more methods and systems of indexing an AVC video stream are presented. In one embodiment, the method comprises identifying one or more fields within a picture of an AVC video stream. In one embodiment, a field of the one or more fields indicates the beginning of each picture. In a second embodiment, a field of the one or more fields indicates a picture type of a picture. In a third embodiment, a field of the one or more fields indicates whether a picture is a reference or a non-reference picture. By determining that a picture is a non-reference picture, the picture may be discarded, thereby reducing the memory required to implement the indexing system while increasing the available memory size. In one embodiment, a system of indexing an AVC video stream comprises a control processor, a memory, and a set of instructions resident in the memory.

The first image of a defined subject can be obtained from a computer memory. The first image may be a downsampled fine image with image detail. The second image captured of the defined subject in the first image can be obtained from a computer memory. The second image may be a coarse image. A target pixel in the second image can be selected. A target color distribution for a pixel window of the target pixel can then be computed. A source color distribution for a pixel window of a corresponding pixel in the first image can be computed using a computer processor. Further, a statistic of the target pixel can be determined with respect to the target color distribution. The source color in the source color distribution can be computed with the statistic. The target pixel color can then be replaced by the source color.

  • Patent number: 7450134
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating images, compressing image data, decompressing image data, and processing the decompressed image data so that it can be used by a rendering circuit of a device, e.g., a set top box, are described. Images are generated in the native format used by the rendering circuit of the device which will ultimately control the display of the image avoiding the need to perform processing associated with converting color component information from one format to another. Uncompressed image data is arranged in a file with color component values being grouped separately from alpha values to facilitate compression by a standard file compression technique. The file is compressed using a conventional file compression operation. The compressed image file is decompressed when needed and the alpha data and color component data is reorganized so that the color component values and alpha value(s) corresponding to individual pixels are grouped together.

  • Patent number: 7440036
Abstract: Even when a user is by the immediate side of a screen of a large screen television receiver such as a plasma TV receiver, the user can view an image displayed on the screen entirely by contracting the image to be displayed, and power consumption of the television receiver can be reduced. When the user choose a contraction mode for displaying the image with contraction, the video signal processor performs pixel skipping of video data corresponding to predetermined pixels to video data of a television signal received by a tuner. The display panel displays a contracted image with an initial contraction ratio at an initial display position on a screen of the display panel with using the processed video data. The contraction ratio and the display position of the contracted image on the screen of the display panel can be varied optionally by operating a wireless remote controller, corresponding to a distance between the user and the screen of the display panel or according to the user's predilection.

Abstract: An apparatus to process image sections and a control method thereof to include an image processing apparatus to divide an image frame into a plurality of image sections, and to transmit the divided image sections at different transmission rates. Additionally, the image processing apparatus receives the image sections at different transmission rates, and generates an image frame based on the received image sections. Accordingly, the image frame is divided into the plurality of image sections and the transmission rates may be different for each image section, and thus it is possible to transmit the image in real time. In addition, the image section is transmitted to reduce the transmission size, and therefore the compression ratio of the specific image section can be lowered to play back the high-resolution image.

Abstract: A broadcast receiving device includes a first receiving unit, a second receiving unit, a display control unit, an audio determination unit, a switching determination unit and a switching execution unit. The display control unit displays a first image corresponding to a first television broadcast received by the first receiving unit on a main screen in a monitor, and displays a second image corresponding to a second television broadcast received by the second receiving unit on a subscreen in the monitor. The switching determination unit compares a first audio corresponding to the first television broadcast with a second audio corresponding to the second television broadcast, and determines whether or not the second audio is to be outputted instead of the first audio. The switching execution unit executes audio switching processing based on a determination result of the switching determination unit so that the second audio is outputted instead of the first audio.

Abstract: The data conversion device of the present invention includes: a coding section for replacing (i) one or more components constituting the display data of each pixel and other one or more components constituting display data of a pixel existing around that pixel on a screen with (ii) one or more average values of both the components so as to reduce an amount of data; and a decoding section for reading out compressed data from a frame memory and then allotting the average value as display data for each corresponding pixel. Therefore, unlike a case of adopting a conventional general data compression method, the data conversion device of the present invention can prevent deviation between original display data and display data obtained by a compression/restoration process from becoming large.
