  • Publication number: 20110216247
Abstract: A signal processing device includes a first and a second reconfigurable circuit whose logic configuration can be changed. With the reconfigurable circuits sequentially reconfigured, the signal processing device conducts processes regarding signals transmitted to and from a connected external device. At a first temporal point that is after completion of reconfiguration of the first reconfigurable circuit based on the first configuration information and before completion of reconfiguration of the second reconfigurable circuit based on the second reconfigurable circuit, a signal transmission path is formed between an external interface connected to the external device and an internal interface connected to an internal device, with the first reconfigurable circuit inserted into the signal transmission path.

  • Patent number: 8013941
Abstract: A DTV receiver includes a tuner, an information detector, a demodulator, and a channel equalizer. The tuner receives a broadcast signal including valid data in which a known data sequence is periodically repeated. The information detector detects location information of the known data sequence and a coarse frequency offset value of the broadcast signal. The demodulator demodulates the broadcast signal by estimating a fine frequency offset value using the detected location information and by compensating a frequency offset of the broadcast signal using the course and fine frequency offset values. Finally, the channel equalizer compensates channel distortion of the demodulated signal using the detected location information.

Abstract: A digital television (DTV) receiving system includes a known data detector, and a channel impulse response (CIR) estimator, a CIR calculator, a coefficient calculator, and a multiplier. The known data detector detects positions of known data and field sync data included in a data group. The CIR estimator estimates CIRs of the data included in the data group using the detected positions of the field sync data and the known data. The CIR calculator performs interpolation or extrapolation based on a characteristic of each data region included in the data group. The coefficient calculator calculates equalization coefficients using the estimated CIRs, and the multiplier multiplies the data in the data group with the coefficients.

Abstract: There are provided methods and apparatus for fast channel change when changing the channel from a channel being viewed full screen to a channel being viewed in a secondary display window (e.g., picture-in-picture (PIP) window). In one implementation, the base layer stream of the SVC encoded stream is used as the secondary stream for the secondary display and the corresponding enhancement layer stream is used as the corresponding regular stream. Upon channel change request, the decoded base layer picture of the SVC encoded stream is up-sampled, and the up-sampled base layer picture is displayed full screen while receiving the corresponding SVC enhancement layer stream. Then, the up-sampled base layer picture is replaced by the decoded enhancement layer picture upon confirmation of successful receiving and decoding of an enhancement layer instantaneous decode refresh (IDR) frame.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for fast channel change when changing the channel from a channel being viewed full screen as a main picture to a channel being viewed in a secondary channel program display window (e.g., a picture-in-picture (PIP) window). In one implementation, during the channel change, a secondary video stream for a secondary channel program is up-sampled and displayed full screen while receiving the corresponding regular video stream for the video program, of which program contents are identical to those of the secondary video stream. The program contents of the up-sampled secondary video stream is then be replaced seamlessly with those of the corresponding regular video stream at the time when an instantaneous decode refresh (IDR) frame of the corresponding regular video stream is received.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing signals in a communication system are disclosed and may include demodulating a wirelessly received inband signal and a wirelessly received out-of-band signal via a DTV receiver. One or more TV channels may be generated based on the demodulation of the wirelessly received inband signal and a wirelessly received out-of-band signal. The received inband signal may include a VSB signal, a NTSC signal and/or a QAM signal. The processing may also include determining whether the wirelessly received inband signal includes an analog signal or a digital signal. The digital signal may be error corrected, and the error corrected digital signal may be equalized. The analog signal may be decoded, and an audio output may be generated based on the decoding of the analog signal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a communication system, a transmitter, a receiver, a communication method, a program, and a communication cable for providing high-speed bidirectional communication while maintaining compatibility. When an HDMI (R) source 71 performs bidirectional IP communication with an HDMI (R) sink 72 using a CEC line 84 and a signal line 141, a switching control unit 121 controls a switch 133 so that, when data is transmitted, the switch 133 selects a constituent signal forming a differential signal output from a converting unit 131 and, when data is transmitted, the switch 133 selects a constituent signal forming a differential signal output from a receiver 82. When bidirectional communication is performed using only the CEC line 84, the switching control unit 121 controls the switch 133 so that the CEC signal output from the HDMI (R) source 71 or the receiver 82 is selected. The present invention is applicable to, for example, HDMI (R).

Abstract: A low-power high dynamic range RF input stage (200) with a noiseless degeneration component, such as a capacitor (201), is provided. High dynamic range means a combination of low noise contribution by the stage (200) and a low level of intermodulation products occurring especially at high input levels. Low power means that the power consumption of a conventional input stage is about 5 times higher than the power consumption of the stage according to the invention, for the same noise, gain and distortion level. This new stage can be used in amplifiers, but also in the lower stage of double balanced mixers (300-400) commonly used in RF receivers, examples of which are applications, are provided.
