  • Patent number: 8094166
Abstract: A method for correcting color characteristics of a flat panel display comprises the steps of using a signal generating device to generate an input signal to the display and a color measurement instrument to measure color displayed by the display to obtain an output value; obtaining corrected color characteristic values necessary for the display to display a target output value Txyz through the relation of an inverse function RGB=f?1(XYZ) between the input signal RGB and output value XYZ, and storing the corrected color characteristic values and an identification code of the display into a storage medium. The corrected color characteristic values are downloaded to a hard disk of a computer from the storage medium according to the identification code; and the computer uses a driver of the display to activate the flat panel display to display a corrected color according to the corrected color characteristic values.

  • Patent number: 8094167
Abstract: A display color correcting method is provided. A first plurality of input color values are provided to a display, wherein the input color values correspond to a plurality of vertices of a plurality of cubes within a cubic color space of the display. Each cube has two vertices arranged along a gray diagonal of the cubic color space. A response value is measured for each of the color values and a first plurality of calibration values is determined, the calibration values corresponding to the first plurality of input color values. A second plurality of calibration values corresponding to a second plurality of input color values is determined by interpolating the first plurality of calibration values.

  • Patent number: 8089659
Abstract: 4+ color management sequentially processes four colors at a time from among the 4+ colors to leverage solution capability using a 4-color management tools. In methods and apparatus for processing 4+ colors, received information of 4+ colors may be processed in a first stage using four colors of the 4+ colors, such as CMYO. The processed four colors are then mapped into three virtual colors. The mapped three virtual colors and one additional unprocessed color of the 4+ colors are then processed in a second stage using a 4-color tool. From this, a second color model of at least five colors (4+) is generated. The resulting four colors determine five printer colors, and are then mapped into three virtual colors. The mapped three virtual colors and one additional unprocessed color of the 4+ colors are then processed in a third stage using a 4-color tool. From this, a third color model of at least five colors (4+) is generated.

  • Patent number: 8085433
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method wherein each pixel is tagged with a special VI (Variable Information) flag, which indicates the color of the pixel is variable or fixed. When the document gets created during raster image processing (“ripping”), the output CMYK of the VI and non-VI pixels are constrained to be odd and even numbers, respectively. In the meantime, a special TRC is created, and the VI colors are obtained through this special TRC at the odd indices, while the non-VI colors are obtained through the even indices. To enable the variable colorization printing, the job needs to be ripped once and saved. The saved job then can be reprinted multiple times with different TRCs that have the same values at the even indices, but different values at the odd indices.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus, program product, and method determine an achievable gamut achievable by the imaging engine or engines for all spatial locations of an output image, or all utilized print engines. A reference gamut is calculated which is any gamut containing the achievable gamut. A gamut mapping is used to map gamuts from the mean gamut to the achievable gamut, and a set of transformations is calculated for each of a set of input colors to a set of target colors selected from colors in the achievable gamut. Values for a received digital image are transformed for each image pixel or clusters of pixels based on the calculated set of transformations. Output images are generated based on the transformed values.

  • Patent number: 8072658
Abstract: Since many ICC profile generation tools print and measure a large number of color patches and then make profile generation calculations, profile re-generation requires a long time. Hence, patch data are generated, calorimetric values corresponding to the patch data are obtained. Reference values of an Lab color space, which correspond to the patch data, are calculated using a conversion lookup table from a CMYK color space to the Lab color space, which is included in a profile. A conversion lookup table from the Lab color space to the CMYK color space, which is included in the profile, is updated using the calorimetric values and reference values.
