Control Of Data Admission To The Network Patents (Class 370/230)
  • Patent number: 11064531
Abstract: Random access preambles (130) are grouped in accordance with one of a plurality of grouping schemes (125). Different grouping schemes (125) are associated with different types of group selection criteria. A wireless device (110) (e.g., a user equipment) determines which one of the plurality of grouping schemes (125) the random access preambles (130) are grouped in accordance with, and selects, from among groups (135) of the random access preambles (130) as defined in accordance with the determined grouping scheme (125), a group (135) based on the type of group selection criteria associated with the determined grouping scheme (125). The wireless device (110) attempts random access to a base station (105) using a random access preamble (120) selected from the selected group (135).

  • Patent number: 11063883
Abstract: This disclosure provides for an enhancement to a transport layer switch and, in particular the management of end points. In this approach, a memory space, such as a large logical ring buffer, is shared by incumbent connections to facilitate a space multiplexing end point management scheme. Preferably, memory allocation in the memory space is done packet-by-packet dynamically. Because the memory space is shared by all admitted connections, packets belonging to the same connection are not necessarily located physically consecutive to each other. A packet indexing mechanism that implements a set of pointers ensures that consecutiveness for packets on the same connection is maintained. This approach to end point multiplexing provides significant benefits by improving resource utilization, and enabling a higher number of connections to be served.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a network node automatically cycles among packet traffic flows and subjects the currently selected packet flows to varying drop probabilities in a packet network, such as, but not limited to in response to congestion in a device or network. Packets of a currently selected packet traffic flow are subjected to a drop or forward decision with a higher drop probability than packets of a currently non-selected flow. By cycling through all of these packet traffic flows, all of these packet flows are subjected to the drop or forward decision in the long term approximately uniformly, thus providing fairness to all packet traffic flows. In the short term, packets of a currently selected flow are targeted for possible dropping with a higher drop probability providing unfairness to the currently selected flows over the non-selected flows.

Abstract: The disclosure is related to adaptive transcoding of video streams from a camera. A camera system includes a camera and a base station connected to each other in a first communication network, which can be a wireless network. When a user requests to view a video from the camera, the base station obtains a video stream from the camera, transcodes the video stream, based on one or more input parameters, to generate a transcoded video stream, and transmits the transcoded video stream to a user device. The base station can transcode the video stream locally, e.g., within the base station, or in a cloud network based on transcoding location factors. Further, the camera system can also determine whether to stream the video to the user directly from the base station or from the cloud network based on streaming location factors.

  • Patent number: 11003482
Abstract: Some embodiments provide novel methods for performing services for machines operating in one or more datacenters. For instance, for a group of related guest machines (e.g., a group of tenant machines), some embodiments define two different forwarding planes: (1) a guest forwarding plane and (2) a service forwarding plane. The guest forwarding plane connects to the machines in the group and performs L2 and/or L3 forwarding for these machines. The service forwarding plane (1) connects to the service nodes that perform services on data messages sent to and from these machines, and (2) forwards these data messages to the service nodes. In some embodiments, the guest machines do not connect directly with the service forwarding plane. For instance, in some embodiments, each forwarding plane connects to a machine or service node through a port that receives data messages from, or supplies data messages to, the machine or service node.

  • Patent number: 11005724
Abstract: A design tool for network interconnection includes a processor coupled to an input device and to an output device. The processor receives via the input device design parameters including: (i) a number G of groups of network elements, (ii) a number S of spines associated with each group, and (iii) a number P of ports that each spine has for connecting to other spines, using short-cable connections or long-cable connections. The processor determines an interconnection plan by specifying connections among spines belonging to different groups, in a clique or a bipartite scheme, so that for given values of G, S and P, (i) a number of the long-cable connections among the spines is minimized, and (ii) a number of inter-group connections is balanced among the G groups up to a deviation of a single connection. The processor outputs to the output device instructions for applying the interconnection plan.

  • Patent number: 10990440
Abstract: Methods and systems for improving the performance of a distributed job scheduler using job self-scheduling and job stealing are described. The distributed job scheduler may schedule jobs to be run among data storage nodes within a cluster. Each node in the cluster may make a localized decision regarding which jobs should be executed by the node by periodically polling candidate jobs from a table of candidate jobs stored using a distributed metadata store. Upon completion of a job, the job may self-schedule another instance of itself if the next instance of the job should be run before the next polling of candidate jobs by the node that ran the completed job. The node may attempt to steal one or more jobs from a second node within the cluster if a job queue length for a job queue associated with the node falls below a queue length threshold.
