  • Patent number: 11397988
Abstract: Methods and systems to prevent adverse exchange limit effects are disclosed. An example method of message management includes tracking, at a gateway, a transaction count of trade messages communicated to an exchange via an exchange link. The example method includes defining a first transaction limit based on the transaction count, and calculating a second transaction limit as a function of the first transaction limit, wherein the second transaction limit is to correspond to a reserve capacity associated with the exchange link. The example method includes assigning a message priority to each of a plurality of trade messages to communicate to the exchange. The example method includes communicating trade messages of the plurality of trade messages having a first message priority to the exchange when the transaction count is greater than the second transaction limit, and delaying or rejecting trade messages of the plurality of trade messages having a second message priority.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide novel methods for performing services for machines operating in one or more datacenters. For instance, for a group of related guest machines (e.g., a group of tenant machines), some embodiments define two different forwarding planes: (1) a guest forwarding plane and (2) a service forwarding plane. The guest forwarding plane connects to the machines in the group and performs L2 and/or L3 forwarding for these machines. The service forwarding plane (1) connects to the service nodes that perform services on data messages sent to and from these machines, and (2) forwards these data messages to the service nodes. In some embodiments, the guest machines do not connect directly with the service forwarding plane. For instance, in some embodiments, each forwarding plane connects to a machine or service node through a port that receives data messages from, or supplies data messages to, the machine or service node.

The disclosed embodiments provide techniques for delivering network layer (L3) and/or transport layer (L4) data payloads in the order of receipt, rather than according to the data link layer (L2) order. The described techniques enable e.g., earlier packet delivery. Such design topologies can operate within a substantially smaller memory footprint compared to prior art solutions. As a related benefit, applications that are unaffected by data link layer corruptions can receive data immediately (rather than waiting for the re-transmission of an unrelated L4 data flow) and thus the overall network latency can be greatly reduced and user experience can be improved.

Abstract: Horizontal port scanning enables an attacker to gain information about the services running on a host computer system and/or about the users of the computer system so that the subsequent attacks can be targeted to those services and/or those users. A horizontal port scanning detection system enables a network administrator to use a system of cascading ring buffers to maximize network resources to detect attackers. The horizontal port scanning system employs a series of ring buffers, where each ring buffer is associated with a specific port and each cascade of ring buffers is associated with a specific source. As communications requests are received, the destination address is stored in the ring buffer associated with the requested port and a process is run across each ring buffer, such that when a threshold is passed, an alarm is raised.

  • Patent number: 11349761
Abstract: A cost effective congestion isolation for lossless Ethernet utilizing random selection is provided. Upon detecting congestion at one of its egress ports, a downstream device randomly selects a data packet received at one or more of its ingress ports for isolation in a congested priority queue at the ingress port. The downstream device sends a congestion isolation message, including a list of isolation hashes to an upstream device to identify data packets selected for isolation. Upon receipt, the upstream device identifies data packets selected for isolation and begins to queue such packets in a congested priority queue of the upstream device. When priority-based flow control is triggered, the upstream device ceases transmission of packets in the congested priority queue only, while allowing continued transmission of non-isolated data packets.
