  • Patent number: 10581502
Abstract: A method performed by a first radio node for adjusting a set of beams for communication with a second radio node. The first radio node obtains an indication of a first set of beams based on a beam prediction model. The first radio node sends a training symbol on each beam in the first set of beams. The first radio node receives from the second radio node, feedback relating to the sent training symbols. A second beam is identified based on the feedback and is used for transmission. The received feedback and the second beam are used to adapt the beam prediction model. Further, the first radio node decides whether to adjust the number of beams in the first set of beams based on a relationship between the first and second beam. The adjusted first set of beams is to be used for sending training symbols before an upcoming communication.

  • Patent number: 10567954
Abstract: In a 5G network, new radios (NR) can be deployed as a standalone radio access technology or as a non-standalone radio access technology assisted by another radio access technology. Long-term evolution (LTE), which is widely deployed can provide seamless coverage and uninterrupted connectivity, however NRs can provide significantly increased data rates or new services. However, the deployment of NR can be limited to hotspots under the footprint of LTE. Therefore, dual connectivity between LTE and NR can be utilized for non-standalone NR because control plane functions can be sent over LTE while the data plane can be managed on NR, allowing for simplified NR deployments where device support for both LTE and NR is available.

Abstract: An active repeater device includes a primary sector and one or more secondary sectors, receives a first beam of input RF signals. A first set of analog baseband signals, are generated based on received first beam of input RF signals. The first set of analog baseband signals are converted to a first set of coded data signals and control information is extracted from the first set of coded data signals by decoding only a header portion of the first set of coded data signals without demodulation of data portion of the first set of coded data signals. Based on the extracted control information, the first set of coded data signals are transmitted as beams of output RF signals to remote user equipment. The transmission is independent of demodulation of the data portion within the active repeater device to reduce latency for transmission of the first set of coded data signals.

Abstract: Wireless communication systems and methods related to the discovery and selection of relay devices by internet of everything (IoE) devices are disclosed. For example, IoE devices with low pathloss to a base station can broadcast information during discovery frames that allow other IoE devices to discover them and select them as a relay, if appropriate. The discovery broadcast message from an IoE device can include information to allow a listening IoE device to select a suitable IoE device for relaying its data that satisfies latency parameters while minimizing the energy impact of relaying. Signaling structures are also provided to allow different IoE devices to select slots for broadcasting within the discovery frame in a distributed manner without disrupting existing periodic broadcasts. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: A method and system for managing channel state reporting rate for transmission of channel state reports from a wireless communication device (WCD) to its serving base station based. The channel state reports provide metrics regarding a wireless communication channel between the WCD and the base station, and the channel state reporting rate defines how often the WCD will transmit such reports. Per the disclosure, the channel state reporting rate could be set to a higher value (for more frequent channel state reporting) if the WCD provides such connectivity and a lower value (perhaps a default value) if not, and the reporting rate could be set higher as the WCD provides connectivity for a greater number of other devices.
