  • Patent number: 11778010
Abstract: In various embodiments, a hindsight application computes a hindsight metric value for evaluation of a video rate selection algorithm. The hindsight application determines a first encoding option associated with a source chunk of a media title based on a network throughput trace and a buffer trellis. The hindsight application determines that the first encoding option is associated with a buffered duration range. The buffered duration range is also associated with a second encoding option that is stored in the buffer trellis. After determining that the first encoding option is associated with a higher visual quality than the second encoding option, the hindsight application stores the first encoding option instead of the second encoding option in the buffer trellis to generate a modified buffer trellis. Finally, the hindsight application computes a hindsight metric value associated with a sequence of encoded chunks of the media title based on the modified buffer trellis.

  • Patent number: 11653294
Abstract: According to one configuration, a gateway establishes a wireless communication link with a first communication device. The first communication device has access to a remote network via a path including the wireless communication link and a communication link though the gateway. The communication management hardware receives a notification indicating attributes of a wireless interface of the first communication device. The gateway or other suitable entity monitors for presence of wireless communications from the wireless interface advertising availability of a wireless service provided by the first communication device. In response to detecting the availability of or actual use of the wireless service as advertised by a wireless communication transmitted from the first communication device, the gateway controls a bandwidth provided to the first communication device to access the first communication device.

  • Patent number: 11515933
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for providing end-to-end beamforming. For example, end-to-end beamforming systems include end-to-end relays and ground networks to provide communications to user terminals located in user beam coverage areas. The ground segment can include geographically distributed access nodes and a central processing system. Return uplink signals, transmitted from the user terminals, have multipath induced by a plurality of receive/transmit signal paths in the end to end relay and are relayed to the ground network. The ground network, using beamformers, recovers user data streams transmitted by the user terminals from return downlink signals. The ground network, using beamformers generates forward uplink signals from appropriately weighted combinations of user data streams that, after relay by the end-end-end relay, produce forward downlink signals that combine to form user beams.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for synchronizing playback of audiovisual content with a dumb speaker. In some embodiments, a display device transmits a spread spectrum signal to a dumb speaker over a data channel using a spread spectrum code. The display device then receives the spread spectrum signal from the dumb speaker over an audio data channel. The display device despreads the spread spectrum signal based on the spreading code. The display device determines a time of receipt of the spread spectrum signal. Abstract: Wireless communication devices, such as a scheduled entity, are adapted to facilitate uplink transmissions on multiple physical uplink control channels (PUCCHs) of a regular burst period. According to one example, a scheduled entity may obtain a payload for an uplink transmission on a PUCCH. The scheduled entity may subsequently send the uplink transmission utilizing two or more physical uplink control channels (PUCCH) of a regular burst period, where each PUCCH is associated with a different frequency band of the regular burst period. According to one example, a scheduling entity may receive an uplink transmission, where the uplink transmission utilizes a first PUCCH of a regular burst period, and at least a second PUCCH of the regular burst period, each of the first and second PUCCHs being associated with respectively different frequency bands of the regular burst period. Abstract: A data transmission method, an electronic device and a device having a base station function, wherein, a channel sensing sub-frame is arranged in a frame structure used only for downlink transmission frequency division duplexing; within any period, downlink data is sent via a downlink sub-frame in the frame structure when the channel sensing sub-frame senses that the downlink channel is in an idle state, or otherwise downlink data is not sent. Therefore, on the premise that normal operation of the LTE system by means of the supplemental downlink mode in the unlicensed frequency band can be ensured, the LTE system is prevented from generating significant interference with regard to other systems when operating in the unlicensed frequency band.

Abstract: A technique for dynamically adjusting power use of an input/output (I/O) interface of an electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes an input/output (I/O) interface that facilitates electronic communications with a receiving electronic device, at a particular transmission rate that is dynamically changeable by the electronic device. Transmission power and transmission rate adjustment circuitry determines whether a step-down in a transmission power used for signal transmission at the particular transmission rate is desirable. When desirable, the transmission power is dynamically adjusted down one step, such that less power is used by the I/O interface during the electronic communications.
