In embodiments of the present invention, timers of applications that do not need to retain background data in the terminal can be suspended. Because the timers stop to be run temporarily, the timers do not wake up the terminal from a dormant state, and correspondingly, the applications do not need to interact with a server end to update the background data, thereby reducing the number of times of waking up the terminal from a dormant state, saving electricity consumption and data traffic of the terminal.

Abstract: In a wireless communications network, access points and connected mobile devices transmit data via a radio frequency spectrum channel. When a device has packets for transmission it must check the channel is available before it can transmit the data. Furthermore there is a Transmission Opportunity (TXOP) parameter which limits the maximum amount of time that a device can transmit packets before it must relinquish the channel so that other devices are not locked out. Each device in the network is capable of updating its own TXOP parameters in order to respond to changes in the level of interference and contention in the surrounding area. In this way devices can transmit for longer periods of time when contention is low, while responding to increased network contention by shortening the TXOP to ensure fair access for all other devices in the network.

Abstract: The present technology pertains to unilaterally interleaving individual data packets of long bursts of multi-packet messages in various sequence patterns to be sent to one or more receivers over a network. Before determining a pattern, the sending device attempts to reduce the transmission length of the long bursts of the data packets into multiple chunks. Subsequently, the sending device generates a sequence pattern of the individual data packets and consecutively transmits these packets to their respective receivers. The determined sequence pattern may be based upon outbound limits at the sender, inbound limits at the one or more receivers, and various transmission priorities. Moreover, the sender may limit the data flow of any message transmission. The present technology does not require feedback from the network's components or from the network itself to micro flow control the individual data packets.

A conditional allowance of route optimization solves several billing and security issues by allowing the system to impose appropriate charges for the route optimization feature or prevent route optimization where message flow using care-of addressing can be monitored.

  • Patent number: 9391890
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for establishing data communication between a wireless network and a wireless terminal by means of a packet data protocol connection, using internet protocol. When a determination is made that the wireless terminal is active but does not have an internet protocol address, a page is initiated from the wireless network to the wireless terminal over a control channel requesting that the wireless terminal obtain a temporary internet protocol address. A temporary internet protocol address is then assigned to the terminal in response to a request from the terminal initiated in response to the page so that data communication can be established with the terminal based on the temporary address.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a system for processing a measurement event in a multi-carrier system. The method for processing a measurement event in a multi-carrier system comprises: a mobile terminal receives a measurement assignment configured and transmitted by a network side device (S302); the mobile terminal determines a serving cell and a neighbor cell corresponding to the received measurement assignment (S304); the mobile terminal measures the determined serving cell and neighbor cell (S306); and when a measurement result meets a report condition of a measurement event corresponding to the received measurement assignment, the mobile terminal reports the measurement result (S308).

  • Patent number: 9380564
Abstract: To suppress concentration of channel quality information requests and reports in a case of discontinuously transmitting reference signals at specific resources in a time domain, and thereby preventing degradation in throughput. A transmission apparatus transmits an instruction of CSI request distributed for each reception apparatus in a subframe concurrently with or earlier than a reference signal CSI-RS to each of reception apparatuses. Each of the reception apparatuses detects the CSI request from the transmission apparatus and calculates CSI from a channel estimation value of CSI-RS received thereafter. Then, the reception apparatus identifies CSI report subframe of the own apparatus from CSI report interval information of a given time interval notified in advance, the subframe in which the CSI request is detected and transmission timing of CSI-RS, and transmits a feedback signal including CSI report value by using PUSCH at the timing of the CSI report subframe.

  • Patent number: 9357565
Abstract: Simultaneous, multi-user uplink communication is scheduled in a wireless network by transmitting a poll message to a plurality of access terminals in response to receiving a first request to transmit data via uplink. The poll message includes a solicitation for requests to transmit data from each of the plurality of access terminals. The poll message also includes a medium reservation and schedule for transmission of the requests from the access terminals. Based on the requests received from the access terminals, a number of the access terminals are selected for simultaneous transmission of data via uplink. A transmit start message is sent to each of the selected access terminals indicating when and for how long the selected access terminals may transmit data via uplink. After the data is received, a block ACK message is sent to each of the selected access terminals indicating successful simultaneous communication.

  • Patent number: 9350493
Abstract: Technologies are described herein for performing a multi-protocol data transfer. A first protocol that guarantees reliability and in-order delivery of data packets is utilized to transmit control information for a data transfer. Once the control information has been transmitted and received at the destination, a second protocol is utilized to transfer the actual data. The second protocol does not guarantee data reliability or in-order delivery. If any data packets are not delivered to the destination using the second protocol, either the first protocol, the second protocol, or a combination can be utilized to retransmit the missing packets.

  • Patent number: 9351138
Abstract: A wireless cellular or other device to control distribution and presentation of audio, video, or combined audio and video content transmitted from a content server and delivered to at least one contiguous device at substantially the same time. The cellular device sends control signals via various wireless communication protocols based upon user input. The control signals are sent to a content server attached to a TCP/IP network. The wireless cellular device and the content server interact through a request and reply interface, located within the wireless cellular device, based on inputs from the wireless device user. Content available for transmission from the content server is displayed and subsequently selected by the user. Separate audio and video content may be distributed to individually distinct rendering devices contiguous to and selected by the user. During or after the content is transmitted, the user may interact with the content through the wireless cellular device.

Abstract: Multi-user null data packet (MU-NDP) sounding within multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. Within communication systems including multiple wireless communication devices (e.g., one or more APs, STAs, etc.), channel sounding of the selected communication links between the various wireless communication devices is performed. A MU-NDP announcement frame is transmitted to and received by various wireless communication devices indicating which of those wireless communication devices (e.g., one, some, or all) are being sounded. Then, respective NDP sounding frames are transmitted via the communication links corresponding to those wireless communication devices (e.g., one, some, or all) are being sounded, and sounding feedback signals are subsequently sent back to the original transmitting wireless communication device.
