  • Patent number: 8782750
Abstract: A method and a system for monitoring and controlling remote devices are described. The system has a gateway, a web server, and a client device. The gateway is coupled to a security device. The web server has a management application configured to communicate with the gateway. The management application has a service manager module to enable additional services from the gateway and the security device. The client device communicates with the gateway identified by the web server. The gateway aggregates monitoring data from the security device and from other security devices respectively coupled to other gateways correlated with the gateway. The client device receives the aggregated monitoring data, controls the security device coupled to the respective gateway from a web-based user interface at the client device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for arbitrating among traffic from a coherence point to a switch fabric. A multi-level arbiter is used to avoid starvation while providing fairness and high bandwidth on the connection path between the coherence point and the switch fabric. A first level of arbitration selects packets with enough available credits for forwarding from the switch fabric on a downstream channel. The second level of arbitration arbitrates among short packets at a first arbiter and arbitrates among long packets at a second arbiter. The selected short packet and the selected long packet are forwarded to a third level of arbitration. The third level of arbitration alternates between long and short packets and forwards the selected packet to the switch fabric.

Abstract: A cluster compute server includes nodes coupled in a network topology via a fabric that source routes packets based on location identifiers assigned to the nodes, the location identifiers representing the locations in the network topology. Host interfaces at the nodes may be associated with link layer addresses that do not reflect the location identifier associated with the nodes. The nodes therefore implement locally cached link layer address translations that map link layer addresses to corresponding location identifiers in the network topology. In response to originating a packet directed to one of these host interfaces, the node accesses the local translation cache to obtain a link layer address translation for a destination link layer address of the packet. When a node experiences a cache miss, the node queries a management node to obtain the specified link layer address translation from a master translation table maintained by the management node.

Abstract: Application MGIDs defining virtual groups of output destinations are assigned by applications and appended to packets to specify on a per-application basis how packets associated with the application should be handed by a network element. The application MGIDs are mapped to single system MGID number space prior to being passed to the network element switch fabric. When a packet is passed to the switch fabric, the application MGID header is passed along with the system MGID header, so that the packet that is passed to the switch fabric has both the system MGID as well as the application MGID. The switch fabric only looks at the system MGID when forwarding the packet, however. Each egress node maintains a set of tables, one table for each application, in which the node maintains a list of ports per application MGID. The egress node uses the application MGID to key into the application table to determine a list of ports, at that egress node, to receive the packet.

Abstract: A temporary ENUM architecture assigns a temporary ENUM at call time. For an originated communication requiring routing to a party which needs a particular callback format not supported, the TempENUM provides consistency with the specific format required by the receiving party. The TempENUM is assigned for the duration of the call or communication, or for a given amount of time thereafter. The TempENUM service gateway includes a TempENUM database, a module that assigns a suitable TempENUM at the time of call routing, and a module that handles a lookup in the TempENUM database, and maps the assigned TempENUM to a calling party identifier (CgPID). The TempENUM database stores a TempENUM from a coordinator system and relates the actual calling party identifier (CgPID) for use in callback attempts. Either during the initial call or communication, or shortly thereafter, the receiving party uses the TempENUM number to return communication the initial caller.

Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing controller area network (CAN) communications between CAN nodes using Ethernet are provided. An Ethernet switch includes ports, each of which is configured to receive an Ethernet data packet (EDP) from a CAN node. Each EDP includes a CAN message, which includes an identification (ID) of a corresponding CAN node. A first port is configured to receive a first EDP and a second port is configured to receive a second EDP. The Ethernet switch also includes a controller module configured to detect a CAN conflict between the first EDP and the second EDP. The controller module is configured to select, in response to the detection of the CAN conflict, the first EDP or the second EDP based on the ID corresponding to the first EDP and the ID corresponding to the second EDP. The controller module is configured to route the selected EDP to a destination.

Abstract: Processing techniques in a network switch help reduce latency in the delivery of data packets to a recipient. The processing techniques include speculative flow status messaging, for example. The speculative flow status messaging may alert an egress tile or output port of an incoming packet before the incoming packet is fully received. The processing techniques may also include implementing a separate accelerated credit pool which provides controlled push capability for the ingress tile or input port to send packets to the egress tile or output port without waiting for a bandwidth credit from the egress tile or output port.

Abstract: A method and system can insert multiple packets into a fabric cell. The method or system may be implemented as part of a line card on a switch device. The line card may obtain multiple packets with common packing characteristics, such as destination device, destination port, or priority. The line card may then determine if the multiple packets meet insertion criteria, such as whether the multiple packets together can fit into a fabric cell supported by a switching fabric in the switch device. When the insertion criteria is satisfied, the line card may insert data from the multiple packets into a fabric cell prior to switching the fabric cell through the switching fabric.
