Routing Packets Through A Circuit Switching Network Patents (Class 370/355)
  • Patent number: 8495199
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for interfaces to manage service marketplaces accessible via direct network peerings. A system may include a plurality of resource collections and a connectivity coordinator. The coordinator implements a programmatic interface defining connectivity operations. A first client may implement a service using one of the resource collections. The coordinator may use the interface to notify a second client that the service implemented by the first client is accessible via a dedicated direct physical link set up on behalf of the second client. In response to a subscription request for the service, the coordinator performs one or more configuration operations to enable a request for the service from the second client to be routed using the second client's dedicated physical link.

Abstract: Systems and/or methods described herein may include an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) optimization server in communication with network elements within an IMS network. The IMS SIP optimization server may facilitate an end-to-end SIP session between an originating user device and a terminating user device, while sending SIP session information to intermediate network elements in parallel. The IMS SIP optimization server may receive a SIP request from a first network element and send a related SIP request to a last network element. The IMS SIP optimization server may also send customized packet messages to any intermediate network elements, where the intermediate network elements are between the first network element and the last network element in the SIP sequence, and where the customized packet message includes SIP setup commands for each of the intermediate network elements.

  • Patent number: 8374631
Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanism for providing location information regarding mobile terminals, especially regarding WLAN terminals. In order that the known mechanism for locating users of a mobile cellular network could be utilized for locating WLAN terminals, a location service request concerning a WLAN terminal is received and routed by the same network elements that receive and route location service requests concerning users of a mobile cellular network. However, in the case of a WLAN terminal the location service request is diverted to a predetermined network element, where the access point currently serving the WLAN terminal is identified. The location information corresponding to the said access point is then determined, and the location information is returned as the location of the terminal. The location of the serving WLAN access point thus represents the location of the WLAN terminal.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for originating a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) call from a user equipment (UE) device in a network environment including a circuit-switched (CS) network and an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network to a called party are disclosed. In one illustrative example, when the SIP call is originated by the UE device in the CS network domain, a SIP Invite message which includes a SIP Uniform Resource Indicator (URI) or Tel URI of the called party is sent from the UE device to the IMS network (e.g. to an application server (AS) node). At the AS node, a pool of E.164 numbers are maintained as IP multimedia routing numbers (IMRNs) which are utilized for mapping to or otherwise associating with called party URIs. Thus, the AS node dynamically allocates a select E.164 number with respect to the called party's URI received from the UE device, and returns it to the UE device in a SIP Response message, e.g., a SIP 380 (Alternative Service) message. Subsequently, the dynamically-allocated E.

Abstract: The Fibre Channel standard was created by the American National Standard for Information Systems (ANSI) X3T11 task group to define a serial I/O channel for interconnecting a number of heterogeneous peripheral devices to computer systems as well as interconnecting the computer systems themselves through optical fiber and copper media at gigabit speeds (i.e., one billion hits per second). Multiple protocols such as SCSI (Small Computer Serial Interface), IP (Internet Protocol), HIPPI, ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) among others can concurrently utilize the same media when mapped over Fibre Channel. A Fibre Channel Fabric is an entity which transmits Fibre Channel frames between connected Node Ports. The Fibre Channel fabric routes the frames based on the destination address as well as other information embedded in the Fibre Channel frame header. Node Ports are attached to the Fibre Channel Fabric through links.
