  • Patent number: 11570244
Abstract: Techniques are described that enable users to configure the mirroring of network traffic sent to or received by computing resources associated with a virtual network of computing resources at a service provider network. The mirrored network traffic can be used for many different purposes including, for example, network traffic content inspection, forensic and threat analysis, network troubleshooting, data loss prevention, and the like. Users can configure such network traffic mirroring without the need to manually install and manage network capture agents or other such processes on each computing resource for which network traffic mirroring is desired. Users can cause mirrored network traffic to be stored at a storage service in the form of packet capture (or “pcap”) files, which can be used by any number of available out-of-band security and monitoring appliances including other user-specific monitoring tools and/or other services of the service provider network.

  • Patent number: 10601737
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for register Read and Write operations over Auto Negotiation Next Pages. Register Reads and Writes are implemented using sequences of Auto Negotiation (AN) Next Page messages. The embodiments define mechanisms to use AN Next Pages to carry write and read instructions. It defines a bi-directional communication mechanism to allow writes to be confirmed and read data to be returned to the requestor. Sequences of several AN Next Pages are used to assemble full address and data fields, when necessary. Two link partners (endpoints or an endpoint and an intermediate partner) exchange AN Next Pages with address and data information. The method uses a unique device address assigned to each device discovered in the serial chain to enable write and read operations to specific devices.

  • Patent number: 9998273
Abstract: A duplex frequency is supplemented by providing simplex frequencies and distributing a data load among them. A server initially communicates with a communications device using a duplex channel. A scheduler of the server determines when it is no longer optimal to use the single duplex channel, and distributes data among the duplex channel and the simplex channels. Before sending this data through multiple channels, the server first sends a schedule to the communications device to inform which bits of data are coming through which channels at which times. The scheduler compiles this schedule and sends it to the communications device through the duplex channel. A descheduler within the communications device receives the schedule and alerts the communications device to start receiving data on other simplex channels. The descheduler then puts the bits of data in order as they stream in across the duplex and simplex channels.

  • Patent number: 8774105
Abstract: Methods and apparatus related to partitioning traffic segments are described. An access router, having concurrent connections with two access terminals and desiring to transmit traffic signals to the two access terminals in the same traffic segment, partitions a traffic segment. The partition is such that a first portion of the traffic segment is allocated to a first access terminal and a second portion of the traffic segment is allocated to the second access terminal. Control information, e.g., identifying partition portion assignments, data rate and/or coding information, is also communicated in the traffic segment as in-band control signaling. An access terminal, to which some of traffic signals are directed, receives and recovers the in-band control signaling, identifying its allocated partition portion of the traffic segment and identifying data rate and/or coding information used.

  • Patent number: 8705338
Abstract: A method is provided for reducing the peak power level in a combination of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) tones. The method is particularly effective when the information to be communicated is digital data consisting of long patterns of “1”s or “0”s. The digital data of the message is combined with a scrambling vector before the data is modulated. The randomization of data patterns, in turn, leads to a more random combination of OFDM tone amplitude being transmitted. The message is recovered at the receiver by removing the scrambling vector. An OFDM communication system using the above-described method is also provided.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for managing multimedia traffic across a common wireless communication network. Embodiments may include content devices, end point devices, a network node, and a wireless dongle. The network node and the wireless dongle may have application functions transmitting and receiving application data streams including a video application. The video application may include a conversion engine to compress, expand, or convert video data. Further, both the network node and the wireless dongle may transmit downstream video streams and receive upstream video streams. In addition, the network node may have a master controller function and a node management function, and a dongle management function each managing video traffic streams and application data streams. In addition, the dongle management function controls admission of a video traffic stream originating from the wireless dongle to the wireless communication network.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a first system receives N data transmissions from a second system. The first system combines N ACK/NACK responses, corresponding to the N data transmissions received, and encodes the combined N ACK/NACK responses by selecting a position of a communication channel over which the first system sends ACK/NACK transmissions to the second system and setting a value for each bit sent during each ACK/NACK transmission based on the combined N ACK/NACK responses. The first system sends the bits at the selected position of the communication channel. The second system, upon receiving the bits sent at the selected position of the communication channel, decodes the N ACK/NACK responses based on the position at which the bits are sent and the bits.

Abstract: An autonomous network has a plurality of autonomous terminals, equipped with at least one programmable transceiver, and which are embodied to independently identify frequency ranges provided for a communication link and used to reconfigure the programmable transceiver thereof. One or more technical system states of the network, with which a specific operation of the network is described, is defined. One or more sets of rules are defined for the autonomous terminal, one rule comprising authorized operational states and/or configurations of the autonomous terminals. The effects of the actual operation state and/or configurations of the autonomous terminals on the actual system state of the network is monitored. The sets of rules and/or definition of new rules, which comprise actual operational states or configurations of the autonomous terminals, is adapted when the actual system state of the network differs from the defined system state of the network.

  • Patent number: 8598978
Abstract: A radio-frequency (RF) load control system includes both two-way and one-way (e.g., transmit-only) remote control devices, and provides a simple, reliable process for configuring the one-way devices into the system. The one-way device may be programmed to operate at one of a predetermined number of radio frequencies as part of a frequency-selection procedure, during which, the one-way device transmits a test command to a signal repeater of the system. If the test command is transmitted at the same frequency as the repeater, the repeater emits an audible beep to inform the user that the remote control is transmitting at the appropriate frequency. To associate the two-way devices with the system, the signal repeater streams an “enter address mode” command. To allow the one-way device to be associated with the system, the signal repeater pauses the transmission of the enter address mode command to allow the one-way device to transmit an activation request message to the signal repeater.

  • Patent number: 8588201
Abstract: Sub-channelization gain in an OFDMA-based wireless channel is enhanced by utilizing packet fragmentation when implementing a constant bit rate (CBR) real time (RT) packet application. A packet that would normally be transmitted using multiple sub-channels in a single OFDMA frame may be fragmented and delivered through the wireless channel over multiple frames. Because fewer sub-channels are used within each frame, sub-channelization gain is enhanced.
