Abstract: Communication systems and methods for providing premium multiparty communication sessions between a plurality of callers. The plurality of callers may comprise an initiating caller who initiates the premium multiparty communication session but who does not have a status in the communication system which is recognized by an operator of the communication system for allowing the premium multiparty communication session to proceed; and a premium multiparty caller who has a status in the communication system which is recognized by the operator of the communication system such that the operator allows the premium multiparty communication session to proceed, wherein the premium multiparty caller is a different caller to the initiating caller. The premium multiparty caller funding the premium multiparty communication session may be transferred and assigned during communication sessions.

Abstract: Call forwarding profiles corresponding to call forwarding settings based on time, location, and/or presence states of a called party are created. Different call forwarding settings are then activated based on corresponding predefined call forwarding profiles. Users are enabled to pre-configure their call forwarding profiles based on one or more rules.

Abstract: Methods of switching personas associated with an asserted identity by determining a selected persona based on at least one of a sequence of digits entered during initiation of a call are provided. The at least one of the sequence of digits indicates a request for a persona associated with an asserted identity. It is indicated that an original persona associated with the asserted identity should be switched to the selected persona associated with the asserted identity if it is determined that the original persona and the selected persona are different. Related systems and computer program products are provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatus for providing one-telephone dialing number telephony services where only a single telephone dialing number is required for each subscriber, despite each subscriber having multiple telephony devices on which they wish to be contacted. Calls to a one-telephone dialing number telephony service subscriber may be detected at a telephone switch using one or more triggers configured in association with a device-shared telephone dialing number allocated to the subscriber. Upon receipt of a call connection request to a subscriber, control of the call is assumed, for example by redirecting the call to a service platform capable of generating multiple call connection requests. Multiple outgoing call connection requests are transmitted to multiple telephony devices, including a mobile telephone, associated with the device-shared telephone dialing number allocated to a subscriber.

Abstract: A method is provided for directing calls placed to a telephone number associated with a user according to a reservation identifying the user, a workspace, and a start time. The method includes acts of receiving a first message from a telephone device located at the workspace in response to a first input at the telephone device on or after the start time, retrieving the reservation from a reservation database in response to receiving the first message, sending a second message to the telephone device based at least in part on a portion of the reservation identifying the user, receiving a third message sent in response to a second input at the telephone device, the third message including an identifier of the telephone device, retrieving the telephone number associated with the user from a user database, and directing calls placed to the telephone number associated with the user to the telephone device.

Abstract: A communication system is provided that uses loosely-coupled client-server architectures to improve the efficiency of communications. The communication system includes client and facilitator applications. The client application is a component of processor-based mobile communication devices. The facilitator application is hosted on one or more servers or other processor-based devices, and communicates with the client application via one or more couplings. The facilitator application can also be distributed among one or more portable processor-based devices including the communication devices hosting the client application.

Abstract: A method and a system that allows a person to contact one or more companies with which the person has a relationship, such that the person can contact each company using a single telephone number. According to a first embodiment, a method is provided comprising receiving a call from a person (member) requesting to contact a first company; accessing a member profile stored on a database, the member profile comprising information regarding the identity of the person and identities of one or more companies selected by the person; verifying the identity of the person; verifying the request to contact the first company by determining if the first company is one company stored in the member profile; and then transferring the verified request to the first company by way of a dedicated number, so as to rapidly access an agent.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for coordinating call status are provided. When a call directed to both a first communication device and a second communication device was answered at the first communication device, the second communication device is notified that the call was answered, such that the second communication device records a status of the call as answered.

Abstract: A system for adapting a contact center configuration in order to achieve a specific business goal is provided. The system comprises a display for displaying to a user a representation of an actual state of a performance metric of the contact center, an interactive tool for enabling the user to interact with and thereby modify the representation of the performance metric to a desired state, and a computation engine. The computational engine is arranged to determine a measure of the modification of the representation and to identify at least one contact center configuration parameter, which if adjusted, results in an update of the actual state of the performance metric which more closely approaches the desired state represented by the modification.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and systems for intelligent routing. An intelligent routing processing module sets at least one intelligent routing trigger condition and at least one corresponding intelligent routing policy in advance, and an incoming call or message is processed according to intelligent routing contact manners in the intelligent routing policy. The intelligent routing trigger condition includes relevant information of the incoming call or message and the intelligent routing policy may include more than one intelligent routing contact manner. The embodiments of the present invention may provide more intelligent routing contact manners and intelligent routing policies for communication routing technology and may make full use of subscriber presence information.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide optimization of telephone services through telephone calling plan/card analysis. The least expensive rate is found for telephone calls at any given time and/or date, either through static pre-entry of data, or through dynamic querying of rates via a web-based look-up table, and places calls according to an optimized calling plan. Specifically, in a typical embodiment, an outgoing/target telephone number for an intended telephone call is captured, and a corresponding destination geographic region is identified. Based on the geographic region, a calling plan resulting in a lowest price for the telephone call is identified. This is typically accomplished by consulting at least one table (e.g., call information table) that associates (among other things) calling plans and/or calling cards with geographic regions.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a subscriber with an intelligent service provides the subscriber of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) domain with special intelligent services of multiple intelligent platforms or convergent services. In the present invention an IP Multimedia Service Switching Function (IM-SSF) that supports an intelligent control protocol other than a Customized Application for Mobile network Enhanced Logic (CAMEL) Application Part (CAP) protocol is added into the IMS. The IM-SSF triggers the intelligent services through the protocol other than CAP to a Service Control Function (SCF) of corresponding intelligent platform according to obtained subscription information upon receipt of a session establish request related to a served subscriber; the subscription information can be pre-configured in the IM-SSF, or downloaded by the IM-SSF from a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) of the subscriber.

Abstract: A contact center (120) is desirably tested for operating performance by simulating calls in the contact center (120) in an automated manner. Simulation of calls is achieved with the use of virtual agents that mimic the behavior of human agents that ordinarily deal with caller enquiries in a contact center (120). A set of virtual agents, which can mirror their human counterparts, can be generated and assigned activities and behaviors that simulate the behavior of human agents. These virtual agents can thus be enlisted in testing campaigns placed within the contact center (120), and assigned to answer calls as if they were in fact human agents, in accordance with the usual operation of the contact center environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing voice collision in multi-party communications are generally provided. Embodiments herein may include identifying a voice collision between a first speaker and a second speaker in a multi-party call. One or more voice collision rules may be received. One of the first speaker and the second speaker to be determined to be a priority speaker based upon, at least in part, the one or more voice collision rules. Call bandwidth may be allocated to the priority speaker.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for establishing communication between two devices comprises connecting, by a first computer, to an open source Private Branch Exchange (PBX) platform via a port, receiving a phone number sent by a first one of the two devices at the open source PBX platform, invoking an interface module by the open source PBX platform, where the interface module resides on the open source PBX platform, and building a Calling Name request by the interface module related to the received phone number.

Abstract: A system and method for delivering calling area information to a called party device within a telecommunications system are provided. The calling area information is stored in a network and/or a device calling area database and is accessible by their respective call processors. Upon receipt of an incoming call, a called party device can obtain calling area information from either database and can present it to the called party on a device display in the subscriber's preferred language.

Abstract: A system and method of advanced identification information to be created and distributed to users of wireless communication devices, such as mobile phones. Subscribers can define their own personas as collections of information which define the users. Subscribers can then publish their persona(s) to their friends' and associates' mobile phones, and update the others' address books with the subscriber's contact information. Users can specify different personas to be presented to different users.

Abstract: A disclosed application server and method are operable to enable a user to access and modify a remote user profile stored on or otherwise accessible to the application server. The user profile identifies the user's CPE devices and information indicative of priority based call handling rules defined by the user. The profile may also include priority levels assigned by the user to selected telephone numbers. The application server downloads a user's profile information to the CPE devices identified in the profile, which may include multiple CPE devices that operate on different telecommunications networks, for example, VoIP networks, wireless cellular networks, and/or traditional TDM networks. The application server communicates the profile information to the CPE devices defined in the profile. In the case of a TDM phone, the application server uses an intermediary, such as a central office or Service Node, to implement the service on behalf of a TDM telephone.

Abstract: A method and system for providing computer-network related information about a second party. First, the second party receives a telephone number of a first party. The second party's customer premises equipment (CPE) or elements in a telephone network then use the telephone number to index a database, which contains combinations of telephone numbers and computer-network addresses. Once the first party's computer-network address is retrieved, first-party-customized information present at the computer-network location specified by the computer-network address can be sent to and displayed on the second party's CPE. Also, the first party's telephone number can be sent to an application in the computer network, causing the first-party-customized information to be automatically displayed on the second party's CPE.

Abstract: A system and method for connecting people in a social network using information from a user's digital address book. A social network member can unilaterally friend any contact in her address book. Optionally, a member can only friend a contact and be friended by a contact if she is in that contact's address book. An central server keeps track of friended members of the social network and contacts.

According to one aspect, the subject matter described herein includes a method for providing toll-free service in a telecommunications network. The method includes, at a signaling node that includes at least one processor: receiving a first signaling message that includes a toll-free called party number, where the first signaling message is one of a non-TCAP call setup message, a mobility management query, a number portability (NP) query, and an E.164 number (ENUM) query; determining a directory number associated with the toll-free called party number; and sending the first signaling message or a second signaling message, the sent message including at least one of the directory number and routing information associated with the directory number.

Abstract: An approach for establishing a communication session according to a subscriber profile that is automatically updated is disclosed. A locator device, which is associated with a subscriber and includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) transponder, outputs geographic information that is transmitted to a communications network for establishing the communication session. The geographic information corresponds to one of a plurality of addresses specified in the subscriber profile to set a current address. The addresses are associated with a plurality of devices adapted to complete the communication session. The one address is designated as the current address if the geographic information corresponds to the one address, otherwise the current address is set to a default address, wherein the communication session is established based on the current address.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for unifying rosters is provided. A client receives an escalation request associated with a first roster and responds to the escalation request. The client subscribes to the first roster as a participant in response to accepting the escalation request or subscribes to the first roster as an observer in response to denying the escalation request. The client identifies a second roster within the first roster that the client is not subscribed to and subscribes to the first roster as an observer. The client updates an entry associated with the client in the second roster to indicate that the client is subscribed to the first roster as one of a participant or an observer. The client additionally updates an entry associated with the client in the first roster to indicate that the client is subscribed to the second roster as an observer.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for maintaining state information on a client device configured for voice-over-internet protocol (VOIP) communication is described. In one example, a VOIP call between the client device and an endpoint device through a packet network is established. State information is sent from the client device to the endpoint device during the VOIP call. The state object having the state information embedded therein is received from the endpoint device at the client device. The state object is stored in the client device. The state object may be retrieved from the client device during the VOIP call or a subsequent VOIP call in response to an authenticated request from the endpoint device. Alternatively, the state object may be retrieved from the client device during a subsequent web session in response to an authenticated request from a host.

The probability that one or more contact may be selected may be determined based on one or more information types stored in a device and which may be used by a prediction engine module to determine the probability that one or more contacts may be selected by a user. Such information types may include location information of the user and location information associated with contacts in a contact list; distance to a particular location; time, both absolute and relative to times associated with calendar entries, and the like. High probability contacts may be assembled and displayed in a predictive contact list.

Abstract: This invention relates to a communication system using an internet protocol (IP) address. Subscriber terminals have the same subscriber identification and different IP addresses. A server establishes a connection between the terminals via the network. A service system has a table including the subscriber identification information and the IP addresses of the subscriber terminals. When a connection request is made by a subscriber terminal to the group of subscriber terminals while a connection between one subscriber terminals of the group and another subscriber terminal is established, the service system detects an unused IP address associated with the common subscriber identification information of the group of subscriber terminals in the table and notifies the unused IP address to the sever, and the sever makes a call to a subscriber terminal in accordance with the unused IP address.

A user interface is sent to a hosting client for a user to obtain access to and make changes to subscription profile data. A request to retrieve the subscription profile data is received from the client. A request to update the subscription profile data is received. An update for the subscription profile data is forwarded so that the communications service is implemented in the communications network in accordance with the update.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods of determining whether to permit a call to an access terminal are disclosed. A second party is determined to be available for a communication session between a first party and the second party. Location information associated with a call permissions rule set is obtained, where the call permissions rule set includes at least one rule related to whether a communication session between the first and second parties is permissible. Further, at least one rule includes one or more location-based rules. Location information is obtained that is associated with the second party. Then, it is determined whether to permit the communication session based on the obtained location information associated with the call permissions rule set and the obtained location information associated with the second party.

Abstract: The present invention relates to managing connections between one or more data network interfaces and one or more phone interfaces. In one embodiment, a manager process, running on a computer system receives one or more telephone calls from one or more users over one of the phone interfaces and then accesses one or more profiles associated with each of the users. These profiles have one or more service identifiers and one or more interactive response agent (IRA) identifiers associated with the respective user. A menu of the service identifiers is presented to the user. The manager process looks up an agent address of one of the IRAs that is associated with the service identifier selected by the user from the menu and establishes a session with the associated IRA. A two-way communication with the associated IRA occurs during the session.

Abstract: A computerized method is implemented by a communication device for evaluating levels of importance of missed incoming calls. One or more reference parameters in relation to incoming calls received by the communication device are defined, a function for evaluating levels of importance of the missed incoming calls is formed using the one or more reference parameters. When an incoming call is received by the communication device, whether the received incoming call is missed is determined If the received incoming call is missed, the one or more reference parameters in relation to the received incoming call are obtained. A level of importance of the missed incoming call is evaluated by applying the obtained one or more reference parameters to the function.

Abstract: This invention relates to the field of data and voice communication. In particular, the invention relates to a system for making connections between two or more anonymous subscribers in order to initiate communication and exchange. The invention also relates to a method of using such system, preferably by means of internet interface and a communication based exchange. A system for making connections between two or more subscribers, preferably anonymously, is provided that can be used to replace impersonal and detached software generated services currently available on a telephony fixed line network, a cellular network, a VoIP network or a combination of these networks. Abstract: The present invention discloses a ringtone uploading service method and system used in color ring back tone (CRBT) service. The present invention is that when a ringtone system successfully uploads a ringtone to at least one but not all ringtone servers, it records ringtone uploading information, sends a message about the successful uploading of the ringtone to an uploading terminal, and re-uploads the ringtone to the ringtone servers to which the ringtone has not been successfully uploaded. The ringtone uploading solution proposed in the present invention will greatly improve the success rate of ringtone uploading.

Abstract: An architecture and method is provided for call routing using both IMS and non-IMS frameworks. The method includes receiving presence information of a third party from a non-IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network device. The method further includes routing the third party to at least one callee designated device based on configurable preferences provided by the callee and correlated to presence information using an IMS compliant component. The method additionally includes providing a charging record for the routing on an IMS complaint charging platform.

Abstract: A method for obtaining accurate call path information in a mixed-mode environment where interpreted methods and non-interpreted methods can call one another is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes generating an event and recording it in a buffer when an interpreted method calls an interpreted method. The method also generates an event and records it in the buffer when an interpreted method calls a non-interpreted method. The method further generates an event and records it in the buffer when a non-interpreted method calls an interpreted method. The method refrains from generating an event when a non-interpreted method calls a non-interpreted method. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.

Abstract: In a telephone network, an incoming call is once received using an automatic voice response. A ring tone is not played immediately after the incoming. In the automatic response, an authorization sound that is necessary every time connection to the caller is made is generated each time by superimposing a background sound on a random number generated through random number generation processing. The caller is notified of the authorization sound. A ring tone is played in response to only incoming calls that return a valid response value, and not played in response to incoming calls that return an invalid response value.

Abstract: Affinity-based preferential call technique, in one aspect, may improve performance of distributed applications in a hybrid system having heterogeneous platforms. A segment of code in a program being executed on a processor may be intercepted or trapped in runtime. A platform is selected in the hybrid system for executing said segment of code, the platform determined to run the segment of code with best efficiency among a plurality of platforms in the hybrid system. The segment of code is dynamically executed on the selected platform determined to run the segment of code with best efficiency.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for enabling users of mobile devices to purchase Ring Back Tones (“RBTs”). The system enables an offer message, offering for purchase an RBT and including a reply-to telephone number, to be generated and sent to a mobile device. In response to the offer message, a reply message sent from the mobile device to the reply-to telephone number of the offer message is received. A code is extracted from the reply-to telephone number to which the received reply message was sent. A particular RBT associated with the code extracted from the telephone number is identified in a table storing a plurality of codes each associated with a corresponding RBT. A user of the mobile device is determined to desire to purchase the particular RBT associated with the code in the table.

Abstract: A method for answering a communication includes the steps of receiving an incoming communication sent by a sender and intended for a communication device of a recipient and answering the communication with an injected audio, video, text, and/or graphic message. The injected message indicates to the sender, in effect, that the recipient is presently unable to respond to the communication but is or will be made aware of the communication. The method further includes the step of providing a promise fulfillment feature that alerts the recipient to the communication and any promise to follow-up with the sender made in the injected message.

Abstract: A system may include a failed route avoidance device. The failed route avoidance device may receive a notification that a record, of a call that failed to be extended to a contact agent in a customer network, is inserted into a failed call list; determine whether an identifier for the contact agent associated with the call is to be placed in an avoidance list based on a response code that a network element sends, to a call router that received the call, when the a connection from the call at the call router to the contact agent fails to be established; generate an avoidance record when the failed route avoidance device determines that the identifier for the contact agent is to be placed in the avoidance list; and send the avoidance record to a configuration device that inserts the avoidance record into the avoidance list.

Abstract: A disclosed method allows service subscribers to modify service subscriptions online. Operations within the method may include receiving an order for a service package from a subscriber, wherein the service package includes multiple features. In response to the order, the features in the service package may automatically be cross referenced with a list of existing features for the subscriber to detect any overlap between the features in the service package and the existing features. In response to detecting an overlap, a subscription change request may automatically be computed, wherein subscription change request includes only the features in the service package that do not overlap the existing features. The subscription change request may then be submitted for implementation by a service provider, possibly after receiving confirmation of the change request from the subscriber.
