Patent number: 7533149Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, computer program products, and data structures for maintaining multiple versions of electronic bodies in a common database. A computer system maintains an association between an electronic message and a plurality of versions of a corresponding message body in a database that is accessible to a plurality of messaging applications. Versions of the corresponding message body can be stored in different formats that vary in fidelity. A messaging application submits a request to access an electronic message. An operating system receives the request and identifies data formats supported by the messaging application. The operating system provides the messaging application with an appropriate version of the message body from the database based on the supported data formats. The messaging application receives the version of the message body and utilizes the version of the message body to perform a message related operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2004Date of Patent: May 12, 2009Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Bryan T. Patent number: 7457398Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and systems for providing voicemail services having expanded functionality. One embodiment of the invention saves a copy of messages sent in the sender's mailbox. Methods and systems, according to this embodiment, mark a message sent as a ‘sent message’ and store the sent message in a standard message store. These methods and systems can present a full set of sent messages (sent within a configured time interval, 30 days for example) upon a specific request for sent messages. In one embodiment, a user can access these sent messages by accessing the sent message folder. Embodiments of the invention also provide a method for determining the other (if any) recipients of a received voice message. Methods and systems according to one embodiment store a full list of recipients with a message. Patent number: 7251477Abstract: A method for managing voice messages in a mobile telephone, including a voice message store mode and a voice message reproduce mode. In the voice message store mode, the remaining memory capacity is calculated first, and, if there is sufficient memory, the voice message begins to be stored while the length of the currently storing voice message is displayed. At predetermined time intervals, the remaining memory capacity is calculated again and the displayed length is updated. If it is determined that there is insufficient memory capacity, a memory full message is displayed. When the voice message is completely stored, storage-related information is calculated and stored with the voice message. Patent number: 6987841Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for recording a communication over a public network upon the request of a communicating party. The request is received for the recording service from a first communicating party and an identification number, received from the first communicating party, is verified. A number is received for a second communicating party from the first communicating party and a connection for a communication between the first and second communicating parties is established. Finally a recording of the communication is made and, after the completion of the communication is detected, the recording is converted to a standard audio file. The system may provide additional information with the recording, such as a time/date stamp and the telephone numbers associated with the communication, in order to authenticate the call.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2003Date of Patent: January 17, 2006Assignee: AT&T Corp.Inventors: Simon D. Patent number: 6959071Abstract: Disclosed herein are a phone-call apparatus, a phone-call method, a communication control apparatus, a communication control method, and a program. In a phone-integrated terminal, a CPU controls a communication unit to implement a phone conversation with a communication partner through a communication network. An audio signal input to a microphone of an input unit is transmitted to the communication partner by way of the communication unit. On the other hand, an audio signal transmitted from the communication partner is output to earphones or a speaker in an audio reproduction unit. The audio signal output to the earphones or the speaker in the audio reproduction unit is superposed on a musical signal reproduced from a memory card. Thus, the user can listen to not only a voice of the communication partner but also music reproduced as BGM during the phone conversation. As a result, the user can enjoy the phone conversation.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2002Date of Patent: October 25, 2005Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Naoki Fujisawa
