Abstract: A container for a food product including a tamper-evident closure which forms an opening of a container. The closure comprises a sealing layer, adhesively sealed to the top of the container around the opening. The sealing layer is releasable from the container by pulling back on the sealing layer and resealable against the top layer to seal the opening when the sealing layer is moved back against the top. The tamper-evident feature comprises a portion of the top adjacent the opening and covered by the sealing layer, which extends from a position spaced from, and extends towards and terminates at the opening of the container. A portion of the tamper-evident feature falls into the container after the sealing layer has been pulled back for a first time to thereby indicate that the container has been previously opened.

Abstract: A resealable closure for packages is provided which has a package integrity feature. The closure includes a two-ply material having an inner film layer and an outer film layer, forming a top of container. The outer film layer has a sealing panel completely covering a first panel and a second panel of the inner film layer. The sealing panel is permanently attached to the first panel and is releasably affixed a portion of the inner film layer around the perimeter of the first panel to form an opening in the top when the sealing panel with affixed first panel is peeled back from the top. The sealing panel is resealable against the top to seal the opening when the sealing panel is moved back against the top. The package integrity feature comprises the second panel of the inner layer which separates from the sealing panel to indicate that the container has been previously opened.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a reclosable flexible film package with a flexible film having a folded edge, at least two opposing free edges, and at least a front panel and a back panel. The front and back panels define an interior space. The flexible film package also may have a score in the flexible film of the front panel forming a flap that defines an opening when the flap is moved upward, toward the folded edge and a label extending uninterrupted from edge to edge of the at least two opposing free edges, the label being attached on the film by pressure sensitive adhesive, and extending beyond the score on the front panel to reseal the package opening defined by the flap.

Abstract: A seal base, which is thicker than a thick portion and is bondable to an inner surface of a bag body, is continuously connected to one of belt-like bases of a zipper tape via a belt-like cutting portion that is thinner than the thick portion and separates a containing space from an outside. A first linking portion having a first corner (a) is defined by a cutting outer surface of the cutting portion and a seal outer continuous surface of the seal base. A second linking portion having a second corner (b) is defined by a contained cutting surface of the cutting portion and a contained seal continuous surface of the seal base.

Abstract: An easy-open and reclosable package includes a pouch including a discrete laminate including a tape including a base strip coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive, and a panel section, the inner surface of the panel section having an easy-open sealant, the panel section adhered by the PSA to the base strip; the discrete laminate anchored to a first side panel; and a product in the pouch. When the package is opened, the package can be reclosed by adhering the first or second side panel to the pressure sensitive adhesive. Methods for making the package, and a pouch, are also disclosed.

Abstract: A resealable packaging container for housing goods includes a wrapper of a flexible material that encloses the goods within. A perforated panel is cut into the wrapper for movement between open and closed positions. The perforated panel defines a wrapper opening in the wrapper when the perforated panel is in the open position to allow access to the goods disposed within the resealable packaging container. A pressure sensitive coated collar adhesively engages the inner surface of the wrapper underneath the perforated panel to partially surround the wrapper opening. The pressure sensitive coated collar includes an open central portion that is disposed inwardly of the wrapper opening and an exposed region that extends between the wrapper opening and the open central portion. The perforated panel reseals to the exposed region of the pressure sensitive coated collar in the closed position.

Abstract: A bag construction has a sheet of material in the form of a flattened tube having front and back panels defining sides and where the tube has an open end. There is a line of weakness proceeding from the open end of the bag through the front and back panels. The line of weakness is located substantially centrally with respect to the sides of the bag and sized so that when the line of weakness is torn, two opposing lengths of material are formed. The lengths sized to allow the tying of a knot thereby, so as to substantially seal the open end of the bag.

Abstract: A flexible packaging laminate formed by an outer structure joined to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to form a flap that is lifted to open the package. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tab having one end integrally joined to an outer edge of the flap and an opposite end anchored to a portion of the outer structure spaced from the outer edge, the tab being torn through upon initial creation of the opening through the flexible packaging laminate.

Abstract: A fillable, sealable, disposable container for storing, transporting and consuming a liquid, such as an individual beverage serving, has opposed front and back walls joined along their opposed sides. Each wall has an upper portion, defining an opening for filling the container, and a lower portion, connecting the lower portions of the front and back walls, for stabilizing the container for filling. A sealable fluid-tight liquid retaining seal is provided at the opening, for sealing the container when filled. Means are provided for creating a hole in the front wall of the container to extract the liquid.

Abstract: A container, or package, that is separable for resizing the container after the contents are partially consumed. One or more mid-package separable seals are positioned between the top and bottom of a package. The seal in the sealed configuration flexibly provides package integrity with an air-tight seal and connection. In the operated configuration, the seal separates the package into two sections, allowing the package to assume a size that is suitable for the volume of material remaining. In one embodiment, the mid-package separable seal includes a sealing strip that is adhesively attached to the outside of the package and covers a tear line/strip formed in the material of the package. Removal of the sealing strip allows the tear line to separate the package into two sections. In another embodiment, a connecting strip is attached to two sections of the package and the connecting strip has an integral tear line.

The first and second strips are not exposed until the package is initially opened, and are not interlocked with one another until the package is initially opened and then reclosed.

Abstract: The present disclosure concerns flexible reclosable containers with a one way valve which provides a means to vent fluids, particularly air, from the interior of container when the repeatedly reclosable closure member, typically a zipper, is in a closed state. It also concerns a process for creating such a valve using a seal bar with voids to create a channel which passes behind the closure member. The valve which is disclosed involves a channel which comprises a central passageway which connects a port which communicates with the environment to a port which communicates with the interior of the package. Also disclosed is the concept of using this valve with a readily removable hermetic seal such that the port intended to communicate the environment initially communicates with the headspace between the reclosable closure member and the hermetic seal but does communicate with the environment when the hermetic seal is removed.

The flexible film may have a score that defines a package opening. An elongated closure layer (14) may extend over the score and may extend from a first end seal (26) to a second end seal (28) and within the opposing edge portions that form the longitudinal seal (24). The elongated closure layer may have a tack-free gripping portion (40) used to release at least a portion of the elongated closure from the flexible film to form the package opening.

The strips may include a weakened portion such as a narrowing. Integrity of the package is indicated by an intact strip viewable upon opening the resealable closure and conversely, a broken or non-intact strip would indicate that the resealable closure has been previously opened. Package integrity may also be shown by a movable second panel or movable die cut tab portions.

Abstract: A reclosable flexible package having a reclosable closure comprising easy-to-use adhesive securement means in combination with non-reclosable closures provided above and below the reclosable closure. The package provides a re-openable seal for reclosing the bag upon a partial discharge of the contents thereof, such as food contents. The flexible package offers manufacturing ease and cost-savings, and tamper-resistance. The flexible package also may be incorporated into a bag-in-box package configuration. Methods of making and filling the package also are provided.

The package may also include a patterned die cut formed in the heat-sealable inner layer, wherein at least a portion of the patterned die cut is adjacent to the transverse heat-seal region of the gusset so as to allow a portion of the inner layer to delaminate and expose a portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive when the center fold is unfolded and the resealable pour spout is opened.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a gusseted flexible bag In one embodiment, the flexible bag of the present invention is formed from the tube of material having a front side and a rear side. A pair of laterally disposed opposing gusset folds are formed in the tube along its sides. Each of the folds has a longitudinal crease. The bag further has a rear side flap extending from the rear side of the bag across the width of the tube which is folded over onto and hot air sealed to the front side of the tube of material. The gussets each have a slit approximate a first end of the tube thereby forming a front side flap. A front side flap may also be manufactured, if desired, which is then folded over when the rear side flap is folded so that the front side flat rests under the rear side flap. The rear side flap is hot air sealed to the front side of the bag with the front side flap being sealed therebetween.

The bag has a height, a width, and a depth, and defines an internal volume. The bag is sealable and has a seal strength of at least about 1,600 pounds per square inch. The bag is formed from a plastic laminate having a thickness of from about 130 to about 200 microns and a tensile strength of at least about 3,400 pounds per square inch. The article of manufacture also includes at least about 15 pounds of a particulate, flowable composition contained therein. The bag can also have a closure system comprising a non-reusable closure and a reusable closure.

The first closure can further be used to engage the output of the breast pump or other device. A second closure is formed further within the storage bag and defines a storage volume. A second line of perforations is provided above the second closure. Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the use of first and second adhesives for the attachment of zipper flanges to reclosable packages. A first adhesive is typically a reactive, cross-linkable hot melt adhesive while the second adhesive is typically non-cross-linkable hot melt adhesive, typically, but not limited to, either EVA-based or polyamide-based. Alternatively, the second adhesive can be a coextrusion layer including a resin that is typically used as a sealant layer in zipper extrusion, such as metallocene type linear low density polyethylene.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a reclosable package or bag with a slider zipper, and further including a first gusset with a perforated line or similar line of weakness formed between the slider zipper profiles in order to provide tamper evidence and a second gusset formed below one zipper profile in order to allow the filled packaged to stand up for display purposes. The plastic bag comprises one MD seal (35) along one closure corner (46) and is without a fold line in the center of a side panel. An artwork may be present which is continuous in the area of the MD seal. The products may be in a compressed state in the closed plastic bag.

Abstract: A resealable closure for packages is provided which has a package integrity feature. The closure includes a two-ply material having an inner film layer and an outer film layer, forming a top of container. The outer film layer has a sealing panel completely covering a first panel and a second panel of the inner film layer. The sealing panel is permanently attached to the first panel and is releasably affixed a portion of the inner film layer around the perimeter of the first panel to form an opening in the top when the sealing panel with affixed first panel is peeled back from the top. The sealing panel is resealable against the top to seal the opening when the sealing panel is moved back against the top. The package integrity feature comprises the second panel of the inner layer which separates from the sealing panel to indicate that the container has been previously opened.

Abstract: A laminate material for a flexible packaging is provided having first and second layers. The first layer has a weakened line therethrough that defines a first flap. The second layer is adhered to the first layer and has a second weakened line formed offset from the first weakened line in the first layer and defines a removable panel in the second layer. An adhesive layer is located between the first and second layers. The adhesive layer comprises pressure-sensitive adhesive located inwardly of the weakened line in the first layer and a vacancy located laterally inward of the pressure-sensitive adhesive and adjacent the removable panel. The removable panel remains connected to the second layer when the first flap is peeled back. The removable panel is separately removable from the first flap. The first flap is resealable to the second layer by means of the pressure-sensitive adhesive exposed upon opening the first flap.
