Patent number: 5758978Abstract: The inner circumference 4a2 of the bearing ring 4a is square-shaped, and the outer circumference 4a3 thereof is circular. The shoulder 1a1 of the attaching portion 1a of the scroll member 1 is formed to be square-shaped, corresponding to the inner circumference 4a2 of the bearing ring 4a. When attaching the bearing ring 4a to the attaching portion 1a, the square-shaped inner circumference 4a2 of the bearing ring 4a is fitted to the square-shaped shoulder 1a1 of the attaching portion 1a. Thus, by fitting the inner circumference 4a2 of the bearing ring 4a to the shoulder 1a1 of the attaching portion 1a, the bearing ring 4a is prevented from rotating with respect to the swivel scroll member 1.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1997Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: NTN CorporationInventors: Masahiko Satoda, Masatoshi Niina, Yukimitsu Yamamoto

Patent number: 5536091Abstract: The contact angle of each of the balls of a thrust ball bearing for use with power rollers is deviated from 90 degrees. Thus the power roller is not easily displaced in the radial direction when radial loads are exerted. Also, the distance in the radial direction between the acting point of loads applied to the circumferential surface of the power roller and the contacting point of the rolling surface of each ball and the inner ring raceway is decreased. In this way, any bending stresses to be exerted on the power roller by the application of the aforesaid loads are eased. In another embodiment, the thickness dimension of the outer ring is made greater in the portion closer to the inner circumference, and smaller in the portion closer to the outer circumference with the outer ring raceway as boundary. Thus the width dimension of the circumferential surface of the power roller is made larger, and the strength of the outer ring is enhanced against bending stresses.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1995Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Assignee: NSK Ltd.Inventors: Hirotoshi Takata, Takanobu Sato, Ryo Goino

Fracture toughness K.sub.1c of a material forming the power roller is made higher than fracture toughness K.sub.1c ' of a material forming the outer ring (K.sub.1c >K.sub.1c '). Further, the maximum contact surface pressure P.sub.max between an inner ring raceway and the respective balls is made smaller than the maximum contact surface pressure P.sub.max ' between an outer ring raceway and the respective balls (P.sub.max <P.sub.max ').Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1995Date of Patent: January 9, 1996Assignee: NSK Ltd.Inventors: Takanobu Sato, Hirotoshi Takata, Ryo Goino

Patent number: 5116147Abstract: An anti-blockage bearing for use in rotary core drilling of rock or other hard earth. Situated between the upper end of a freely suspended core barrel assembly and the core barrel coupling, the invention consists of spherical bearings retained within an upper and a lower annular housing, one or both of which are provided with a thrust race comprising a plurality of indentations and intervening ridges. During normal drilling, the core barrel is freely suspended within the outer tube of the lower end of the drill string. Patent number: 4699530Abstract: A thrust ball bearing unit has a pair of ringed cylindrical upper and lower casings, each casing being made of synthetic resin, a pair of upper and lower races, and a buffer interposed between the upper casing and the upper race or between the lower race and the lower casing. Alternatively, two buffers are interposed between the upper casing and the upper race and between the lower race and the lower casing respectively. The upper and lower casings have peripheral sealing portions which are in a labyrinth or contact seal relationship with each other.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1986Date of Patent: October 13, 1987Assignee: Oiless Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Eiji Satoh, Mararu Iwakura, Hiroto Kamimura, Yasunori Nishi, Masamitsu Kojima

Patent number: 4555190Abstract: An improved self-centering bearing assembly for clutch release mechanism includes a radial bearing with a rotatable inner and non-rotatable outer race. The outer race is resiliently held for radial self-centering movement by an attachment member which mounts the bearing assembly to a plastic carrier of the clutch release mechanism. The resilient element that allows self-centering is compressed between a radial flange of the attachment and a face of the outer race. When removed from the carrier, the resilient element expands sufficiently to bias the radial flange into a radially extending portion of a declutching finger contacting member rigid to the inner race. This retains the attachment member to the bearing as a separately handled, rattle-free unit.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1985Date of Patent: November 26, 1985Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventor: Frederick E. Patent number: 4523863Abstract: A thrust ball bearing using balls as the rolling members of the bearing comprises first and second races having track grooves having a cross-sectional radius slightly greater than the radius of the balls, a retainer for retaining the balls interposed between the first and second races, and a third race circumscribing the balls and positioning the balls slightly inwardly of the track diameter of the bearing.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1983Date of Patent: June 18, 1985Assignee: Nippon Seiko Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hideo Okoshi
