    Abstract: According to an illustrative example, a chair column comprises a stand tube. A gas spring is inserted in the stand tube with the piston rod thereof directed downwardly toward an abutment wall of the stand tube. The lower end of the piston rod is connected to the abutment wall and is rotatably supported on the abutment wall by a ball bearing. The ball bearing comprises two bearing discs and a plurality of balls therebetween. The bearing discs and the balls are pre-assembled by a cage. The bearing can be pre-assembled before it is combined with the lower end of the piston rod and is mounted thereafter on the lower end of the piston rod. The cage remains within the chair column when the gas spring is inserted subsequently into the stand tube together with the bearing.

    Abstract: An anti-blockage bearing for use in rotary core drilling of rock or other hard earth. Situated between the upper end of a freely suspended core barrel assembly and the core barrel coupling, the invention consists of spherical bearings retained within an upper and a lower annular housing, one or both of which are provided with a thrust race comprising a plurality of indentations and intervening ridges. During normal drilling, the core barrel is freely suspended within the outer tube of the lower end of the drill string. In the event of blockage, the core barrel will automatically be pushed upwards causing the thrust race of the lower housing member to bias the bearings against the thrust race of the upper housing member. As the bearings encounter the ridges and indentations of the thrust races, a jarring vibration action is imparted to the core barrel, dislodging the blockage.

    Abstract: A multi-color printing apparatus for screen printing workpieces in diverse colors. The apparatus has a plurality of printing units, each located at a work station, and spaced about a central support. A number of radially extending support arms cantilevered from a rotatable central support carry the workpieces between printing stations. After being indexed to its approximate final position at a particular work station, the support arms engage a brake pad to absorb rotational energy and to control motion of the support arm during a final, precise alignment step wherein a fork member is advanced toward a roller mounted on the support arm to precisely align and lock the support arm during the screen printing operation. Also disclosed is a collar for rotatably mounting the central support at its bottom end. The collar has two portions, one mounted to the central support and the other mounted to a desired location in the printing apparatus.

    Abstract: An improved self-centering bearing assembly for clutch release mechanism includes a radial bearing with a rotatable inner and non-rotatable outer race. The outer race is resiliently held for radial self-centering movement by an attachment member which mounts the bearing assembly to a plastic carrier of the clutch release mechanism. The resilient element that allows self-centering is compressed between a radial flange of the attachment and a face of the outer race. When removed from the carrier, the resilient element expands sufficiently to bias the radial flange into a radially extending portion of a declutching finger contacting member rigid to the inner race. This retains the attachment member to the bearing as a separately handled, rattle-free unit.
