Abstract: A portable, collapsible toilet made of a blank of foldable material and having a row of four side-by-side panels (10), (14), (16), (18) connected by three fold lines (48), (50), (52) to define front, rear and opposed side panels. A top panel 12 is secured to the rear panel (18) by a fold line (28) and includes an opening (20) that may be closed by an integral lid (22). When assembled in a rectangular configuration, a plastic bag (96) may be nested between the panels (10), (14), (16), (18) and the top panel (12) closed thereon.

Abstract: A containment system is described which is useful for the containment of bodily fluids, such as emesis or urine. The fluid containment system is a flexible polymeric bag, preferably polyethylene, of unitary construction having a closed end and a large, normally open, reinforced, "fish mouth" open end through which fluid is introduced into the bag, the reinforced open end having a press and seal closure mechanism. In one embodiment, a strap secures the bag, which is normally in the open or receiving position, around the neck of a person. In another embodiment, straps secure the bag to a belt or belt loops for the collection of urine. In operation, the bag is affixed to the body with a strap which is attached to the (normally open) end of the bag. If the bag is to be used for the collection of emesis, the strap is hung around the neck and dimensioned to position the bag below the chin. The open end of the bag is normally open to receive fluids.

Abstract: A child's toilet with a disposable liner comprised of a main housing having a circular hole formed through a top wall thereof. The main housing has a rectangular hole formed through a front wall thereof extending into a hollow interior. The device contains a sliding bin having a circular chamber formed within a top wall thereof. The sliding bin is adapted for removable securement through the rectangular hole in the front wall of the main housing within the hollow interior thereof with the circular chamber corresponding with the circular hole formed through the top wall of the main housing. A disposable liner is adapted for removable coupling within the circular chamber of the sliding bin.

Abstract: A portable toilet which can be readily assembled and disassembled, including a base, a bowl detachably connected to the base, and an upper frame detachably connected to the base by two suspension tubes. The portable toilet can be used in a car or in the fields, or wherever it is needed.

Abstract: An incontinence seat for a wheelchair includes a seat insert attached to a wheelchair frame, the seat insert has a hole in the center. A cushion is attached to the seat insert, the cushion has a hole in the center aligned with the seat insert hole. A support bag is attached to the wheelchair frame below the seat insert. A collection bag, configured to fit through the seat insert hole and cushion hole, has a drawstring provided at a mouth of the collection bag, the bottom of the collection bag is nested inside the support bag, the inner surface of the mouth is inverted and wrapped around and under the cushion. A seat cover is affixed to the inner surface of the mouth of the collection bag, the seat cover includes a gutter flap and a seat cover hole aligned with the cushion and seat insert holes, the gutter flap is hinged to the seat cover, a deodorant pack may be affixed to the gutter flap.

Abstract: A bag constructed from synthetic plastic material which is impervious to liquid and other human waste has a pouch bonded to an exterior surface. The pouch has a wall remote from the surface of the bag which is constructed from a material which may be permeated by liquid. Liquid absorbing crystals are disposed between the wall and the surface of the bag. A bed pan may be positioned within the bag and the pouch pushed into the well of the bed pan. Human waste may be deposited onto the surface of the bag and the pouch in conventional manner, and thereafter the bag is turned inside-out as it is removed from the bed pan so that the waste remains within the interior of the inverted bag. The entry to the bag may thereafter be tied closed. The bed pan thus remains free of contact with the waste and need not be cleaned.

Abstract: A portable toilet comprising a toilet bowl and a paper-made surrounding shield. The surrounding shield is made from a rectangular paper board which has three folding lines dividing the paper board into four equal quarters serving as two lateral walls, a door board and a rear wall of the surrounding shield. An upper half of each folding line is cut open to form a fissure. The paper board further has a transverse middle folding line at which an upper half of each quarter can be folded outward. A male and female fastening belt set is disposed at each fissure to support the four walls upright. A male and female fastening belt set is disposed at the door board of the surrounding shield for closing the door board. The toilet bowl is made by means of cutting a hard thick paper board into a square body with four close faces. Reinforcing ribs are disposed on outer faces of the four walls for strengthening the toilet bowl.

Abstract: A disposable container for holding waste liquids for disposal comprises an impermeable tube-like body containing a pad of absorbent material secured in use to the inside thereof. The body has a pair of spaced handle-like loops extending from the rim of the body and a pair of ties extending from the same rim at positions intermediate the loops. The ties are capable of being tied together to effect a first closing action on the bag and the loops being capable of being tied together to effect a second closing action on said bag.

Abstract: A specimen collection device including a sheet of flexible material and two generally parallel slits formed near opposite edges of the sheet. This sheet is preferably rectangular and is of sufficient dimensions such that the slits may receive a conventional toilet seat to suspend a central portion of the device under the seat within a toilet bowl. The central portion is adapted to receive a fecal specimen and the device and specimen may be easily disposed of.

Abstract: A convertible multi-functional seat apparatus includes a base having a generally horizontal seat with an opening formed therein and a pair of generally vertical armrests disposed along and extending above opposite sides of the seat, and a generally upright back attached to the base and disposed along a rear end of the seat. The seat apparatus also includes a seat potty cover supported on the seat for movement between a first position adjacent to seat in which the cover overlies and conceals the opening and a second position remote from the seat in which the cover is displaced from and exposes the opening. The potty assembly is disposed in the opening and supported by an internal rim of the seat forming the opening therein. The potty assembly includes a replaceable plastic bag and an annular retainer ring supporting the bag about a peripheral edge portion thereof in the opening by the internal rim of the seat.

Abstract: A collection, storage and disposal system for human wastes. An externally positionable patient interface directs wastes through a conduit to a storage container. Accumulated wastes are sealed within the storage container to prevent cross-contamination. The patient interface is extendable through an aperture formed within a seat portion of a support structure which can be converted between bed and chair configurations. A mattress has a foam insert which may be selectively inflated to maintain desired supporting pressure for the patient and to provide a resilient support surface should deflation of the mattress occur.

Abstract: An integrally molded unitary stackable commode chair comprises a seat with a central opening, four legs, a back rest, and two armrests that have a greater vertical elevation at the chair front than at the rear. The seat comprises subjacent ribs to provide strength and durability. The seat also has a slightly resilient transition zone that partially borders the central opening and is free from subjacent ribs and gussets.

Abstract: A specimen collection device including a sheet of flexible material and two generally parallel slits formed near opposite edges of the sheet. Abstract: A portable compact toilet for infants and toddlers which can be used as an effective "potty" training tool. The toilet includes an apertured seat with four legs pivotally mounted to the underside and foldable into a collapsed position, and a cover pivotally mounted to the seat and securable into a position covering the seat to form a compact package. The cover includes an internal and external storage section for receiving toilet accessories. The internal storage section is received in the seat aperture when the cover is positioned over the seat.

Abstract: A portable toilet has (1) a seat with an opening; (2) an annular bag arranged beneath the opening for collecting waste, the upper edge of the bag being secured to the seat; and (3) an overall framework for supporting the seat which may be folded together to save space when the toilet is not being used. A supporting edge is provided around the inside of the opening through the seat for holding the annular bag and the bag is suspended from the holder by a relatively rigid collar around the top of the bag. The framework comprises at least two facing components articulated to the seat.

Abstract: A toilet pot is comprised of four rigid or semi-rigid upright walls. The upright walls include two side walls opposing each other and a front wall and a rear wall opposing each other. Each side wall is formed of two panels hingedly connected together for folding inwardly. The upright walls together define a generally rectangular cavity. The front and rear walls are pivotably connected together with the opposing side walls. A seat member is hingedly connected to the upper edge of the rear wall for overlaying the generally rectangular cavity. The seat member is provided with side support walls which are hingedly connected thereto and capable of folding down along side the side walls such as to hold the side walls open when the toilet pot is in use. A removable fluid immersible lining bag is provided for insertion within the generally rectangular cavity defined by the upright walls. A second embodiment is disclosed having a removable seat member and alternative side wall support members.

Abstract: A waterless toilet with a seat for use with a container (15) that accommodates the waste, that can be closed, that has a rim resting against the seat while the toilet is in use, and that can be removed from the seat, closed, and deposited once the toilet has been used. The toilet has snap-in components (17) distributed around its rim and a lid (26) that covers the container after it has been used. The lid has snap-in components (27) that fit tight into the snap-in components on the rim, sealing the container hermetically and allowing someone to lift it out by grasping the lid.

Abstract: The specification discloses a plural purpose seat attachment for a bucket, and a combination bucket with the seat attachment. The attachment has a cap composed of a polymeric rim and a polymeric plug interfitted with the rim. The rim has an underside annular recess to receive the bucket rim, and a central opening defined by an interior wall. The plug has an exterior wall of a size and shape complementary with the rim interior wall. An O-ring seal and retainer is retained in an annular recess in the plug exterior wall, and compressibly interfits with the rim interior wall to seal the opening and to frictionally retain the plug in the rim until the plug is intentionally removed. The bucket bail interfits with notches in the rim to secure the assembly.

Abstract: An articulable training toilet apparatus for use in cooperation with a supporting toilet seat of a conventional toilet, and which can alternatively be used as a stand alone toilet on independent ground and table surfaces. A seat having an outer peripheral edge and an inner peripheral edge which defines a waste passage aperture, is operably attached to one or more leg members. The leg members are positionable between a fully deployed position, which serve to elevate the seat above a surface so as to enable usage of the appratus as a stand alone toilet, and a fully retracted position which enables the apparatus to be used in operable cooperation with a supporting toilet seat of a conventional toilet. Restraining members are attached to the leg members so as to facilitate aligned and secured cooperation with the conventional supporting toilet seat, when the apparatus is used in association therewith.

Abstract: A portable chamber-pot comprises a seat portion (2) without a collection chamber supported on a pair of foldable side legs (14,16). A disposable liner (30) has a pair of handles (46) which can be looped around the legs (14) and has a main portion which can be draped over the seat portion (2) to define a collecting chamber. Following use the handles are knotted together and the liner (30) and contents are removed and disposed of and the legs (4, 16) can then be folded under the seat portion (2) for compact storage.

Abstract: A differentially inflatable toilet comprising flexible plastic sheet structure forming, when inflated, a hollow body having a central well; gusset structure in the hollow inflated body for resisting lateral relative closing of the well when the body is sat upon to become deformed, and; a flexible sheet receptacle that has a first portion received in the well, and a second portion overlying and supported on the body.

Abstract: A foldable, portable personal commode is disclosed according to the teachings of the present invention including a case having an openable top and front. A toilet seat is pivotally mounted to a block secured in the case. A U-shaped support is pivotally mounted to the toilet seat and removably holds the toilet seat in its horizontal position when the free ends of its legs are vertically inserted in sockets secured to the front when it is in its open position. The toilet seat and U-shaped support may be pivoted generally parallel to each other and arranged vertically within the case allowing closing of the front and top of the case. L-shaped arm supports may be removably secured to the vertical sides of the U-shaped support to face either forward or rearward. A removable U-shaped back rest is adjustably inserted in the block of the case. The toilet seat includes affixed hardware which supports a removable collar which slideably receives the opening of a plastic bag retained thereon by a rubber band.

Abstract: A transportable, disassemblable lavatory cabin is provided and includes a plurality of wall segments, optional ceiling and floor segments, and at least one tension strap extending around the exterior of the wall segments to provide a stable, closed construction which can be assembled quickly and without the need for tools. To facilitate the manufacture, transportation, and installation of the cabin, as well as to permit mass production, the wall segments are at least partially manufactured as demoldable, hollow blow moldings with substantially the same outer ground plan. This permits the wall segments to be stacked for easy transportation. Each of the wall segments is manufactured to have a first wall part which is substantially straight on its outside in ground plan and at least one second wall part firmly connected to the first wall part and preferably formed at an angle of 60.degree. thereto.

Abstract: The bedside toilet includes an elongated platform including a posterior section, a back section, and a leg section, which are hinged together so that the platform can be moved from a horizontal position to an operable position in which the back section extends upwardly from the posterior section and the leg section extends downwardly. The posterior section includes a toilet. The posterior section is supported in cantilevered fashion from a supporting structure which is carried by a trolley that rides on an overhead track. The supporting structure is composed of two sections that can be moved relative to each other to vary the distance between the track and the platform. A power mounted mechanism, such as a fluid cylinder, interconnects the posterior section with the back section and the leg section, respectively, and individual operation of the cylinders can permit the back section and leg section to pivot with respect to the posterior section.

Abstract: A waterless toilet for use with containers that accommodate the waste and can be sealed tight. A seat has n depressions, each accommodating one container, whereby n is at least and preferably 4. The seat can be rotated at increments of 360/n.degree. around a vertical axis so that the depressions assume in sequence: (1) a first position at which are disposed a magazine that accommodates a supply of unused containers and a mechanism for distributing the individual containers, (2) second position at which the toilet can be used, (3) a third position at which are disposed a magazine that accommodates a supply of lids for sealing the used containers and a mechanism for distributing the individual lids, and (4) a fourth position at which is disposed a robotic arm for removing each container, once a lid has been placed over the used container, extracting the closed container and forwarding it to a depot.

Abstract: A portable, knockdown toilet includes a top unit and a bottom unit which cooperate with each other to define a carrying case into which a collapsible midunit, a collapsible insert unit, collection bags, and accessories are placed for carrying and storage. A handle is attached to the carrying case. Flexible waste collection bags are included, and a desiccant gel is also included as are bag ties so cleanup is facilitated.

Abstract: A portable, collapsible toilet with a central, main section of box-like construction, which is made of corrugated cardboard, which central section is open both on the top and bottom, and accepts therein a disposable, plastic bag which receives the human waste products. The central section is flanked on either side thereof by a small, box-like supportive end-section upon which one directly sits during use of the commode. Each box-like end-section is also made of corrugated cardboard, is open on the top and bottom, and has an intermediate stiffening member to enhance its structural integrity, in order to support greater weight thereon. The central section is provided with a pair of pivotal cover-members formed integrally with the upper edge surfaces of the central section.

Abstract: A disposable waste bag having a flexible enclosure secured around the perimeter of an opening in a semirigid sheet of material. The semirigid sheet is foldable along a line across the middle to allow the bag to be opened and placed in position on a portable commode or bedpan. After use, the two halves of semirigid sheet material are brought together and secured to seal the bag. A gelling compound is included in the bag to solidify any liquid material deposited in it.

Abstract: A method and device for the sanitary disposal of human waste are disclosed. The method includes completely covering the seat and toilet bowl interior of a toilet with a toilet flushable, human waste disposal means to contain viruses and bacteria in the toilet bowl and prevent a toilet occupant from contacting the toilet seat and bowl interior. The method further includes discharging waste into the disposal means, covering the disposal means and flushing both the disposal means and waste matter with minimum bathroom contamination. The disposal means includes a toilet seat cover means having a central cutout portion and a waste collecting means which depends therefrom. Thus, an imperforate barrier isolates the toilet bowl interior when the device is installed on a toilet prevents a toilet occupant from contacting the toilet seat and bowl interior.

Abstract: An apparatus for collection of fecal matter designed to operate efficiently in a zero gravity environment. The system comprises a waste collection area within a body having a seat opening. Low pressure within the waste collection area directs fecal matter away from the user's buttocks and prevents the escape of undesirable gases. The user actuates a piston covered with an absorbent pad that sweeps through the waste collection area to collect fecal matter, scrub the waste collector area, press the waste against an end of the waste collection area and retracts, leaving the used pad. Multiple pads are provided on the piston to accommodate multiple uses of the system. Also a valve allows air to be drawn through the body, which valve will not be plugged with fecal matter. A sheet feeder feeds fresh sheets of absorbent pad to a face of the piston with each actuation.

Abstract: A portable stacking and nesting toilet comprises a small cup member which will nest inside a larger cup-shaped member, a seat member having a central opening, and a resilient sealing lid. The bottom of each cup has a raised lip which will engage the lip of the other cup and the open top ends of the cups have an annular rim. The seat member has a groove which engages the rim of the larger cup. In the stored position, the smaller cup nests inside the larger one and the bottom of the larger cup fits inside the seat opening. When assembled for use, the smaller cup is inverted with the resilient lid installed on its rim to serve as a non-skid base and the larger cup is installed upright on the inverted smaller one to engage the bottom lips. A watertight bag is placed in the upright larger cup with the open end of the bag folded over its rim. The seat is placed on the rim of the larger cup to secure the top of the bag on the cup rim and the toilet is ready for use.

The lining comprises a flange intended to engage the seat, and bag located into the basin and integral with the flange. Abstract: The invention or inventions involve various sanitary toilet systems, assemblies, subassemblies, embodiments or structures comprising components, the majority of which are relatively light in weight, readily constructed or formed into the shapes and dimensions desired to provide structures which are portable, very durable, economical to manufacture and assemble, and service when required.Each of the toilet assemblies embodies, among other things, what may be termed a housing or base, a support or supporting enclosure disposed in the housing, a receptacle located in the enclosure for receiving body waste, a seat mounted in relation to the housing and provided with a relatively large opening in communication with the receptacle, and a cover having a portion for overlying the seat and a portion for disposition in the opening for substantially closing the same. This unique connecting relationship between the seat and cover to close the opening also appears to constitute an advance in the art.

Abstract: A disposable bedpan liner in accordance with one aspect of the invention includes an elongated liquid impervious flexible sleeve having oppositely disposed open ends. The mouth of the liner is defined at one end of such sleeve and has first handle means associated therewith to allow the mouth to be opened and brought into juxtaposition with the seat portion of a bedpan and to be closed after use by a patient. A second handle means is connected adjacent the other of the sleeve ends so that when the sleeve is folded over on itself and the first and second handle means are brought and held together, a purse-like structure is provided. The thus folded over sleeve forms a pouch for containing waste matter with release of the second handle means allowing the sleeve to unfold and the waste matter to pass outwardly through the above-noted other one of the open ends.

Abstract: A disposable plastic film liner for an animal litter box is improved by having an opening in the liner, at about the center thereof, which communicates with a collapsible pocket adapted to lie flat beneath the liner when in use lining the inside of the litter box. As the liner is lifted out of the box by gripping and raising opposite ends of the plastic, the soiled adsorbent runs into the pocket and can then be easily disposed of.
