Abstract: A pen retention device including a pen, a tether, a retracting reel in operable communication with the tether, and a bracket releasably securing the retracting reel therein is disclosed. The pen retention bracket includes four surfaces that define a rectangular cavity having four sides and a top and bottom opening. A first protrusion and a second protrusion are disposed upon a first surface and extend from the first surface toward a second surface, a distance between the first protrusion and the second protrusion greater than a height of the pen tether retracting reel. The first surface is responsive to an application of force to the pen tether retracting reel to elastically deform and increase a depth between the second surface and at least one of the first protrusion and the second protrusion, thereby releasing the pen tether retracting reel via either of the top opening and the bottom opening.

Abstract: The presently described embodiments take an exemplary form of a pen with an ink formulated from dyes that are compatible with transient document media systems. In one form, an internal ultraviolet source that illuminates the ink that is to be written is provided to the pen. This transforms the ink into a dark state. Once written, the lines can be seen like a conventional ink. When heat used to erase the underlining sheet is applied, the annotations made by the subject device will be erased as well.

Abstract: A handy tool pen is mainly constituted, for example, to write a brief summary and to implement a repair of hardware equipment. A hollow shaft 20 has a working end at a proximal end, where a hole axially formed through a center. A handwriting instrument of the refills is thereby stretched out from the working end, or retracted in the working end. When the handwriting instrument stretched out from the hole can write well, while the handwriting instrument retracted in the working end, which can implement a repair for hardware equipment. As well known, a spring fit around a circular cylindrical surface of the refills can urge the refills descend downward to stretch out the handwriting instrument to write, and also can urge the refills elevate upward to retract in the working end, which use for repairing office equipment or even hardware.

Abstract: A pen-like device is provided which has an inkjet printer contained in a tubular body. The inkjet printer has a nib configured to retract into the tubular body when pressed upon print media, an ink supply having a tube defining a plurality of internal chambers containing respective ink, and a printhead in fluid communication with the ink supply. The printhead has ink ejection nozzles configured to print ink upon the print media responsive to the retraction of the nib.

Abstract: A fingertip mountable writing instrument comprising a housing having an exterior wall and interior wall with a cavity therebetween forming an ink reservoir in fluid communication through an ink egress port with a ball point tip. The housing further has an elastomeric element positioned along the top rim for gripping a user's finger once inserted. Frictional elements on the exterior housing wall aid the user in turning pages without having to remove the fingertip pen.

Abstract: A pen retention device for releasably securing a pen to a tether is disclosed. The device includes a pen having an end, a collar defining an internal cavity surrounding the end and an orifice having a diameter, an elastic retainer disposed within the internal cavity, and an anvil securedly attached to the tether. An outer surface of the elastic retainer defines an internal dimension and an external dimension of the elastic retainer, the external dimension greater than the diameter of the orifice such that the internal cavity retains the elastic retainer. The anvil includes an angled retention surface having an external diameter greater than the internal dimension of the elastic retainer and less than the diameter of the orifice.

Abstract: A pen comprising wood originating from cutting a tree transversely so it displays a tree's cross section. As a result of the transverse cutting, the product displays a tree's annual growth rings along one axis of the object. Tree-ring analysis is carried out in order to accurately date and subsequently mark the date on one or more of the annual growth rings on the pen. In addition to its operation as a writing instrument, the pen is operated as memorabilia that serves as a “natural” annual chart for important dates of an individual, company, organization, or other entity; a physical object to communicate the natural history of a tree's existence and/or the natural history of its surrounding environment; an educational tool to assist in teaching concepts of dendrochronology and related disciplines (dendroclimatology, dendroarchaeology, dendroecology).

Abstract: A pen retention device for releasably securing a pen to a tether is disclosed. The device includes the pen having an end and an annular interior surface defining a bore, a cap comprising an expandable retention interface disposed within the bore proximate the end, and an anvil securedly attached to the tether. The expandable retention interface includes a radially outwardly directed surface in contact with the annular interior surface. The expanding retention interface further includes a radially inwardly directed surface in operable communication with the anvil. The expanding retention interface is responsive to an application of force less than a release force by the tether via the anvil to expand and secure cap to the pen, and is responsive to an application of force greater than the release force to release the cap from the pen.

Abstract: A multi-unit cosmetic applicator comprising: a housing body, a first cosmetic unit housed in the housing body, a second cosmetic unit housed in the housing body, an opening in the housing, wherein each cosmetic unit has a means for being independently movable relative to each other from a stored position to an advanced position and back to its stored position. Abstract: There is provided a friction body which is adapted to rub a thermochromic image or handwriting formed on a paper surface by use of thermochromic ink to thermally discolor the thermochromic image or handwriting by frictional heat resultant from rubbing, a thermal conductivity of a friction portion of the friction body is set to be within 0.05 W/(m·K) to 50 W/(m·K).

Abstract: A writing instrument barrel, comprising a body portion, which is generally tubular, and which has a hollow channel extending therethrough. It includes an inner surface, including a paint-adhering material applied to the inner surface for enabling paint to adhere thereto, and paint applied to the paint-adhering material on at least a portion of the inner surface of the body portion to form a painted inner surface. The hollow channel includes opposed ends and openings at the opposed ends thereof. The paint is able to be applied by a brush with paint on the tip thereof, which is able to be extended through the openings in the body portion.

Abstract: A promotional writing instrument includes an elongated barrel having opposite first and second ends, a writing element located at the first end, and an electronic body mass index (BMI) calculator located at the second end that is configured to display a BMI number in response to user entry of weight and height data. The BMI calculator includes a housing having opposite front and rear faces, opposite first and second sides, and a free end portion. A display is viewable through the housing front face. A processor is disposed within the housing that calculates and displays, via the display, a BMI number in response to user entry of weight and height data. A user control is operably connected with the processor and located adjacent the display.

Abstract: A lip pen assembly includes a container and a lip pen is removably inserted into the container. The lip pen has a base and a handle, the base is mounted to a neck extending from an end of the container and two light bulbs are connected to the base. A seal ring has a plurality of protrusions which extend through an end of the handle. The two light bulbs include two first poles and two second poles. A cover is removably connected to the base and has a biasing member which pushes a battery and the battery pushes the protrusions to be inserted into the base when the lip pen together with the base is removed from the container, so that the battery is in contact with the first terminals to light up the light bulbs.

The proximal portion includes a hand-engaging surface and a proximal end coupled to the colorant dispensing tip. The distal portion is unitarily formed with the proximal portion and includes a distal end. The distal end is joined to the proximal portion to form a display card receiving closed hoop. A display card is sized and configured for being received by the hoop.

Abstract: A writing implement includes a hollow tubular barrel having a side wall in which at least one set of two opposite window openings is defined, an optic member received in the barrel and forming a lens portion corresponding to each set of window openings, a sleeve fit over the barrel and having a side wall forming openings corresponding to the window openings of the barrel; and a head portion mounted to an end of the barrel and receiving therein a writing stem that is retractably extendable out of the head portion. According to an example, the container has a longitudinal axis intersecting the dispensing aperture, a cap to be mounted on the container between closed and open positions, a sensory stimulation member or device fixed in relation to the container or the cap housing it. A power supply switch is inaccessible in the closed position, and capable of making the sensory stimulation member change state. A switch actuator selectively connects the power supply to the sensory stimulation member during movement of the cap from the closed position to the open position.

Abstract: A pen with a paper roll is disclosed. A volute spring surrounded by the paper roll is fastened on a reel. A volute spring pushes the paper roll for keeping the outer surface of the paper roll to touch a barrel which contains the paper roll. The surface of barrel has the prominent lines for decreasing the friction between the outer surface of the paper roll and the inner surface of the barrel. The barrel is configured in an outer casing of a pen, and the barrel and the outer casing have a first opening and a second opening separately. The first opening and the second opening is correspondent to each other. One side of the second opening is an inward bevel edge which extends into the first opening and interferes with the outer tier of the paper roll. The outer end of the paper roll can be pushed out of the first opening and the second opening against the inward bevel edge.

Abstract: An intelligent cleaning mop is disclosed, which includes a support shaft, a flat mophead connected to the support shaft, a cleaning pad detachably secured to the mophead, a reservoir, a sprayer for spraying cleaning fluid from the reservoir, a power supply device, a sensor for counting the number of times that the mophead oscillates, and a controller which enables deactivation of the sprayer when a predetermined criterion is meet. The intelligent cleaning mop further includes a port for downloading data and a key adaptor for local activation of the mop. The cleaning pad includes one or more microchips for providing ID and recording usage cycles. Further disclosed is an advanced data controlled cleaning system including a plurality of the intelligent mops and information-technology (IT) system. The IT system includes monitoring stations and/or central station, which communicates with the controllers and monitors usage of the intelligent mops and cleaning activities.

Abstract: A promotional writing instrument includes an elongated barrel having opposite first and second ends, a writing element located at the first end, and an electronic body mass index (BMI) calculator located at the second end that is configured to display a BMI number in response to user entry of weight and height data. Abstract: A pen-like tool for presentations includes a main body and a Bluetooth transmission module. The Bluetooth transmission module is disposed in the main body. A metal clip is disposed on the main body and used as an antenna for the Bluetooth transmission module. The pen-like tool for presentations is able to improve the problem of carrying a lot of devices and the usability during presentations.

Abstract: An electronic ink pen structure with an immediate charging function includes a casing, a refill, a light-emitting element, a double-layered capacitor, two conductive pieces, and a repositioning module. The refill is movably disposed in the casing, and has a pen nib on a front side that is exposed outside a front side of the casing. The light-emitting element is disposed in the casing, next to one side of the refill. The double-layered capacitor electrically connects with the light-emitting element. One side of each conductive piece is exposed outside the casing and the other side is disposed in the casing for electrically connecting with a positive side and a negative side of the electrode of the double-layered capacitor. The repositioning module is disposed between the light-emitting element and the double-layered capacitor, and the repositioning module has a magnetic repulsor for making the refill stay in its original position.

Abstract: An improvement to a writing instrument with stylus, a pocket clip and an integrated letter-opening blade. The improvement consists of locating the letter-opening blade in the pocket clip of the pen. The blade is prevented from cutting the pocket of the user due to a blade protector that is mechanically linked to the mechanism that extends and retracts with the marking or writing tip. In an alternate embodiment, the blade is located on the opposite side of the pocket clip. The extending and retracting mechanism can be a variety of types including twists press, sliding. The stylus provides input to a PDA, touch screen or other tactile input device. Another embodiment includes a letter opener with a stylus.

A portion of the barrel between the first and second chambers is substantially non-transparent and blocks from view adjacent respective portions of the first and second chambers. When the first object moves downwardly through the fluid in the first chamber, the first object disappears behind the barrel non-transparent portion substantially at the same time as the second object appears from behind the barrel non-transparent portion as the second object moves downwardly through the fluid in the second chamber.

The memory is mounted in the cavity and stores data. The I/O interface is connected electronically to the memory and protrudes from the distal end of the connector. A user can bring the writing instrument to write or store date in the memory. Therefore, storing date and writing is combined in a small volume in the writing instrument.

Abstract: A pen that includes a marking device for marking a visible path onto a first surface. The marking device is electronically controllable to change a value of an attribute of the path such as color, line width, texture, or line spacing. A position sensing device or motion sensing device is connected to the marking device using a controller. An optical sensing device is also connected to the controller for sensing an attribute of a second surface. The controller is operable to change the value of the attribute of the path on the first surface so as to replicate the attribute of the second surface.

Abstract: An apparatus comprised of: a generally tubular and closed writing utensil sheath formed by a first thin sidewall and adapted to receive a writing utensil; a generally tubular and closed lighting device sheath, formed by a second sidewall, positioned adjacent to the writing utensil sheath, and adapted to receive a lighting device; and a connecting portion connecting the writing utensil sheath to the lighting device sheath such that the lighting device illuminates a writing surface when the writing utensil is in use. The sheaths can further include teeth to keep the writing utensil and lighting device in place. The sheaths can be parallel to one another or somewhat non-parallel to more specifically direct the light at the writing surface when in use. In one embodiment, both of the sidewalls of the sheaths are less than or equal to approximately one eighth of an inch thick. In one embodiment, the connecting portion includes two flat surfaces that are substantially parallel to one another.

Abstract: An expandable and contractible stylus for interfacing with a touchscreen of an electronic device. The expandable and contractible feature allows for a stylus that contracts to fit into a stylus holder in a small handheld device and expands to facilitate its removal from a device and to fit more comfortably in a user's hand. It holds either its expanded or contracted position for any orientation in space. An expandable and contractible stylus may facilitate the user's experience and thus provide an advantage over other conventional styluses.

A toothpaste holder and toothbrush are formed in combination in a single unitary structure. The toothbrush heads a replaceable and an internal channel provides fluid communication between a toothbrush head and a volume of toothpaste in a handle region. The volume of toothpaste may be placed in a cartridge. In order to facilitate dosed dispensing, notched regions may be provided to provide friction or an audible sound to inform a user when a dose has been properly dispensed.

The writing instrument comprises a penholder with the blowing function and a refill with a writing function. The penholder is composed of a first tube body with a hollow main body connected to a second tube body with a hollow main body. The first tube body is separated from or locked with the second tube body. The first tube body and the second tube body have air inlets and a plurality of scale holes respectively. Accordingly, the writing instrument does not only have the writing function, but also provides the blowing function for wind instruments. The entertainment of the writing instrument is then improved. The value added is also increased to have the economic efficiency.

Abstract: A ball point pen has a elongate shank 10 that supports a ball point element inside. A handle 11 can pivot and fold over and be held closed against the shank 10. This allows the pen to be maintained in a folded-up configuration and easily carried in a breast pocket or purse. The pen is biassed towards a writing configuration with the shank and handle connected end-to-end.
