Abstract: In one embodiment of a writing instrument with a tape flan dispenser, a writing instrument has a body portion, a writing tip, and a flag dispenser chat can be attached to and detached from the body portion. The flag dispenser holds a supply of tape flags, such as a folded stack of tape flags, which can be removed through an opening in the dispenser. The flag dispenser can be, for example, a cap that covers the writing tip or an attachment that affixes to an end of the body portion. In another embodiment, a writing instrument has a body portion, a writing tip, a flag dispenser integrally incorporated into the body portion, a containing section housed in the flag dispenser, and an opening in the containing section through which tape flags can be issued.

Abstract: An applicator for cosmetic material such as mascara, including an applicator head for transporting and applying the cosmetic material, a handle, a stem bearing the applicator head and received in and guided by the handle so as to be longitudinally reciprocable relative thereto, and actuating mechanism carried by the handle for moving the stem longitudinally back and forth relative to the handle. The actuating mechanism may have a rotary drive, a cam member rotated by the drive, and a cam follower slidingly engaging the cam member and connected to the stem, the cam member and cam follower being mutually shaped to cause the stem to reciprocate longitudinally as the drive rotates the cam member. Alternatively the actuating mechanism may be an inertial drive including a weight connected to the stem and disposed between compressible coil springs, or a solenoid. Abstract: A pen-and-electronic device assembly comprises: a barrel; a writing member; and an electronic device. The electronic device includes: a housing having a battery-mounting part including top and bottom walls and a peripheral wall cooperating with the top and bottom walls to define an enclosed battery compartment, the peripheral wall including a first portion fixed to the top and bottom walls and defining an access opening, and a second portion connected detachably to the first portion for covering the access opening; and a circuit unit in the housing. The second portion is fastened to the bottom wall so as to prevent undesired access to the battery compartment.

Abstract: A digital storage device mounted in a pen shaped housing has a barrel, a reservoir tube assembly and a memory device with a USB plug. The memory device is held in the barrel and the USB plug can be extended from the barrel to insert into a USB socket of a computer to access digital data from the computer. In addition, the memory device uses a flash memory IC for storing data so that the memory device does not use a battery. Therefore, the digital storage device can be used to store data and to perform other functions such as writing.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a writing instrument having a housing with both a writing portion and a correction portion. The writing portion is at least partially contained in the housing and has a writing tip extendable from the housing. The correction portion of the writing instrument is at least partially disposed in the housing. The correction portion has an application that is connectable to the housing and is used to dispense correction material from the correction portion.

Abstract: Provided herein is various embodiments of a combined writing instrument holder and bookmark for use with a book and at least one writing instrument. The combined writing instrument holder and bookmark includes a first loop, a second loop and an elongate member. The first loop is generally sized to snugly receive at least a cover of a book. The second loop is generally sized to snugly receive a writing instrument so that a writing instrument can be secured to a book while the first loop receives at least a cover of a book. The elongate member has an attached end, a free end and a length therebetween, with the length useful as a bookmark while the first loop receives at least a cover of a book. Additional and alternative features are also provided.

Abstract: A highlighter marker is provided with a unique scent. The marker is used to highlight printed or written textual material. During the highlighting event, the unique scent evaporates from the ink. A memory link is thereby established between the unique scent and the highlighting event. Subsequently, when the cap of the highlighter marker is opened, the unique scent of the highlighter ink is detected, triggering recall of the highlighted text. A memory aid is thereby provided, which enhances the remembrance of previously highlighted material.

Abstract: A carabiner-type attachment for writing instruments in which the carabiner-type attachment device is attached to the side of said writing instrument or the cap therefor. The attachment device is preferably in the form of a carabiner in which at least a portion of the carabiner body is integral with a pen or pen cap. In alternative embodiments the attachment device is removable from said writing instrument or the cap of the writing instrument.

Abstract: A pocketable device includes a body preferably made from a single piece of thin material which holds a notepad 48 and writing instrument 46. Slits or cutouts at appropriate locations on the body create a writing instrument receptacle 32 and tabs 56 and 57 for removing the device from a small space such as a credit card slot in a wallet. Gripping tabs 66 on a small writing instrument provide a hard stop for instrument storage, a handle for instrument insertion and removal, and more surface area for a better grasp on the instrument by the user during writing. Abstract: An improvement to a writing instrument with a pocket clip and an integrated letter-opening blade. The improvement consists of locating the letter-opening blade in the pocket clip of the pen. The blade is prevented from cutting the pocket of the user due to a blade protector that is mechanically linked to the mechanism that extends and retracts with the marking or writing tip. In an alternate embodiment, the blade is located on the opposite side of the pocket clip. The extending and retracting mechanism can be a variety of types including twist, press, sliding.

Abstract: A writing instrument having a shaft, a writing tip, a coating-liquid reservoir and a support that operably cooperate with each other. The writing tip located at one end of the shaft and the support located near an opposite distal end. The support preferably includes a plurality of legs that extend outwardly from the shaft in a use configuration so that when the instrument is in a resting position on a horizontal surface, the legs contact the surface and prop the distal end of the writing instrument upward while the writing tip contacts the surface allowing the writing instrument to be more easily grasped by a user and so as to naturally bias the contents of the liquid reservoir toward the writing tip via gravity, thus allowing the writing instrument to be readily useable.

Abstract: A loss prevention device for pens includes a pen having an exterior shell generally free of openings therethrough and a writing device housed within the exterior shell and a loss prevention device mounted within the pen which includes a gravity-actuated position sensing switch having an outer electrically conductive cylinder and an inner electrically conductive cylinder mounted within and extending in generally concentric alignment with the outer cylinder, the contact ends of the outer and inner cylinders being generally adjacent to one another such that an electrically conductive ball bearing housed in a generally frustoconical ball bearing chamber can fall into contact with the contact ends of the outer and inner cylinders thereby completing an electrically conductive circuit and initiating an audio-generating programmable electronic device for generating and outputting an audio signal to a loudspeaker when the pen is oriented in a generally horizontal position.

Abstract: A writing system for producing a writing having time-dependent characteristics includes: a pen including: a reservoir containing a fluid; and a writing tip configured to dispense the fluid to a writing surface, wherein the fluid includes a first chemical; and a writing surface including a second chemical chemically reactive with the first chemical, wherein the chemical reaction between the first and second chemicals has a known time dependence, and wherein an extent of chemical reaction between the first chemical and the second chemical is indicative of a time of dispensing of the fluid to the writing surface.

Abstract: A note pen paper system, which includes a roller assembly having an elongated tube member and a knob member. The elongated tube member has a first and second end, where the knob member is coupled to the first end of the elongated tube member. The knob member has a bore extending therethrough where the bore is aligned with a center of the elongated tube member. A pen member is slideably receivable in the knob member and the elongated tube member with a writing tip extends from the bore of the knob member. The pen member is removable from the roller assembly for use. A capholder member is configured to hold the elongated tube member in place in the roller assembly.

Abstract: A writing implement 1 includes a sensor 11 and control circuitry 13 so that when the writing implement is brought into close proximity with an input screen, the writing tip 3 of the writing implement 1 is prevented from delivering ink to the input screen. This may be achieved in one embodiment by retracting the writing tip within the body of the writing implement, or by extending a stylus tip 20 beyond the writing tip 3. In other embodiments, ink can be prevented from delivered to the input screen by a mechanism which disengages an ink reservoir 5 from the writing tip 3 of the writing implement 1 and/or, in the case of a ball-point pen type writing tip 3, electromagnets 26 can be arranged to prevent rotation of an ink delivery ball 22.

Abstract: A writing implement with ornament having an ornament plate assembled from a body and a cover plate installed on a penholder of a conventional writing implement. A slide piece, a set of gears and an ornament member are installed interior of the ornament plate. When writing with the writing implement and pressing down on the penpoint, the pen refill pushes the slide piece upward, which rotates the set of gears and compresses a spring, thereby effecting vertical displacement of an ornament on the ornament member.

Abstract: A hand-held sound-emitting writing instrument comprising a writing portion and a sound-producing portion for attachment to the writing portion. The writing portion comprising a marking end for marking a surface and a first connector located opposite the marking end, the first connector comprising an identifying termination. The sound-producing portion comprising a second connector releasably connectable to the first connector and a sound-producing unit for playing a sound recording associated with the writing portion. Wherein the connection of the first and second connectors enables the sound-producing unit to communicate with the identifying termination.

The dispensing system comprises a container, a sponge member, and a scraper member. Texture material is arranged within the container. The sponge member defines an applicator surface and a sponge opening. The sponge member is secured to the container such that the container opening and sponge opening are substantially aligned. The scraper member is detachably attached to the container.

Abstract: A pen and stapler combination has a stapler body pivotably mounted to pen casing. A cover is movably attached to the stapler body for preventing the stapling of a pocket when the stapler body is used as a clip to attach the pen to a pocket.

Abstract: A clip comprising a slidable member upon at least one track with two parallel rails. The clip may be attached to a handheld instrument, such as a pen. Indicia, such as an advertising logo, or graphic material may be placed upon the slidable member, possibly with a transparent cover on it.

Abstract: An apparatus and method provide a writing device including a button pressed by a user, wherein the button engages a mechanism used to move a writing tip between stowed and operative positions. A counter receives at least one indication each time the button is pressed by a user. A display on the writing device indicates a count kept by the counter.

Abstract: A writing instrument with an illuminated ink reservoir. The writing instrument includes a light source, a power supply, a power switch, and an ink reservoir defined by a portion of the instrument body that is generally capable of transmitting light. The ink reservoir contains ink, preferably flourescent marking ink that will glow brightly when illuminated by the light source. The writing instrument further comprises a light conducting member that guides the majority of light emitted from the light source into generally the center axis of the ink reservoir. The light conducting member helps to guide and focus the light into the ink within the reservoir. The light source may be an ultraviolet “black light”, that causes the ink to glow brightly and produces a spellbinding visual effect. Advertising material may be imprinted on the instrument for advertising.

The cartridge receiver has a perimeter and the opening at the upper end of the base completely surrounds the perimeter of the cartridge receiver. The hollow space of the base is adapted for containing a shaving preparation, such as a soap cake, a liquid soap, shaving cream or a body wash and may be combined with skin beneficial ingredients and/or scent.

Abstract: A multi-purpose pen includes an upper pen shaft and a lower pen shaft joined by a hollow middle ring in between. The upper pen shaft has a cone-shaped lucent section at a rear end thereof, such that light beams emitted form an illumination module located in the upper pen shaft are passed out to an exterior via the cone-shaped lucent section. The upper pen shaft further has a pen clamp at the rear end thereof. A front edge of a reverse side of the pen clamp is disposed with a protruding object that is penetrated into a corresponding opening at the upper pen shaft, so as to touch-control a light source switch at a circuit board of the illumination module. An insulating strap is located between the circuit board and the protruding object for preventing electricity leakage.

Abstract: A combined writing instrument/sheet material dispenser is comprised of a body that has a tip portion, a sheet material dispenser portion and a grip portion disposed between the tip portion and the sheet material dispenser portion. Formed within the sheet material dispensing portion of the body is a compartment that is sized to receive and hold a stack of sheet material. The stack of sheet material is formed from a plurality of individual sheets that are adhered together with a releasable adhesive layer. A slot is formed in the sheet material dispensing portion of the body to communicate with the compartment and there by allow a top-most sheet in the stack to be exposed for use.

Abstract: An improved illuminated writing instrument comprises a writing element, a lighting element and an attaching element. The writing and lighting elements are secured to each other via the attaching element. The attaching element comprises a combination dual clip and a retainer clip. A dual opening clip attaches the writing instrument and the illuminating instrument such that the two instruments form one illuminated writing instrument. The invention further comprises a magnetic retainer clip to secure the illuminated writing instrument as desired by the user. In operation, the force from the magnetic field of the retainer magnet will draw the arm to the magnet. The force of the magnetic field is an amount that will secure the arm to the magnet thereby creating the mechanism that will provide the securing capabilities of the retainer clip. This clip will have the capability of securing the illuminated writing instrument as desired by the user.

Abstract: A hand held implement and a clip intended for use on a hand held implement with the clip including graphical or imprinted material on a removable piece. The clip further includes a base plate upon which the removable piece is placed in typical construction and use and a transparent cover which is fitted onto the base plate to create a unitized assembly in which the removable piece is sandwiched between the base plate and cover. The removable piece may thereafter be quickly and easily replaced or modified to change, revise or otherwise update the imprinted material viewed through the transparent cover of the clip.

Abstract: A pullable light-emitting pen has a light-emitting body and a refill. The light-emitting body and the refill can act synchronously. Thereby, at night light is illuminated from the light-emitting pen so that the user can write easily. A cover is located at a top of the light-emitting pen. When the cover is pulled, the light-emitting body and the refill will protrude out from the pen tube for writing. When the cover descends, the light-emitting body does not light up again. Thus the light-emitting pen can be placed in a pocket. The light-emitting body and refill embeds into the pen tube. The power supply is hidden so as to have a beautiful outlook. The pulling of the cover can prevent the mistake of incorrectly lighting up so that power is saved. Decorations on the cover can present an attractive outlook.

Abstract: In a combination coating film transfer tool and writing implement, a reversible coating film transfer tool can be fitted to the writing implement in either of two ways: one in which the coating film extending past the transfer head is exposed for use, and the other in which the coating film is protected within a housing formed on the writing implement.

Abstract: A marking pen having a deformable tip, and adapted to apply ink or the like to a surface in a stroke of uniform width. The deformable tip has a pocket or recess in its marking surface, that allows a leading edge of the tip that is applied to a surface to be marked, to remain substantially a straight line during the marking stroke, rather than curling at its edges and producing a stroke of lesser width. A scraping blade is also provided carried by the pen, preferably by a cap for the pen, and can have barbs that securely engage it in a recess of the pen or cap for the pen. The invention is particularly useful in marking numbered zones of lottery cards, and in scraping away opaque layers for instant lottery cards or tickets.

The expandable and contractible feature allows for a stylus that contracts to fit into a stylus holder in a small handheld device and expands to facilitate its removal from a device and to fit more comfortably in a user's hand. It holds either its expanded or contracted position for any orientation in space. An expandable and contractible stylus can facilitate the user's experience and thus provide an advantage over the other conventional styluses.

The body includes a lumen adapted to receive a typical writing insert, such as a ballpoint pen cartridge. A display member includes at least one display surface and an insertion member. The insertion member is adapted for insertion into a cavity on the attachment member. The display member can include promotional marketing indicia such as trademarks, logos, slogans, advertisements, calendars and schedules on the display surface.

Abstract: An advanced data controlled cleaning system that consists of cleaning tools, cleaning mops and information-technology (IT) solutions. The system uses sensors to detect the presence of a cleaning mop in a room. The sensors communicate with an IT system which monitors the rooms in which the cleaning mop is used, the time that the cleaning mop entered the room, and the length of time that the cleaning mop remained in the room. The cleaning mop includes a motion sensor to monitor how often the mop head is swept back and forth across the floor. This motion information is used to ensure that the proper amount of work is performed in each room. The system also ensures that the mophead is itself cleaned at the proper time by counting the number of times the mophead is swept across the floor. The system provides cleaning fluid to the mophead based on usage, and stops application of cleaning fluid when the mophead itself requires service.

A flexible wall section contains displayed information, can be mechanically inflated and deflated, and can form three dimensional images. The device may be attached to any shaft-like object, including a writing instrument that is capable of use for writing. Abstract: A disposable teeth cleaning applicator device. An elongated tubular shaft member has an applicator tip member at one end and a toothpick device at the other end. A liquid dental material is positioned inside the tubular shaft member and, once released, is squeezed or allowed to flow into the applicator tip member and used to clean a person's teeth.

Abstract: A multi-colored self-illuminating writing implement whereby one of a plurality of light sources contained within the housing of the writing implement is made selectable by the user as desired. The self-illuminating writing implement includes a marker mounted within the housing adjacent a marking end of the writing implement. A battery is also disposed within the housing for providing power to the selected light source. A plurality of light sources are mounted to a de-multiplexing switch that allows the user to selectively place one of the plurality of light sources in electrical communication with the battery mounted within the housing.

Abstract: A paper dispenser includes a reel tube having a lateral opening and a cavity, a central shaft disposed inside the cavity, a set of spring for shaft with one end inserted and fixed on the central shaft while the other end is connected with the beginning end of the reel. The spring set for shaft rotates in accordance with the central shaft and can release paper through the lateral opening or furl paper back to the cavity. An annular leafspring set for the paper roll is installed between the reel tube and the spring set for shaft. When paper is released, the stretching force of the spring set for shaft along radial direction pulls the paper roll out. When the paper roll is curled back to the tube, the compressing force of the spring set for shaft along radial direction provides part of the cavity for receiving paper.

Abstract: A writing implement has a first end through which a writing tip extends and a second end to which is attached a page-turning element having a multiplicity of soft, deformable protuberances to enhance its frictional grip with paper sheets. In a first embodiment, the page-turning element is configured as a conformal cap covering the second end of the barrel. If the writing implement includes a writing tip extension and retraction mechanism operated by an actuation button in the second end of the barrel, the page turning-element overlies the button so that the button is actuated through the page-turning element by an external pressure applied thereto. A biasing element between the page-turning element and the second end of the barrel assures that the pressure needed for actuation of the button is greater than that which is normally applied through use of the page-turning element, thereby minimizing the possibility of inadvertent actuation.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a writing instrument that includes a means for calculating the result of specific a non-linear equation, such as the Body Mass Index (BMI) of a person or the energy developed by a falling object. The present invention is a writing instrument which combines a writing instrument with a calculating device in one lightweight and commonly used type of device, thereby freeing the user of the need to refer to complicated charts or other technical materials. The writing implement has a first end which includes the writing tip portion and a second end which includes the tables and operational elements used to calculate a particular formula based on user specified numerical values.
