The axle is actuated by a dial extending above the surface of the fluid filled container whereby the user can rewind the cable by turning the dial.

Abstract: A variable grip structure has a shaft body formed of plural shaft portions that are rotatable relative to one another. An elastic finger-grip member encircles the shaft body and has its forward and rearward ends fixed to different shaft portions so that relative rotation of the shaft portions elastically twists the finger-grip member about the longitudinal axis of the shaft body. This construction makes it possible to adapt the shape of the finger-grip member to the hand size and shape and the preference of the user.

Abstract: A lotion roller includes a handle assembly and a roller assembly. The handle assembly has a handle with a hollow interior forming a reservoir for receipt of lotion. A threaded shaft passes into the handle reservoir and has a plunger mounted thereon. Rotation of the shaft and movement of the plunger dispenses lotion from the reservoir into a fixed, integral inner perforated tube. The roller assembly has an outer perforated tube that is mounted on and for rotation about the inner perforated tube. A foam roller is glued to the outer perforated tube. The handle of the lotion roller may include a window for viewing the contents of the reservoir. The roller assembly may be stored in a one-piece clam-shell cover that folds over on itself and snaps shut. The lotion roller may have finger grips and a lanyard, have raised ribs, tapered for a better grip and covered with a thin silicone or rubber over-mold.

The ergonomic pen includes a first indentation proximate a tip thereof; a second indentation besides the first indentation; and an elongate member between the first and second indentations, the elongate member having a convex top surface, wherein the first indentation is adapted to be urged by the muscle opposing the finger nail of the thumb, the second indentation is adapted to be urged by the muscle opposing the finger nail of the index finger, and the elongate member is adapted to be urged by the muscle opposing the finger nail of the middle finger respectively with the wrist being disposed in a relatively relaxed position in writing. The invention can effect an easy, labor saving writing.

Abstract: An ergonomic device with a “boat-like” three-dimensional geometry adapted to hold an interchangeable stylus so as to reduce the stresses on hand and finger muscles when the device is used. This device greatly reduces strain and fatigue due to prolonged writing or drawing. While the device is intended primarily to aid the writing process, it is an instrument that can be used to facilitate the use of tools for sculpting, carving, surgery, etc. It may also be used by manually handicapped persons for activities such as shaving or knitting.

Abstract: A device for applying a gel-like substance, for instance a contact or ultrasonic gel, includes a gel container having an immersion tube departing from a docking area and extending into the gel-like substance; and an applicator for the gel-like substance mounted in the docking area, the applicator having a reservoir connected to an outlet nozzle as well as a pumping means for the gel-like substance. A tightly sealed connection can be established between the outlet nozzle of the applicator and the immersion tube for transporting the gel-like substances to the reservoir.

A pushbutton connected to a pump allows a user to select a measured amount of liquid while keeping the liquid from spilling, as it may when poured from a bottle. A check valve keeps liquid from running back into the tank and another check valve passes liquid from the pump to the bristle block but prevents anything from running back into the pump. While the bath brush is useful for anyone who is showering, bathing in a tub, or taking a sponge bath, it is especially useful for someone whose balance is compromised enough that he or she needs to hold on to something in the shower.

The device includes a main body with a cleaning pad attached to one side thereof, an internal motorized assembly for rotating the cleaning pad upon depressing a button provided on a side of the main body and a fluid storage region that contains a cleaning fluid. A metered dosing pump is used to dispense a measured amount of fluid from the fluid storage region to cleaning pad upon actuation by the user. Further, the dispensing action and the rotation of the pad may be controlled by the same button or by separate buttons.

To use the present invention, a person first positions the first holder (3) against an index finger proximal phalange (8) so as to cup the index finger proximal phalange (8). Then, the person positions the second holder (4) against a thumb proximal phalange (9) so as to cup the thumb finger proximal phalange (9). The person then pinches a portion of a writing utensil (5) between an index finger distal phalange (11) and a thumb distal phalange (12) and rests a portion of the writing utensil (5) on the spacer (2). The person then places a writing utensil tip (10) on a writing surface (16) and begins writing or drawing.

Abstract: An improved ink tube structure is disclosed. The improved ink tube structure of the present invention comprises a hollow ink tube and a writing tip. A first bent portion is disposed near the writing tip on the hollow ink tube so that a bent angle is formed at the first bent portion and a distance between the curvature center of the first bent portion and the end point of the writing tip is formed. In this way, an ergonomic design may be provided. A second bent portion may be disposed behind the first bent portion on the hollow ink tube. To keep the first bent portion from deforming, a retaining device is disposed at the first bent portion. A groove is provided on the retaining device so as to hold the first bent portion and keep the first bent portion from deforming.

Abstract: A back applicator enables a user to apply lotion to his own back or multiple users to apply lotion in succession in a sanitary manner. The back applicator includes a base plate and first and second straps coupled to opposed sides thereof and extending in opposed directions. At least one of the straps is length adjustable such that the length of the applicator device may be selectively changed. The back applicator also includes an applier that is selectively and removably coupled to the base plate. The applier may be a sponge to which a lotion may be applied or that may be pro-loaded with lotion. The applier may include a clip having resilient members complementary to an opening defined by the base plate such that the applier may be attached to the base plate, used, and then disposed of after lotion has been applied.

Abstract: A writing instrument comprising a smooth elongate case has a recessed switch for extending and retracting the tip of an ink cartridge. This allows the tip to be extended and retracted with one hand, while at the same time preventing the switch from being snagged by the contents or threads inside a pocket. A second embodiment provides two cartridges and a three-way switch, allowing one tip to be extended at one end of the instrument while the other end remains within the case. A third embodiment utilizes a single cartridge with two writing tips, one at either end.

Abstract: An improved hand-held implement is provided with a body having external surfaces that define contours which match and ergonomically engage the surfaces of a user's thumb and fingers when the user grasps the implement, so as to provide a large surface area of contact between the user's hand and the implement. The increased area of contact between the user's hand and the implement, compared to traditional designs, decreases the required level of applied unit area pressure, and also provides for greater control consequently facilitating manipulation of the implement. The exterior of the implement is sufficiently small so that, while in use, the body of the implement does not extend outside or beyond the hand of the user. The cartridge includes a coaxial retention ring device which readily fits into the body of the implement by the resilient engagement of the ring into the coaxial recessed groove in the implement body.

The assembly may further comprise a cushioned grip removably sleeved over gripping member and advertising material may be imprinted on an outer surface of the handheld implement.

Abstract: A personal-care product applicator designed for applying a variety of substances including liquid, solid, lotion, foam, gel, cream, powder, ointment, oil, spray and salves to the physical body, including hard to reach areas. The applicator comprises: A device having an elongated handle portion at the proximal end and a dispensing pocket mounted to the underside of the body portion at the distal end thereof. The dispensing pocket formed of a permeable material, as to enable a substance to flow through, has an inlet opening, the inlet opening has a closure for sealing. The dispensing pocket is designed for receiving, retaining, then dispensing and applying a substance to the physical body. The substance is placed into the dispensing pocket where it is retained, while being maneuvered to the desired area of the physical body. The substance is dispensed directly through, and applied by the dispensing pocket, when smoothed over the skin.

Abstract: A motorized personal skin care implement capable of use with a disposable, single-use, skin care pad is disclosed with a molded hook arrangement for releasably but firmly holding the pad while cleansing or treating the skin but allowing for quick removal and replacement with a fresh cleansing or treatment pad. A method of using the skin care implement and a kit containing at least one pad and the implement is also described.

Abstract: A method for producing surface coatings on articles, such as stick surfaces, coats at least a part of the surface with a coating. The coating has expandable particles. One surface region of the coating is treated so that the particles expand, while another surface region of the coating remains untreated. The corresponding article, such as a stick, has a surface provided at least partly with a coating with said expandable particles. The particles of the coating are expanded in one surface region thereof and unexpanded in another surface region. The former surface region projects beyond the surface of the latter surface region.

Abstract: A deformable sleeve for attachment to various products for use as a grip and/or to provide a stylish appearance. The deformable sleeve features two membranes that define a cavity filled with a formable material. The deformation of the sleeve results in greater comfort for the user where the sleeve is mounted on products that are manually manipulated or are otherwise contacted by the user. In one preferred embodiment, the sleeve can be mounted on a writing instrument for use as a grip. Alternatively, the sleeve c-an be filled with a formable material that will resume its original shape after being deformed.

The back applicator includes a base plate and first and second straps coupled to opposed sides thereof and extending in opposed directions. The back applicator also includes an applier that is selectively and removably coupled to the base plate. Abstract: A pocketable writing instrument includes an elongate body which incorporates a flexible dual tab grip 66. The grip provides the user with additional surface area with which to grip the instrument during writing; this allows the device to be comfortable during use yet small and compact during storage. When used in conjunction with a pocketable note holder, the grip also performs additional functions: it provides an axial stop for the instrument such that it can be repeatedly placed in the same position within the holder (preventing instrument protrusion from the device); and it allows the user to easily insert and remove the instrument from the receptacle, whereas this action might otherwise be awkward with a traditional small elongate object. Abstract: A liquid applicator assembly has a housing with a liquid storage and a dispensing roller fed by a continuos belt in housing, so that liquid may be applied evenly to a surface. This applicator assembly is especially useful for applying lotion to the skin of a person without any lotion or with minimal lotion coming into contact with a person's hands.

Abstract: A grip of a writing material is formed by providing a plurality of flange-like on a surface of a middle shaft portion of a shaft cylinder and in parallel across an axis of the shaft cylinder, the plurality of flange-like projections projecting in a radial direction of the shaft cylinder, and integrally covering the flange-like projections with a cylindrical cover in a closable manner so that spaces are formed inside the cover. When a user grips the grip of the writing material with his or her fingers, the pressure allows the cover to be borne by the adjacent flange-like projections, while moving air inside the spaces to deform the cover. The deformation absorbs the pressure from the fingers. Further, the adjacent flange-like projections limits the deformation of the cover, thus enabling the initial positional relationship of the fingers to be maintained. The user can thus use the writing material for a long time.

Abstract: A ball point pen has a elongate shank 10 that supports a ball point element inside. A handle 11 can pivot and fold over and be held closed against the shank 10. This allows the pen to be maintained in a folded-up configuration and easily carried in a breast pocket or purse. The pen is biassed towards a writing configuration with the shank and handle connected end-to-end.
