Abstract: A telescopic bracket has a retracted state and an extended state. The telescopic bracket comprises a fixed assembly, a moving member, and a spring. The moving member is movably coupled to the fixed assembly to move along an axial direction of the fixed assembly, causing the telescopic bracket to switch between the retracted state and the extended state. The spring is disposed between the fixed assembly and the moving member to provide an elastic restoring force to the moving member, and the cross section of the spring could be a trapezoidal shape, a rectangular shape, a square shape, a parallelogram shape, or an unequal quadrilateral shape. An open-up device using the telescopic bracket is also provided.

Abstract: Rod fixing device with the same force irrespective of whether movement of a rod is up or down. A locking mechanism moves with a first rod inside a second rod and a stopper having a contacting surface portion contacting an inner circumferential surface of the second rod. A holder which rotatably holds the stopper so that the contacting surface portion contacts the inner circumferential surface of the second rod, and a spring imparts the stopper with a forces generating a fixing frictional force between the first rod and the second rod by causing the contacting surface portion to come into contact with the inner circumferential surface of the second rod. Movement of the first rod toward one side causes the contacting surface portion to rotate toward a side separating from the inner circumferential surface of the second rod, and movement of the first rod toward the other side is a movement against the fixing frictional force.

Abstract: A rotary flexure is designed to exhibit very high radial and axial stiffness and to exhibit virtually no movement in its center of rotation. The flexure, which is formed from a single billet of material, includes an outer ring from which three thin flexure blades extend. The flexure blades extend toward the centerpoint of the rotary flexure, where they join to form a centerpiece. Three lobes also join at the centerpiece, one between each pair of flexure blades. The lobes extend toward the outer ring, and are free to rotate about the pivot axis with respect to the outer ring and the flexure blades. During rotation, the pivot axis exhibits virtually no movement.

  • Patent number: 5788394
Abstract: A joint comprising a body member defining an annular groove and a pair of tangential notches intersecting the annular groove at diametrically opposed positions. A socket member is comprised of a preferably semispherically shaped frame having an open side and a pair of diametrically opposed knob or pin member. Each knob or pin member is engagable with one of the tangential notches to snap fit the body member within the semispherically shaped frame and within the annular groove. The body member is secured to a mounting bar and the semispherically shaped frame has an elongated slot and the mounting bar passes through the slot. The arrangement is such that the slot defines one path of rotation of the shaped frame member relative to the body member and the annular groove defines a second path of relative rotation between the body member and the shaped frame.

  • Patent number: 5685661
Abstract: A rotation joint has two joint elements arranged for rotation with respect to each other about an axle, a cam ring arranged coaxial to the axle in a housing and having a curved track with a spatial curvature, a spring guide element arranged on the axle with springs disposed coaxial to the axle around the spring guide element, and bolts mounted radial to the axle and having bearings whose outer circumference lies in force-transmitting relation on the curved track. In order to make a rotation joint with weight compensation which guarantees sure functioning, and at the same time can be produced economically by a simple construction and a compact structure, the housing is essentially formed by the two joint elements. The spring guide element is rigidly connected with a first joint element, and the cam ring is arranged on the spring guide element and capable of axial motion, but the second joint element is locked against a movement in the direction of the axle, and the bolts are fixed in the second joint element.

  • Patent number: 5655741
Abstract: A pivotal apparatus for supporting instruments beneath a patient during certain diagnostic procedures. The apparatus is adapted for pivotal locking engagement in a support member having at least one extensible and retractable mounting pin and includes an elongated shaft, a tray supported by the shaft, a latch mounted on one end of the shaft and a slide release disposed about and axially translatable along the shaft toward the latch. The mounting pin extends in a partial circumferential slot between the latch and the slide release when the apparatus is engaged in the support member whereby the apparatus pivots through a predetermined degree of rotation relative to the support member as the mounting pin travels in the slot. The apparatus is disengaged from the support member by axially translating the slide release toward the latch to urge upon and retract the mounting pin from the slot.

Abstract: By virtue of its modular construction, this external fixator makes it possible to position the pins (21 to 25) in the bone fragments (11 to 13) taking account of anatomical criteria. The pins are at least indirectly integral with universal joints (36 to 38) with balls (46 to 48) permitting the orientation of the pins relative to connecting bars 503 and 504. The external fixator additionally comprises connecting pieces for articulation between the connecting bars (501 to 507), such as the articulation (7), the telescopic connecting piece (8) and orientable connecting pieces (97 to 99). After the onset of osseous consolidation, some of the connecting bars and their connecting pieces can be removed, it being possible for the bars (501,502) to be withdrawn from the vices (65, 66).

  • Patent number: 5267818
Abstract: An arrangement for providing universal movement of a machine tool is provided in which there are parallelogram linkages, one of which has a link which maintains parallelism with a worktable and is movable in any direction in a plane. A machine tool is carried by this link to perform an operation on a workpiece on the worktable. Two linear actuators converge from pivotal mountings on the worktable to the link. Selective extension and retraction of the actuators causes appropriate planar movement of the machine tool. A limit switch arrangement is provided by marking the movement of a portion of the mechanism on a plate as the mechanism is extended to its limits, cutting out the plate along the line marked, and positioning the actuating arm of a limit switch in the opening. Movement to the limits of the mechanism's travel will trip the switch and interrupt power to the actuators.

  • Patent number: 4377359
Abstract: A nut device permitting securement of and to thin panel members. An axially extending, internally threaded shank has two laterally extending flanges interconnected to one end, the flanges being bent downward. Two beam members extend laterally from the shank in a direction which is generally perpendicular to the flanges, the ends of the beam members being bent upwardly toward the flanges. The nut is inserted in a slot in the panel by positioning the beam members parallel to the slot, pushing downwardly on the beam members to flex the flanges so that the beam members may be rotated clockwise beneath the panel. The flanges and beam members cooperate to frictionally clamp the panel and resist lateral and rotational displacement relative to the panel. A specially configured tool is also disclosed.
