Abstract: The present invention is directed to an adapter arm for coupling a fabrication tool or workpiece to the work table of a machine tool, the adapter arm comprising an elongated shaft having first and second ends, the first end being adapted to be removably connected to the work table, and a clamping device attached to the second end for releasably securing the tool or workpiece to the shaft, whereby movement of the work table is translated to the tool or workpiece through the shaft.
Abstract: A cutting tool having spaced elongate teeth. The tool facilitates 1) the removal of cut particles from the surface to be cut thereby enabling efficient cutting particularly of deeper holes; and, 2) the removal of the center cut out portion from the cutting tool. The tool comprises: a pilot drill bit; an anchoring disk fixed to and around a rear central portion of the drill bit; a plurality of peripherally spaced elongate teeth each having a rear end portion held in the anchoring disk, and a front end portion having a cutting edge; a sliding guide disk slidably positioned around the drill bit and in front of the anchoring disk so that the elongate teeth are radially positioned thereby; bias means to bias the sliding guide disk in a forward position; and, retention means to prevent the guide disk from sliding forwardly on the pilot drill bit beyond the cutting edges of the teeth.
Abstract: The fixed-base router has an annular base member supporting a cylindrical base member. A cylindrical motor housing is telescopingly received within the cylindrical base member; the motor housing includes three vertically aligned notches. A vertically disposed rod is rotatably mounted by the cylindrical base member. The rod includes an external threaded area in threading engagement with a threaded bore in a lever. The lever includes a latch for engagement with a selected one of the notches for coarse vertical adjustment. Fine vertical adjustment is obtained by rotating the rod with the latch in engagement with one of the notches.

Abstract: A milling cutter for truing railroad wheels has a milling drive shaft (10) with at least two, preferably three, cutter sections (3, 4, 5). One fixed cutter section (4) is rigidly connected to the shaft (10). At least one, preferably two, cutter sections (3, 5) are axially shiftable along the shaft (10) and receive their torque drive through the fixed cutter section through a releasable coupling such as a claw clutch (9, 30). One axially shiftable section (3, 5) is positioned on each side of the fixed section (4), with a gap (22) therebetween. Preferably, the shiftable sections (3, 5) are interconnected (at 21) so that an axial adjustment of one section is synchronously transmitted to the other section and vice versa.
Abstract: A woodworking center comprising a horizontal frame supporting a work table assembly at a level comfortable for the operator. For most woodworking operations the workpiece is supported by the work table assembly. The work table assembly can be moved horizontally and with precision between the front and rear of the horizontal frame by an acme screw mechanism and can be locked in any desired position. The woodworking center also includes a head in the form of a carriage and a tool slide assembly mounted thereon. The carriage is located above the work table assembly and is shiftable in a horizontal direction from side to side of the horizontal frame. The carriage may be shifted by hand, or with precision by an acme screw assembly. The carriage is lockable in any desired position along its path of travel. The tool slide assembly is capable of mounting a large variety of portable power hand tools.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a flat-bottomed V-groove in wallboard involving a pair of oppositely angled circular saws, wherein saw blades have an obtusely angled outer edge, as by grinding back one corner of each of a plurality of carbide tips on at least one of the two saw blades.
Abstract: A spindle head can rotate on a support about an axis which forms, with the working plane, an angle .alpha. which advantageously equals 35.degree. 15'52"; the angle between axis of the spindle itself and the axis of rotation of the head is the complement of angle .alpha.. The projection of the axis of rotation of the head on the working plane is slanted in relation to the horizontal projection of the main axis of advance, with a slant that is preferably equal to 45.degree..
Abstract: A router is mounted in a resilient support within a housing mounted on the end of a robot arm to permit substantial lateral movement of the router relative to the housing in any radial direction as the router traverses a template; the router being concentrically positioned within the housing in a resilient support positioned midway between the ends of the router.
Abstract: A rotary tool is rotationally coupled to but axially slidable along a shaft that is driven by a motor. This tool is biased axially in one direction by a compression spring on the shaft and in the opposite direction engages via a thrust bearing on a force-transmission member. A spindle threaded in the machine housing engages this force-transmission member via a ball centered on the axis so that when the spindle is screwed relative to the housing it can axially displace this force-transmission member against the force of the spring to position it.

Abstract: The machine of the present invention is an internal milling machine designed to mill the crank pins and crank arm cheeks of heavy crankshafts to precise dimensions. Positively locked clamping systems are employed to rigidly fix the headstock at indexed positions on the machine ways and to rotatively lock the chuck at rotatively indexed positions. Both clamping systems are capable of shifting the headstock and headstock chuck to a final precisely located indexed position as the locking members are moved into their locking relationship.
Abstract: A machining unit with a working spindle supported in a spindle housing and a saddle on which the spindle housing is removably secured and which is guided on a saddle carrier for sliding movement axially of the working spindle to cause the working spindle to be moved by feed motions, and with a drive motor secured to the saddle carrier and a transmission driven by the drive motor, the transmission having a hollow shaft in which the working spindle is guided for axial sliding movement and for rotation by the hollow shaft supported in a holder adjustable and lockable relative to the saddle carrier in two directions perpendicular to the axial direction of the working spindle.

Abstract: A router is mounted on the back of a support plate which can be raised or lowered to a precise adjusted position with respect to a base plate such that a dovetail cutting tool cuts precision dovetail joints in wooden workpieces. Other cutting tools can be employed for rabbeting, mortising, as well as for cutting square and round tenons to produce close fitting wooden joints.
