Abstract: In a roof system, a top coat of lightweight insulating concrete is anchored to an underlying base slurry coat of lightweight concrete and a metal, gypsum, tectum or concrete roof deck by installing anchoring devices at spaced intervals. The anchoring devices may be made of plastic, steel or aluminum and include a threaded shank extending upwardly from a base plate. The anchoring devices are installed by fastening the base plates to the underlying roof deck structure or by setting the base plates in the lightweight base concrete slurry coat so that the threaded shanks of the anchoring devices extend upwardly through holes in EPS board insulation and into the subsequently applied top coat of lightweight insulating concrete. Abstract: The present invention relates to a screw with the distal end forming a cone-shaped portion, and a first and a second thread segment defined on the shank and the cone-shaped tip portion. Moreover, the first thread segment forms a thread peak and the second thread segment forms a plane surface; besides, said plane surface converges toward the thread peak of the first thread segment. Therefore, at the beginning of screwing, said plane surface of the second thread segment drills into the object to enlarge the channel. Since the channel is enlarged, the second thread segment can enter the object with less friction and higher screwing speed. Besides, the cutting debris can be removed from the space between the enlarged channel and the first thread segment to avoid cracking in the object and to maintain a better effect on fastening.

  • Patent number: 6846142
Abstract: Screw made of plastic for screwing into a material of low strength, e.g. rigid foam plastic, having a deep thread compared with the screw shank, the screw shank running out conically into a screw point. The screw has the following features: 1. the depth of thread H and the minor diameter Dk of the thread form a quotient Q1=H/Dk in the order of magnitude of 1 to 3.5, preferably 2; 2. the minor diameter Dk and the thread pitch P form a quotient Q2=Dk/P in the order of magnitude of 0.3 to 0.6, preferably 0.5; 3. the thread is designed as a V-thread having a vertex angle of the thread teeth of less than 30°.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a protective layer on a bolt, in which an aluminum-containing high-temperature lacquer is first of all applied to the bolt and then cured and stoved at a defined stoving temperature. The screw thread is additionally lubricated prior to installation of the bolt. This process reduces oxidation and ultimately reduces seizing of the screw connection.

  • Publication number: 20040120790
Abstract: A new and improved thread rolling die for forming a new and improved threaded fastener, and a new and improved method or technique of manufacturing the new and improved threaded fastener, is disclosed wherein the new and improved threaded fastener comprises a first, primary thread lead, and a pair of second, auxiliary thread leads alternatively interposed between successive threads of the first, primary thread lead. As a result of the provision of the pair of second, auxiliary thread leads being interposed between successive ones of the threads of the first, primary thread lead, not only is additional axial reinforcement provided for the threaded fastener, but more importantly, the lateral or transverse distance through which the material comprising the blank member must be displaced or moved in order to form the successive threads of the first, primary thread lead is substantially reduced.

Abstract: A pole joint screw may be used to connect a first section of a basketball support pole and a second section of a basketball support pole. The pole joint screw may include an elongated body including a first end and a second end, a head disposed on the first end of the elongated body, a threaded portion disposed on the second end of the elongated body, and a gap disposed between the head and the threaded portion. The gap is preferably sized and configured to receive a portion of the first section of the basketball support pole and a portion of the second section of the basketball support pole. The pole joint screw preferably freely rotates when the portion of the first section of the basketball support pole and the portion of the second section of the basketball support pole are located in the gap.

  • Publication number: 20040081535
Abstract: The invention relates to a self-tapping screw, whose threads, in a rear area (facing the head), have a substantially cylindrical external diameter and, in a front area (facing away from the head), extend with an external diameter which decreases towards the end of the screw. Both in the rear area and in the front area, the threads have an asymmetrical cross section with a bisector of the flank angle, measured at the thread tips, which is located obliquly with respect to the axial course of the core and which reverses from the rear area (first cross section) towards the front area (second cross section), the bisector in the front area being inclined towards the screw head. The reversal point of the thread cross section is placed such that the first cross section is substantially present in the rear area, the second cross section substantially in the front area.
