  • Patent number: 10688556
Abstract: Nanocages are formed by etching nancubes. The nanocubes are added to an aqueous system having an amphiphilic lipid dissolved in an organic solvent (e.g. a hydrophobic alcohol) to form reverse micelles. As the water evaporates the micelles shrink as etching of the flat surface of the nanocubes occurs. In this fashion hollow nanocages are produced. In one embodiment, the nanocage is covalently attached to a polymer shell (e.g. a dextran shell).

  • Patent number: 9402904
Abstract: Embodiments provide devices, systems and methods for the transdermal delivery of chelated compounds. One embodiment provides a method for the iontophoretic transdermal delivery of a chelated iron complex for the treatment of anemia. A first patch comprising an active electrode and a chelated iron complex is applied to the skin; a second patch containing an electrode is also applied. An electrical current is then delivered to the skin from the active electrode. The chelated complex is transported across the skin via electromotive force from the current, with the iron being substantially chromogenically unreactive with the skin during transport so that there is little or no tattooing of the skin due to the formation of insoluble oxidative products. The complex is then dissociated by phagocytosis or related process to release the iron where it may be bound by transferrin or ferritin and carried to other sites for storage or metabolic use.

Abstract: A composition comprising various vitamins to make a multi-vitamin. The vitamins identified in multi-vitamin include vitamin B-1, vitamin B-2, niacinamide, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12, pantothenic acid, folic acid, beta carotene, iron, biotin, choline, vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin C. The multi-vitamin soothe pain, depression, weakness and insomnia and works best with variety of food and less dairy products. Lead combined with calcium effects are severe than lead effects only; it elevates blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, weight and cause frequent infections; bigger than normal dose of antibiotics need in infections; and variation in quantities of vitamins are needed to soothe the symptoms.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling heat generation of a magnetic nanomaterial, comprising the steps of: (a) mixing (i) a nanomaterial precursor comprising a metal precursor material and a predetermined amount of a zinc precursor with (ii) a reaction solvent; and (b) preparing a zinc-containing magnetic nanomaterial from the mixture of step (a) comprising a zinc doped metal oxide nanomaterial matrix; and wherein a specific loss power of the zinc-containing magnetic nanomaterial is varied depending an amount of zinc to be doped, whereby the heat generation of the magnetic nanomaterial is controlled. In addition, the present invention relates to a heat-generating nanoparticle and a composition for hyperthermia. The present invention suggests a novel approach to improve a heat generation of a magnetic nanomaterial.

Abstract: A herbomineral composition for the treatment of sickle cell disease is described in the present invention. The herbo mineral composition include some herbal ingredients such as Jaiphal, Sunthi, Jivanti, Haritaki, Guduchi, Shatavari, Dadima, Pippali, along with the therapeutic minerals such as Abrakha Bhasma and Loha Bhasma at suitable concentrations to obtain synergistic anti sickling activity. The composition exhibited up to 60-87% antisickling activity on RBCs in ‘vitro’ at various concentrations. Patients treated with this composition found relief from most of the severe symptoms of sickle cell disease and sickle cell anemia, and had excellent improvement in quality of life.

Abstract: A hemostatic tablet preferably including potassium ferrate and a cation ion exchange resin pressure formed into a tablet for delivery to a bleeding wound. The tablet improves the rate of adhesion to a bleeding wound surface, and allows a significantly greater and more uniform pressure to be exerted by manual compression of the tablet on the wound site, as compared to that of a thin layer of scattered hemostatic powder. After the seal is formed from the interaction of blood or exudates with the immediate contacting surface of the tablet, the bulk of the unused tablet easily delaminates from the seal making clean up facile. If the unused portion of the tablet is not removed from the wound site, a reservoir of hemostatic dressing stops further bleeding and to provide antimicrobial protection and healing. The tablet may be applied to any surface orientation and take any shape and thickness possible.

Abstract: A wipe that includes a bacteriostatic agent that contains cations having an affinity for the negatively charged cell walls of bacteria is provided. The affinity of the bacteriostatic agent for the bacteria allows the wipe to capture bacteria, thereby removing them from a surface and also inhibiting their spread to other surfaces that may contact the wipe. Of particular advantage, the bacteriostatic agent may help protect against the spread or infection of pathogens without the use of chemicals, such as antiseptics or antibiotics. Still further, the wipe of the present invention also contains a solvatochromatic indicator that undergoes a color change in the presence of a broad spectrum of bacteria. Thus, when the wipe captures bacteria, the indicator undergoes a color change that signals to the user that the wipe is functioning properly. The lack of a color change may likewise provide the user with the assurance that the area is generally free of bacteria and clean.
