  • Patent number: 5439690
Abstract: A hazard-free method for controlling insects using a non-toxic composition that kills by dehydration. The invention includes a process for making the composition in the form of crystalline particles which penetrate directly through the exoskeleton of an insect. In operation, the particles work themselves between the insect's protective body plates and then pierce the exoskeleton. Once inside, the particles absorb up to four times their weight of the vital body fluids of the insect. The penetration of the body plates and exoskeleton and/or dehydration ultimately results in death of the insect.

  • Patent number: 5432146
Abstract: The present invention provides a fungicidal fertilizer composition which contains ingredients which are biocompatible for purposes of agricultural applications, and which are harmless to animals and humans. Abstract: Methods are provided for preparing just before administration unit doses of therapeutic solutions which contain redox active unstable and/or diffusable metabolites such as a ketoacid, a sulfhydryl-contining amino acid, or carbon dioxide. The method involves preparing and storing an aqueous solution of stable components which may or may not contain carbon dioxide. A dry powder comprised of unstable components is also prepared and stored separately. These separate component compositions are packaged in, for example, individual chambers of a common scaled container which is so constructed as to permit the opening, by externally applied manual means or the like, of a passageway between such chambers at the time when usage is contemplated. Thus, a fresh solution in desired full dosage form is preparable just befor administration. Improved container structures for practice of this method are also provided.
