    Abstract: The present invention relates to wood that is reinforced with a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite that contains a plurality of substantially parallel continuous fibers impregnated with thermoplastic polymer having the following structural units: where Z is S or O, and Z′ is S, O, N-alkyl or NH The invention is useful in a variety of applications including glue-laminated structures, laminated veneer lumber, reinforced I-beams, parallel strand lumber, reinforced particle board, and ladders. The use of a thermoplastic polyurethane, particularly the high Tg thermoplastic polyurethane as the impregnating resin provides a means of recycling and reusing the reinforced lumber, as well as shaping the composite in ways that would be impossible using conventional fiber-reinforced thermoset composites.

The beaded matrix within the garment can be augmented with layers to form a lining and exterior layers to enhance visibility. The force of a sliding rider is retained over the beaded matrix, away from the road surface. Under abrasive sliding friction, the beads additionally rotate to an extent which tightens the cord matrix and thereby helps constrain the skin surface of the wearer from making contact with the roadway surface.

The applied fibers are chopped fibers of aramid, carbon, glass, or other high strength, high modulus fiber and are applied in lengths of approximately 0.025 to 2.54 centimeters. In another embodiment, discontinuous fibers are used as an additive to a resin matrix for reconstituted fiber products to control dimensional change. In a third embodiment, continuous fibers are used in the glueline in a pretensioned or an untensioned way to improve shear resistance, creep resistance, and strength.

The glass fiber product coated with the treating agent may be further coated with a halogen-containing polymer-based adhesive as a secondary treating agent. Thus, the treating agent exhibits a large bonding force between the reinforcing fiber product and a matrix. Even if the rubber article is repeatedly subjected to a flexing stress, the strength thereof cannot be reduced. A peel-off cannot occurs between the reinforcing fiber product and the rubber matrix.

    Abstract: A wall panel structure for controlling humidity within a building having a panel assembly attachable to an inner wall surface of the building including: a first panel having a surface with a first predetermined porosity to moisture; and a second panel secured to said first panel with a space for accomodating airflow between the first and second panels, the second panel having a surface with a second predetermined porosity to moisture, the first perdetermined panel porosity being greater than the second predetermined porosity to thereby absorb moisture from air being circulated between the first and second panels; whereby humidity of an environment within the building is controllable.

    Abstract: In order to provide wider biaxially-stretched geogrids having high primary direction (PD) strength, crotch-forming zones of a starting material which is at least 2.0 mm thick have protuberances (6). On strectching, PD orientation passes right through the junction (27) but the protuberance (6) causes the orientation ratio of the crotch edge to decrease significiantly as orientation enters the central part of the crotch edge. After a secondary direction stretch of at least about 1.5:1, the thickness of the central part of the crotch edge is not reduced by more than about 20%. The stretching does not reduce the thickness of any point along notional ridge lines (31) to such an extent that the ratio of finished thickness to starting thickness at that point mid-point. In the biax geogrid (25), the junction mid-point is significantly thicker than the PD is less than about 80% of the ratio of finished thickness to starting thickness of the junction strand mid-point.
