  • Patent number: 8574703
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for positioning and assembly of two or more parts wherein at least one of which is of a creep sensitive material. The method and apparatus enable very precise positioning of parts during assembly by holding a rough alignment with free play permitting finer alignment. Creep resistant annular inserts are molded into the part and provided with flow apertures to conduct plastic material into the annular insert bore. A spindle defined the geometry of a centering hole within the bore during molding. The annular inserts are operable as compression limiters to prevent deformation of the creep sensitive material under the action of heat or tightening stresses.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a friction-welded connection between a plurality of superimposed flat components held together by a connecting member, wherein a collar of said connecting member rests on an upper component and the front end of said connecting member forms a friction-welding zone with a lower component, said friction-welding zone being produced by rotation and pressure of the connecting member. After formation of the friction-welding zone, the rotation of the connecting member ceases at the end of a first step and, in a second step, upon cessation of the rotation of the connecting member prior to contact of the collar with the upper component, a pressure is exerted on the connecting member by a pressure-applying tool, said pressure pressing the collar against the upper component because of a deformation.

  • Patent number: 7926649
Abstract: A flat belt (2), which is made of elastomeric material (46a, 46b), is made up of a first partial belt (2a) and a second partial belt (2b). The first partial belt (2a) is reinforced with a reinforcement layer (4) made up of cords. A layer separation which is to be feared theoretically is to be reliably avoided and the bonding of the belt material to the reinforcement layer (4) is to be optimized. The first belt part (2a) is provided with slots (44) with the aid of mold drum winding-projections (42); the second belt part (2b) defines a filling of the slots (44) of the first belt part (2a). Preferably, the reinforcement layer (4) is positioned centrally in the neutral bending plane of the finished flat belt (2). The first belt part (2a) and the second belt part (2b) can be made of different elastomeric materials (46a, 46b). Also, at least one of the two surfaces of the belt (2) can be coated and/or provided with a longitudinal profile or transverse profile.

Abstract: A cushioning device with an upper foam layer and a lower positioned foam layer, with the upper foam layer having multiple thickness zones defined by different height projections from one zone to another as to provide a thickness variation pattern, one side of the upper foam layer is less contoured when not yet assembled in the cushioning device and a second side is comprised of the multiple thickness zones such that, upon connection of the multiple thickness zones to the lower positioned foam layer, the height differential along a length of the upper foam layer is transmitted as to form a non-planar, crown configuration in the upper surface of the upper foam layer. A method includes roller contouring different height and shaped projection zones including zones with different ratios of peak height to overall zone height.
