    Abstract: The invention relates to a film composite and the use thereof as a mirror film in solar reflectors in view of the sustainable guarantee of the required reflection of solar radiation (total solar reflection). In particular, the invention relates to the use of cover films on the basis of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in the film composite, having an especially high UV stability, and a high weathering stability. The invention further relates to a UV and weather protection package for said solar mirror film, as utilized in solar reflectors, for improving the optical life span, weathering stability, and for avoiding delamination. The invention further relates to a surface finish with regard to scratch resistance, anti-soil and chemical stability of the solar mirror film.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to polyimide based adhesives having a coefficient of thermal expansion (“CTE”) equal to or below 50 ppm/° C. The adhesives of the present invention contain a polyimide base polymer present in the overall adhesive in an amount from 25 to 95 weight percent. The polyimide base polymer has a glass transition temperature (“Tg”) in a range of from about 150 to about 300° C. and typically has a coefficient of thermal expansion above 50 ppm/° C. The polyimide based adhesives of the invention also contain an aramid micro fiber filler in an amount from 5 to 75 weight percent, based upon the total weight of the polyimide based adhesive. The fiber filler can be used to lower CTE of the overall adhesive to match (or nearly match) the CTE of other materials like metal, silicon wafers, other polymers (including polyimide) and the like.

    Abstract: A method of immobilizing a catalyst on a substrate surface involves providing novel ligating copolymers comprising functional groups capable of binding to a substrate surface and functional groups capable of ligating to catalysts such as metal ions, metal complexes, nanoparticles, or colloids; applying the ligating copolymer to a substrate surface to cause the ligating copolymer to bind thereto, and contacting the modified substrate surface with a solution of a catalyst, causing the catalyst to be ligated by the ligating copolymer and thus immobilized on the substrate surface. The ligating copolymer may be patterned on the substrate surface using a method such as microcontact printing.
