  • Patent number: 6572948
Abstract: A fire stopping device includes a containment shell with a heat rupturable element and an intumescent filler material arranged in the containment shell. The containment shell is formed of a fire resistant material capable of containing the intumescent material after the rupturable element fails. In addition, the heat rupturable element is designed to fail at a force which is lower than the intumescent filler material expansion force. In this manner, when the intumescent filler material reaches its activation temperature, it expands with a force greater than the strength of the rupture element, thereby causing the rupture element to fail. Thus, expansion of the intumescent filler material takes place in a controlled manner via the rupture element.

Abstract: A method of producing a security element for electronically securing an object, a device for producing the security element and the security element itself form aspects of the present invention. The security element includes a strip element embedded in sheathing. The sheathing has a melting temperature below that of the strip element. The method has associated steps and the device has associated elements for producing the security element from the strip element and sheathing. In each aspect, the ends of the strip element and sheathing are heated and the sheathing ends pulled to seal the strip element in the sheathing.

  • Patent number: 6432495
Abstract: An abrasion resistant air bag comprises an outer tubular liner board member having a pair of parallel ply sections defining an internal space therebetween, and an inflatable bladder disposed internally thereof. In order to close and seal the opposite open ends of the outer tubular liner board member, and thereby form the abrasion resistant air bag, a pair of liner board end cap members are adhesively bonded upon the opposite open ends of the outer tubular liner board member. The end caps are formed from initially flat, scored pieces of liner board which are folded in half upon themselves whereupon each leg member or half-section of the end cap is adhesively bonded to an outer surface portion of a respective one of the outer tubular liner board ply sections.

  • Patent number: 6417119
Abstract: A fabric having plant material adhered between layers of silk or hand-made paper. The silk or paper layers are translucent to allow the fabric to have the appearance of plant material. The fabric is manufactured by soaking dry plant material in water, pressing and drying the plant material to flatten it, adhering bottom and top layers of silk or paper to the plant material, and applying a stiffening agent to the fabric. Articles of various shapes may be formed by shaping the fabric into a predetermined shape prior to the step of applying the stiffening material.

  • Publication number: 20020068384
Abstract: A flexible sheet used in manufacture of microelectronic components is held on a frame formed from a rigid material so that the frame maintains the sheet under tension during processing and thereby stabilizes the dimensions of the sheet. The frame may be formed from a rigid, light-transmissive material such as a glass, and the bond between the frame and sheet may be made or released by light transmitted through the frame. Preferred features of the framed sheet minimize entrapment of processing liquids such as etch solutions, thereby minimizing carryover of processing solutions between steps. The frame may have contact openings which permit engagement of a metallic layer on the sheet by an electrode carrying electroplating or etching current without disturbing the main portion of the sheet where features are to be formed or treated.

  • Patent number: 6383607
Abstract: A mouse pad with improved self-cleaning and traction features. The mouse pad is a planar structure with a parallel top control layer and a bottom anti-skid coating. Formed on the top layer is a top control layer with a plurality of alternating, equal height, prismatic and pyramidal shapes, which provide improved cleaning and traction properties. Small troughs are formed between the adjacent shapes, which collect fine dirt and dust particles that are swept from the surface of the mouse ball during use. In one embodiment, the top control surface is made of flexible material that allows the prismatic and pyramidal shapes to bend slightly when the ball of a mechanical mouse rolls over the top surface. This bending action provides improved self-cleaning and traction features. In another embodiment, the top layer is made of transparent material. An ink layer may be applied to the bottom surface of the top layer.
