Abstract: Embodiments provide methods and systems for regulating the use of virtual reality environments provided to residents of controlled-environment facilities. In response to a request for virtual reality programs from an inmate, the privilege status of the inmate is used to determine the available virtual environments in which the inmate may participate. The participation of the inmate within a virtual reality session may be restricted based on the privilege status of the inmate. Any limitations on an inmate's participation within an approved virtual environment may be enforced by restricting the behavior of an avatar representing the inmate within the virtual environment. The privilege status of inmates may be used to enforce restrictions that prohibit contact between certain inmates or certain classifications of inmates. The participation of inmates may be restricted and terminated based on a measured physiological responses to the inmate's participation in a virtual environment.

In some implementations, an indication of a user selection by a first user of electronic learning content of an electronic learning (eLearning) system is processed, where the electronic learning content includes a learning module. Learning module is initiated or resumed. The progress of the first user in relation to completion of the learning module is tracked. An unanswered question that pertains to the learning module and that has been submitted by a second user is identified based, at least in part, on the progress of the first user in relation to the completion of the learning module. The unanswered question is then provided via a web page of the learning module for presentation via a client device of the first user.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing device scans a plurality of available data sources associated with a profiled identity for an individual, and categorizes instances of the data sources according to recognized terms within the data sources. Once determining whether the profiled identity contributed positively to each categorized instance, categorized instances that have a positive contribution by the profiled identity may be clustered into clusters. The computing device may then rank the clusters based on size of the clusters and frequency of recognized terms within the clusters, and can then infer an expertise of the profiled identity based on one or more best-ranked clusters. The inferred expertise of the profiled identity may then be stored.

Abstract: Techniques for previewing and presenting content of different applications in a user interface are described. In an example, a computer system determines a presentation template defined for a page application. The page application is configured to present a page about a target application, and the page includes a preview area and a body area. The system receives a user selection of an icon in a menu, whereby the icon corresponds to the target application. The system then presents in the user interface contents based on data stored in local memory, whereby the contents are presented according to an arrangement specified by the presentation template for the preview area. The system then receives a user request for additional information about the target application, and subsequently presents at least a portion of the body area of the page based on an execution of the page application.

Abstract: A system assesses the susceptibility of an electronic device user to a cybersecurity threat by sensing a user action with respect to the electronic device. The system maps the sensed data to a training needs model to determine whether the sensed data corresponds to a pattern associated with a threat scenario in the training needs model. When the system determines that the sensed data corresponds to a pattern associated with a threat scenario in the training needs model, identify a cybersecurity threat scenario for which the user is at risk, and use the training needs model to estimate susceptibility of the user to the cybersecurity threat scenario.

Abstract: Techniques are described for jointly modeling knowledge tracing and hint-taking propensity. During a read phase, a co-learning model accepts as inputs an identification of a question and the current knowledge state for a learner, and the model predicts probabilities that the learner will answer the question correctly and that the learner will use a learning aid (e.g., accept a hint). The predictions are used to personalize an e-learning plan, for example, to provide a personalized assessment. By using these predictions to personalize a learner's experience, for example, by offering hints at optimal times, the co-learning system increases efficiencies in learning and improves learning outcomes. Once a learner has interacted with a question, the interaction is encoded and provided to the co-learning model to update the learner's knowledge state during an update phase.

An entry includes a spelling of the word as spelled by the second student following a receipt of the audio output. If the spelling of the word matches the correct spelling of the word, a score for the student-group is improved.

Abstract: Information throttle that modifies a device's access to applications, features, or information to enforce workplace use policies. May be used with “bring your own devices” that belong to a user but are also used at work. For example, the system may disable games, media players, or social media when it determines that a device is used at work. A usage context monitor determines the context in which the device is currently used. The monitor may determine that a device is used for work when the time matches working hours, the device location matches a work site location, or the network connected to a device matches a workplace network. In addition to blocking access to inappropriate features, the information throttle may allow access to sensitive information only when the device is at work. Access may also depend on factors such as user credentials and the identity and configuration of the device.
