    Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention described and shown in the specification and drawings is a ballistic resistant article including at least one layer of hard armor and at least one layer of fibrous armor composite. Each fibrous armor composite layer includes two or more layers of a fibrous ply, each fibrous ply having a plurality of unidirectional oriented fibers. When the layers of plies are aligned to form the composite, the fibers in adjacent fibrous plies are arranged at an acute angle to each other. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.     Abstract: The invention relates to inflatable fabrics which comprise two separated and distinct fabric layers in discrete areas of such fabrics as well as C-shaped seam-producing materials to which such fabric layers are attached. The resultant inflatable fabric composite this includes inflatable areas separated, at least partially, by seamed barrier areas. This configuration will form “pillowed” structures within the target fabric upon inflation. Such seam-producing materials are incorporated within the two-layer structure as C-shaped peel seams in relation with the individual fabric layers. Upon inflation, the seams then act as shear seams which greatly increases the overall strength of the two-layer inflatable fabric. These shear seams thus provide a relatively effective manner of reducing air permeability within the entire fabric article. Such a fabric may be utilized in numerous and various applications wherein fabric inflation is desired or necessary.

The composite substrate is re-infiltrated with the preceramic polymer, cured, and pyrolyzed to an initial densification level. The topcoat layer is then integrated with the composite substrate by applying transition plies to an exterior surface of the composite substrate, forming a particulate slurry from a ceramic powder and the preceramic resin, and applying the particulate slurry to the transition plies. The transition plies-particulate slurry layup on the composite substrate is autoclave cured and pyrolyzed. The composite substrate is then re-impregnated with the preceramic resin matrix material, cureclave cured, and step pyrolyzed to a desired densification level.

    Abstract: A thermoplastic thermoformable composite material for shaping and stretching into a desired form without voids and holes, including a core formed by at least one layer of chopped fibers enveloped and impregnated by thermoplastic material to form a fabric layer. Layers of thermoplastic material respectively positioned on opposite sides of the fabric layer core, and the layers of thermoplastic material provided with a sufficient thickness to flow into and heal any voids or holes formed in the core as the composite material is shaped and stretched into a desired form.

Also disclosed is a fibrous composite structure composed of a matrix of fibrous material having individual exposed surfaces; and a relatively uniform distribution of particulate material attached to individual exposed surfaces of the fibrous material by substantially non-transient bonding.
