Having Inlet Airway Patents (Class 454/143)
  • Patent number: 5556333
Abstract: An air-distributor box for a heating/air-conditioning system of motor vehicles has a first air-outflow orifice for the connection of a lateral nozzle and a second air-outflow orifice, arranged below the first air-outflow orifice, for ventilating the foot space as well as an air flap controlling the air stream to the second air-outflow orifice. In order to avoid the lateral nozzle having to be additionally throttled by hand from outside by the driver or front-seat passenger with the air flap opened for ventilating the foot space to a sufficient extent, the first air-outflow orifice to the lateral nozzle is assigned a throttle diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 5551746
Abstract: A side window arrangement is disclosed which has main and auxiliary window cutouts which are separated from one another and are arranged one behind the other in the opening direction of the window, a window side pane having an opening which can be moved into the auxiliary window cutout. The auxiliary window cutout serves as a ventilation cutout located underneath the main window cutout. This arrangement contrasts with known side windows, which, when opened by a small gap to ventilate the vehicle internal space, causes the occupants of the vehicle to be adversely affected by air eddying occurring at head level and by aerodynamic noise. In the case of obliquely previously known arranged side windows, water enters when it is raining even if the windows are only opened slightly.

  • Patent number: 5462482
Abstract: An automobile door having an interior trim panel with air flow control openings at a bottom edge thereof. The air flow control openings direct outside air entering the normal drain holes in the door onto the floor of the passenger compartment to thereby prevent this air from entering the passenger compartment through partially sealed openings in the trim panel in which a door release handle and power door and power window switches are received.

  • Patent number: 5370576
Abstract: A forced flow of outside ventilation air may be selectively directed into the cab of a truck using a specially designed fan assembly that works in conjunction with an existing vent structure disposed within a ventilation passage extending through a wall of the cab. The existing vent structure has a control member which is manually operable from the interior of the cab to selectively permit or preclude outside air inflow to the cab interior through the ventilation passage. The fan assembly includes a housing having an open front side, and an open rear side secured to the cab wall portion over the inner side of the ventilation passage. A cover plate having a pair of air flow openings therein is secured to the front side of the housing for pivotal movement relative thereto between a closed position in which the cover plate blocks the front housing side, and an open position providing manual access to the vent structure control member through the housing interior.

  • Patent number: 5364159
Abstract: A motor vehicle body has an instrument panel construction that includes a structural instrument panel carrier of plastic material for mounting instrument panel components. The carrier is attached to side pillars located at a juncture of passenger and engine compartments so as to form a cross beam. The instrument panel construction has its external appearance determined by adding facial instrument panel coverings to the instrument panel carrier after the instrument panel components are mounted on the instrument panel carrier. The structural instrument panel carrier may also be integrated with a front of dash (FOD) panel that may be composed of the same material and that provides a second cross beam.

  • Patent number: 5358442
Abstract: A telescopic double wall air intake device having an antenna including an air intake canister attached to one end of the antenna and an air plenum arranged on the other end of the antenna. The air canister has disposable filtering material therein. The air plenum is attached to a frame of a car or other vehicle and carries the pneumatic or electric motor for moving the telescopic air intake device up and down. The air plenum may also be connected to a radio and other communication devices. The inlet side of a high static air moving device, e.g., an air booster fan, is connected to the air plenum via a flexible duct. The discharge side of the booster fan is connected to a second air plenum, e.g., an air mixing plenum, via a flexible metal air duct. The air mixing plenum has three connection ports, two of which are used for inlet flows and one of which is for discharge flow. The inlet ports are provided with check valves.

  • Patent number: 5277655
Abstract: Ventilating apparatus for farm equipment used in the fumigation of crop fields including the provision of a ducted blower unit disposed directly above the head of a fumigation equipment operator so as to cause a continual downward flow of air over the operator's body when the equipment is in use. The apparatus includes a shroud for housing an electrically or hydraulically driven fan which collects air from the space above the tractor and forces it downward in a flow enveloping the operator. In alternative embodiments, various filtration devices may be utilized as well as flow directing deflector assemblies, heat exchangers and misting applicators.

  • Patent number: 5236390
Abstract: A mobile medical unit (10) has interior space divided into a service compartment (24), a treatment compartment (26), an entryway compartment (28), and a storage compartment (30). An interior door (52) controls passage of persons between the entryway compartment (28) and the treatment compartment (26), an exterior door (58) controls passage of persons between the entryway compartment (28) and space outside of the medical unit (10), and an opening (64) is formed between the entryway compartment (28) and the storage compartment (30) for retrieval and replenishment of supplies. The interior door (52) and the exterior door (58) form between them an air lock to help maintain an aseptic condition within the treatment compartment (26). However, the interior door (52) is oriented at an acute angle with respect to the exterior door (58) to provide an auxiliary exit for recumbent patients along a smooth curved passageway (94).

  • Patent number: 5195926
Abstract: A flap arrangement, especially for a ventilation or airconditioning system or vehicles, has two flaps which are pivotable about pivot axes parallel to one another and which are coupled to one another for the oppositely directed pivoting movement. The coupling is made via a coupling rod articulated on the two flaps. To achieve a pivoting angle of the same amount on both flaps, the articulation points are so determined that, on the one hand, the radius of the circular paths described by them during the pivoting of the flaps is of equal size and, on the other hand, during the pivoting of the flaps, an imaginary effective straight line respectively connecting the two articulation points rotates about an imaginary center of rotation located approximately in the middle between the two pivot axes.

  • Patent number: 5186237
Abstract: An automotive heater and air conditioning system has multiple zones each supplied by a separate air flow passage serviced by a common blower and common heat exchangers. One of the passages has an adjustable air flow mechanism which bypasses some air from the passage without disturbing the air flow in other passages. A bypass port in the one passage at a point near the blower outlet is controlled by an adjustable door which is pivotally mounted in the passage at the downstream edge of the port. An induction housing receives air from the bypass port and returned it to the intake if the blower.
